  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 8/28, 5w+1

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: apple seed

Upcoming appointments: waiting to hear back from my doctor

How are you feeling?: Pretty good overall. Definitely have fatigue, sore boobs, and occasional nausea but I mostly feel normal.

    Rants/Raves:
We transitioned DD to a toddler bed yesterday and it went great! She took a good nap and didn't get out of bed once at bedtime. She's awake and just talking to herself and her stuffed animals in bed right now. So happy the first day was successful and smooth!

    Questions: None really

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?
I love George R. R. Martin (Game of Thrones series) and Diana Gabaldon (Outlander series). I started the His Dark Materials series in audible last year and still need to finish the last book. I was thoroughly enjoying it!
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 8/26, 5w3d

    FTM/STM/STM+: TTM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team Green

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A sesame seed

Upcoming appointments: 1/4 beta draw and then a follow-up with my doctor on 1/7. My betas have to be over a certain threshold for them to approve the ultrasound request, so I have all my fingers and toes crossed.

How are you feeling?: the holidays have been a happy distraction; I’ve only POAS once in the last 4 days (woohoo!). I also stopped temping. But now that there’s nothing else between me and the blood draw, I’m starting to feel a bit antsy again.

Rants/Raves: My oldest has slept in the last two mornings! I’m sure it’s a holiday fluke, but I will gladly take the 7am wake up.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: I stole this GTKY from another BMB because I am always looking for more book recs, but I actually find it a hard one to answer 😆. My last 5 star read was The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. My last 1 star read was the Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo (technically I listened to the audiobook, but I don’t think reading it would have changed my opinion). I got Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin for Christmas and I’ve already finished it. The Caraval trilogy by Stephanie Garber was another recent fave. My last binge was the Veronica Speedwell series by Deanna Raybourn (book 6 is out next year and I’m excited for it!).

My TBR pile next to my bed is a little out of control. It also doesn’t include the three ebooks I have out from the library that I’m currently reading.🙈

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a blueberry

Upcoming appointments: 12/29 midwife appt and blood draw, ultrasound 1/4.

How are you feeling?: pretty miserable although I felt better yesterday than I have in a while. Also cue the very weird pregnancy dreams. 😬

Rants/Raves: we took DS hiking yesterday and the fresh air felt so nice. He got a bug explorer kid from Santa and was so excited to use it during the hike

    Questions: Nope!

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately? My favorite book is She Comes Undone by Wally Lamb. I revisit it every year or so and fall in love with the story all over again. Right now I’m reading Friends and Strangers by J Courtney Sullivan. The main character is a new mom who lurks on online mom boards. 😂 So far it’s great!

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 5+1

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: We will be Team Finding Out, but probably not until the A/S

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Ladybug 🐞

Upcoming appointments: 1/12 will be our first

How are you feeling?: really good!

Rants/Raves: We told parents and grandparents on Christmas Eve, as well as DD. Although we are waiting to tell MHs dads side of the family (his choice). I feel like I need to find a cute way to tell her too. We were there yesterday and surprisingly DD didn’t spill the beans.

    Questions:

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?

Harry Potter books are definitely my favorite, and Nicholas Sparks my favorite Author. I’ve been listening to Audible books on my commute to work. Firefly Lane was really good but could be a bit of a trigger for anyone with childhood trauma.

  • @pickle-chips what's your go-to book genre(s)? I enjoy fantasy/sci-fi, mystery/thrillers, and YA dystopian. I'm intrigued by some of the ones you've mentioned.

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out:

Finding out. If the first ultrasound goes well then we should know sometime at the beginning of February.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:

    seasame seed

    Upcoming appointments:

First ultrasound January 25, NIPT January 29

How are you feeling?: Maybe a little too good physically. It's making me nervous...

    Rants/Raves: Just stressing over everything.

    Questions: Not today:)

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?

I love Thomas Hardy...my favourite book is Jude the Obscure. I read constantly...I just started Here Be Dragons (historical fiction) so I'll see how that goes:)

  • @gingermama29 that’s so great about the toddler bed transition—what a relief! I like pretty similar genres! I gravitate to fantasy/sci-fi, murder mystery, historical fiction and YA/NA most things except contemporary. I’m not huge into contemporary fiction in general, but I did recently read two contemporary romance (the Flat Share by Beth O’Leary and Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston) that were pretty cute.
@emmylou78 how old is DD again?? That’s great she didn’t spill the beans!
@surrenderdorothy I’m sorry you’re feeling miserable, I hope you get more days like yesterday! I’m impressed you got out for a hike. Fresh air and movement is always so worth it, it’s just the kitting everyone up that sounds so exhausting.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: Aug 4, 8w4d

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Green (for now?)

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: baby is the size of a peanut.

    Upcoming appointments: 1/7

How are you feeling?: Okay, I'm struggling to get the right amount of food in at the right time to prevent nausea/heartburn. I've never eaten 3 square meals, so its a struggle to find enough food to eat in the day.

Rants/Raves: my dog keeps hopping the fence and running into the wooded area behind my house. She has terrible recall so going to find her is very annoying.

    Questions: None

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?

I really need to get back into reading. I keep trying but rarely find the right books. I love Colm Toibin (Brooklyn is most famous, turned into a movie about 5 years ago) but he hasn't published anything new lately.

  • @surrenderdorothy that sounds like such a fun day for your DS. Also I love your profile pic of RBG ❤️.

@emmylou78 glad YD didn't spill the beans. I still haven't told DD yet.

@doodlemom131 oh that's gotta be frustrating about your dog. What kind of dog do you have?
  • @gingermama29 she's a bernedoodle, so half poodle half bernese mountain dog. She had a cut on her paw so no big walks lately. This is her getting her energy out. And chasing neigbourhood cats.

  • @doodlemom131 ohh she's such a cutie!!
  • @doodlemom131 So cute!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 8/1 9 weeks

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an olive

Upcoming appointments: 1/11 I graduate from the RE and then 1/12 is my first appointment with my new midwife, since the 1st one isn't available for delivery.

How are you feeling?: Really tired, annoyed by the GI issues, feeling bloated and gross, and then guilty for complaining, even in my head, about any of this.

Rants/Raves: Not really a rant or rave, but a big thing that's happening this week: **Possible TW involving animal death**We are putting my 14 1/2 year old dog to sleep on Wednesday. She hasn't been doing well for a while, and we're going to visit my parents for New Years. They have land where we can bury her, so we're going to do that. Plus the vet where my parents live is a family friend, and I'd rather he did it than our vet where we live. I'm doing okay about it right now, but I definitely have moments of weirdness about making this decision.

Questions: not that I can think of

  • @shoogapoff I'm so sorry about your dog:( Thinking of you ❤
  • @pickle-chips DD is 7yo. Very surprising she didn’t spill!

How are you feeling?: Pretty normal. Other than sore boobs and interrupted sleep.

    Rants/Raves: nothing pregnancy related

    Questions: none

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?
I need to read more. I started reading Mindy Kalinga book and it's ok but nothing great.
My favorite book has always been Catcher in the rye.

    Questions:
    No.

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?
I don't know what I'd say for a favorite book or author but I just finished the Wytch Elm by Tana French and it was good.

Upcoming appointments: My first appointment is still 3 weeks away!

How are you feeling?: The nausea kicked toward the end of last week. Taking a ginger capsule once a day and snacking seems to help a lot though.

Rants/Raves: We’re going to announce the pregnancy to a close friend today! I’m excited to share and she will be the first to know!

    Questions: n/a

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately? I don’t have a favorite book but my favorite genre is memoirs/autobiographies. I’ve read pretty much every celebrity memoir out there even if I’m not at all a fan of the celebrity lol I just like reading about people’s lives. My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward was the best memoir I read this year.

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: I’m considering going team green for the first time, but I wonder if my daughter will want to know.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an earbud headphone

Upcoming appointments: not until 9/16 with my midwife

How are you feeling?:soooo nauseated. All the time but worse in the evenings. I bought some morning sickness drops and they were really gross and made it worse so I need to find something else.  I’m also really tired in the evenings, which is right around bedtime for my kids so it’s a struggle.

Rants/Raves: it’s so hard not to tell people why my face looks so queasy and grumpy all the time.  Also, It snowed last week and I didn’t think I should sled like the other parents were so I just felt boring and lame.

    Questions:

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?

I don’t really have a favorite that I can think of, I think it changes all the time.  Some of my favorites have been jo Nesbo mysteries, the good earth, as I lay dying,  the goldfinch and Harry Potter. The best recent book I enjoyed was all the light we cannot see.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: August 28/5 + 2 (by O date)

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding Out

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A lentil! Haha.

Upcoming appointments: First ultrasound today! My doctor's office refuses to believe me/take into account that my normal cycle is longer than average, so by their account I'm significantly further along than I actually am (they have me at 6 + 4 based on LMP)... so I'm not really expecting to see much today, but it'll be a relief if at least the sac is there and in the correct place and all that.

How are you feeling?: Too normal for my own comfort... but despite not having bad pregnancy symptoms yet, I'm completely unmotivated to do pretty much anything. I know I'll regret not being productive if/when I start feeling worse, but so far that reasoning has not proved compelling enough to get me up off the couch.

Rants/Raves: Time is moving so slowly for me right now! I've felt like every day since I found out I'm pregnant has lasted a year, and I'm not sure how I'm going to make it eight more months if this pace keeps up. I guess I'm hoping that at some point this will feel more real and I'll be able to relax a little, but for now my anxiety and my irregular holiday schedule/routine are making every hour drag.

    Questions: None for now!

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?: Couldn't really say a favorite book, but my favorite recent read is Cooked by Michael Pollan. I love reading about food/cooking, I love reading about science, and I love reading about social history, so that book is perfectly up my alley (as are most of his other books)! In general I'm mostly a nonfiction reader (I especially love a good medical history, though I've been avoiding those a bit since the start of the pandemic, haha), but I also really enjoy a cheesy historical fiction novel for when I need a bit of fluff.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:

    Upcoming appointments:

I have my first ultrasound on 1/4. I’m looking forward to it, but also bummed that DH can’t come (dang COVID). He has always come to the first US appointment, so I’m feeling a little blue about that.

    How are you feeling?:

Tired. Unmotivated. Spells of nausea. Sore boobs.

    Rants/Raves:

My grandpa passed away last night. I’m both heartbroken and elated. He was 100, and his mind has been steadily slipping for the last six months to the point where he was confused all the time. He’s my favorite human, so I’m going to miss him terribly, but I’m also glad he’s not suffering anymore. Plus, he has lived with my parents’ for the last 13 years, and his care has been a difficult (although privileged) responsibility in their lives. I’m grateful that my mom doesn’t have that weight anymore. So, basically...lots of feelings right now!

    Questions:

    Nope

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?

Oh my goodness. Too many to name. Some books that I have really enjoyed lately:

    Fiction:

The Dutch House by Ann Patchett

Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield

    Thriller:

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

The Wife Between us by Greer Hendricks

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

    Romance:

(Historical) The Duke and I by Julia Quinn (this was a re-read in anticipation of Bridgerton being released on Netflix. I read the whole series years ago and am excited for the Netflix adaptation!)

(Historical) Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore

(Contemporary) The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

    Obviously I like to read...😂😂😂

  • @cyanope I'm so sorry for your loss! Totally get what you mean about it being both a tragedy and a relief... it's so hard to feel all those emotions simultaneously. I hope you're able to focus on the wonderful memories you have of him as much as possible in the coming days!

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: maybe leaning towards finding out

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: raspberry

Upcoming appointments: none for a long time now! I'm graduated from the RE and had my appointment with the OB/MFM so my next appointment is the nuchal fold test stuff towards later Jan.

How are you feeling?: So lazy. Some nausea but it's not that bad most of the time. Some food aversions. So much better than I felt with my daughter in that regard, just a lot more tired this time. Tired tired tired.

Rants/Raves: I totally had something I wanted to share for this like three days ago and forgot. If I remember I'll post again😂.

Questions: what are you guys doing for clothes? I'm in the awkward too small for maternity but pants are feeling tight phase. And I can't deal with stuff on my belly due to a surgery I had earlier this year. So I'm imagining I'll just stay home forever, lol. Dresses would be good but it's so cold!

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?

I read like crazy. 58 books this year so far! Lots of sci fi and fiction. I can't pick a fave! Currently reading "Real Life" by Brandon Taylor.

  • @claireloSC I broke out the stretchy leggings and some of my smaller maternity pants already  I find the cheaper leggings are more forgiving to the bloat this early.
  • @the_most_happy I hope your scan went well today!!

@claireloSC I went and got some target leggings to help with this bloat belly.  I don’t know what I’m gonna do when I finally have to get dressed again... 😳
  • @cyanope so very sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I know grieving so so difficult, especially during a pandemic when funerals and family gatherings are limited. I hope you can cave out some time to grieve. Hugs to you. 💙
  • @emily1052 thank you, it did! As predicted, too early to see anything beyond the sac/yolk though, so I’m going back next week for another one. I had this same issue with my doctor’s office not listening to me about my longer cycle length when I was getting my hormones checked while we were TTC- they would really save a lot of their time and mine if they trusted me on this! But oh well, I’m just hoping everything looks good next time.
  • @claireloSC +1 to leggings and yoga pants. I haven't worn real pants since I got pregnant with my 18 month old. Not sure that's something I should be bragging about but there it is. Depending on where your scar is from the surgery there are low rise ones that might be comfortable? I have found that the high rise ones have actually felt totally fine over my CS scar even from day 1, especially if the material is soft:)

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team totally finding out (NIPT scheduled for 2/9)

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: itty bitty

Upcoming appointments: Had my first US today and baby is definitely in my uterus 🙌🏻 Tech had a tough time finding the fetal pole but finally did and we are measuring 5+5.  I’m 100% sure on my dates so we are keeping my due date of 8/22.  Got to see the heartbeat around 140bpm.  Next US is 1/11 and hoping for some serious growth!

How are you feeling?: sleepy!  But some relief.

Rants/Raves: Since I’m over 35 my OB had me do an early 1-hour glucose test this morning.  And I failed 😣 I didn’t even eat anything this morning.  I have to go back for the 3 hour now.  Thinking I’ll do it tomorrow morning and get it over with.

Also found out that I ovulated from my right ovary and since my right Fallopian tube was removed that means my left tube reached over and picked up the egg from the right side!!  Pretty amazing!  I’ve heard of it happening but even the US tech said it’s not all that common.

Questions:  Who has failed the 1hour glucose and passed the 3hour?

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately?  Haven’t read much lately but I loved the outlander series!

  • @Clobert - I found some ginger-lemon morning sickness drops at Target that taste pretty good. The brand was Upspring. Also just taking a ginger capsule has been helpful for my nausea.

How are you feeling?: tired and anxious... so baseline? My back has been hurting more so that's a bummer. Some waves of queasiness but not really identifiable nausea.

Rants/Raves: I just want the next 3 to 4 weeks to go smoothly? Is that a rant?

Questions: I'll come back to this...

GTKY: Who is your favorite author or what is your favorite book? Or have you read anything good lately? Haven't read anything for fun recently. I have a long list on kindle so I'll try to revisit them this long weekend but... I'm getting into rabbit holes looking at pregnancy stuff again. 😳

@Panaceia - I think about my younger self who proudly declared "leggings are not pants" and just want to tell her "bless your heart" 😒

@emily1052 - I did fail my 1hr glucola last time and passed 3 hr one without any problem. Make sure you're fasting and that you get good nights sleep before! If you can, walk around between blood draws (that may be cheating but it does help lower glucose). However, the goal of glucose testing is to identify women who are at risk since GDM makes for big babies and other complications so it's good to know early!

  • @hannelorre I passed the 3 hour!  My levels were all over the place though and only failed the fasting draw.  My OB isn’t concerned and says it’s normal with pregnancy hormones.

Fasting draw 107 (should be under 100)
    2nd draw 114 (should be under 180)
    3rd draw 150 (should be under 155)
    4th draw 115 (should be under 140)

  • @hannelorre your younger self just made me laugh out loud! And don't get me started about pregnancy rabbit holes. So far today I've been down "no morning sickness at 6 weeks", "low hcg but successful pregnancy?", and "cb digi still saying 2-3 weeks". I should add I have had NO beta draws, I do actually have a bit of nausea, and I haven't taken a cb digi since like 5+3ish, and I'm just 6 weeks today...or 5+5 based on lmp. I live in Google rabbit holes now:/

@emily1052 my doctor doesn't even bother with the 1 hour and just sends everyone for the 3:)
  • @Panaceia yep! That's where I live too!! Hopefully we will get less crazy with time...

@emily1052 yay for passing the test! I think my 3 hr one was little bit like yours (higher 1 hr but otherwise normal). Is your doc gonna make you do another one later on?
  • @hannelorre I’ll still have to do the 24-28 week glucose test.
