Re: Christmas Gift Ideas Thread

  • I'm not in need of any ideas, but a great tip for coming up with ideas is to make note anytime throughout the year of any "man I wish I had this/more of these/a bigger version" that you hear from your family. I came up with the idea to get my FIL a case of BBQ cooking tools which then reminded me of a comment made by my ILs over the summer that they need new corn cob holders and trays. So that took care of gifts for my FIL. Easy peasy 👍

  • These would obviously be specific to the person, but here are some gifts I got people this year that I think are good ideas. We got my in-laws a bread maker and my favorite bread cookbook. I got my sister a heated blanket (she had commented on liking mine). For some stocking stuffers for my brothers I got these little magnetic balls called Speks off of Amazon (they are strangely addictive to play with). I also made little sets of a flavored balsamic vinegar, nice olive oil, and truffle salt that go well together as a bread dip (decent idea for people who like food and are otherwise difficult to shop for).

  • I got my parents a digital picture frame. My siblings and I are going to set up the apps on our own phones so we can update their frame with our family photos! I'm so excited! It thought about getting one for my grandma, too but she lives with my parents so I figured it'd be repetitive with the photos we share.

I also got a personalized cutting board for my new sister in law who loves anything personalized,  but it might be a bit late for that.

And all the scrunchies for my 9 and 12 year old neices.
  • I picked up a Pioneer Woman kitchen tools set with a cute holder for my MIL. I have no idea what to get my mom, but I saw some printed floral medical masks on Amazon so I grabbed those for her. She’s trying to declutter so I need another practical gift for her.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Parents always seem to be the hardest! For my mom I got Barak Obama's new book and a candle, her wife loves Dolly Parton so we got her Dolly's sugar cookie mix and a No Kid Hungry spatula designed by Dolly. For my Dad and his wife we are chipping in with my siblings for a digital photo frame that you can uploaded photos to. For MIL we are getting her slippers (she asked) and a candle. I also made homemade Angel Food Candy which she loves. For FIL, MH got him some hunting thing.

For everyone we are gifting some of our recent family photos in frames.
