Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Friday 12/11

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Month/Cycle: 18/11

    CD/DPO: 27/6

    Timing: good

    Typical LP length: 12-13

    Testing: not sure yet

R/R: So happy it's Friday!! On a less happy note, I was talking to my sister yesterday and I found out that my cousins that she usually hangs out with all just tested positive for COVID. She was with one of them as recently as last Friday. She's already had a negative test but is experiencing some symptoms so is planning to get tested again. I really hope she doesn't have it.

    CS/Q:
  • @gingermama29 oh no!!! I hope this test comes back negative too. But yes, TGIF!

    Month/Cycle: 25/27

    CD/DPO: 23/7

    Typical LP length: 12

    Testing: I think Monday

R/R: Friday!! I’m technically off today but I have people working on things that I want to keep moving so I’m sure I’ll have to work here and there. But it’s still nice! It’s going to be really nice today so I’m hoping to take a nice long walk! And then tonight we are going to a drive through light show tonight that our local park is putting on. It’s the first year and I love  how places are coming up with fun and creative things like that. Have a great weekend all!

  • @gingermama29 @bows22 I feel like we're the 3 amigos always being the first ones to post in TWW :D

@gingermama29 oh nooooo! I hope her test stays negative!

@bows22 enjoy the light show! I've never gone to one of those things

    Month/Cycle: 42 / 1AL

    CD/DPO: 20/4

    Timing: -3, -1, 0

    Typical LP length: 13 days

    Testing: 17th maybe

R/R: Also feeling happy that it's Friday! The week has been a bit crazy so I'm glad it's ending. DH and I will likely go out and look at flooring this weekend and see what's out there and what we like. This weekend marks 3 weeks of being good about doing dishes!! I think it's finally a habit to wash everything right away and the feeling is amazing. I've been such a good head space in my personal life lately. Maybe it's the meds or the excitement of a home remodel that won't happen for a number of months, but I really feel at peace. I'm not panicking about not having all my Christmas shopping done. I am a little worried about things getting shipped to us in time, so my goal is to get all the purchases done by Sunday.

CS/Q: This is so stupid... but the later half of my chart is reminding me of the stonks meme :D

  • @gingermama29 FX for another negative test for your sister and your cousins' cases are mild.
@bows22 have fun at the light show! We went to a light up animal event at the zoo and it was so cool. I was truly so impressed at how they were able to put it together this year with everything that has been going on.
@inthewoods23 I'm glad you are feeling in a good place. We have been in the habit of doing the dishes every night before bed and it is so good to wake up to an empty sink. Now we are working on putting the dirty dishes in the dishwasher throughout the day instead of letting them stack up in the sink all day.

    Month/Cycle: 13/13

CD/DPO: 32/16 (I had to look it up because I've lost track and it doesn't matter anymore)

    Timing: doesn't matter

    Typical LP length: doesn't matter

    Testing: negative beta, WFAF

R/R: I would like AF to just come already. I wasn't even on that much progesterone so idk why she's taking so long, well it's only been a day so I know I need to chill but the longer she takes the closer our trigger and TI will be to Christmas and having to time it around the festivities at my dad's house. I few meetings today, 115 unread emails to go through and some Christmas shopping to get done and then it's the weekend. I think tomorrow we are going to drive around and drop off Christmas cookies for our friends.

Testing: trying to hold off until Monday

R/R: looking forward to the weekend. I just want to get some Sewing done but I'm too tired by the end of the day

CS/Q: I lied about not temping anymore and had a good spike today.

@bows22 enjoy the light show! That sounds super fun. We went to a drive in movie in the park this summer and it was great.

@gingermama29 fingers crossed for a negative test!!

@inthewoods23 I need to get in the habit of having the dishes done before bed. We only have a single sink and it's the worst when it gets overflowing.

@krash_ it's annoying having to wait for inevitable. You could try taking some milk thistle to support your liver so it can process the extra hormones. I hope AF comes soon.

    Timing: -2, O

R/R: I am really over irresponsible people and COVID. Have another exposure at work after someone decided to have a gathering recently. Still determining if I am considered close contact since the timelines are "fuzzy" for the person on when symptom onset was. Our contact was minimal, but we shared paperwork and other physical items frequently. So it's a grey area. FML. End Rant. Kicker is, we talk often and she said that she has just been avoiding people.....apparently not.

    CS/Q: nothing

baby_yoda1986 Oh, what are you going to sew?

inthewoods23 I weirdly love looking at flooring and other house reno stuff. Have fun! Yay on washing dishes.

bows22 Yay for being off! Hopefully you don't get bothered too much!

gingermama29 FX she doesn't have COVID. If so, hopefully she recovers quickly.

@krash_ I hear you on unread emails. Sitting around 90. I feel like I read 30 and somehow 40 reappear each day.

  • @krash_ yes! Our sink and stove are towards a corner in our kitchen so they're like 2 steps apart. It just feels so crowded depending on what I'm making. I always plate the food vs leaving them in the pots/pans or putting them in serving dishes since it's just the 2 of us and I can't always do that right next to the stove with dirty dishes. There is at least the island right behind me, but I'd rather food fall on the counter than on the floor haha. I go back and forth between putting stuff in the dishwasher right away and leaving it in the sink. I've given up on asking DH to get in that habit. Doesn't bother me at this point now that I'm much less anxious about everything. Hope AF comes for you soon or at a good time so there's no trigger and TI at your dads!

@baby_yoda1986 I've always known having 2 sinks/basins so the idea of having only 1 just doesn't make sense to me! When DH's parents built their house they put in 1 sink, mostly because they're "everything goes in the dishwasher" people, but my MIL recently mentioned wishing they had done 2 instead because she hates using the single sink when she has those very few items that must be hand washed. I also recently learned I absolutely love apron sinks. I hate the look, but they make dish washing SO much more comfortable.

  • @inthewoods23 the joys of tiny living. We didn't have room for a double sink :( There are few things about the tiny house that I regret and that is definitely one of them. The other is the lack of a bathtub but that's my contractors fault so at least I have someone to blame.
  • @baby_yoda1986 ha! I think tiny living would be fun for me for like, a week and then I'd be wishing for more space. What classifies a house as a tiny house? Is it defined as always being under 1000sq ft? 800? 500?? I like the idea, but I don't think I could deal with a mini stove of 2 burners (even though that's 95% of our cooking haha).

@bmo88 my SIL has had that twice at work so far. DH had that once right at the start of the pandemic (like right when they finally declared it) and I was freaking out, but then they realized he was notified in error. I guess his HR had notified everybody who has an office down that hallway of the coworker that tested positive, but the 2 particular days he could have been in contact, DH was home sick. We're pretty sure not with covid as we had just traveled for a competition with our HS robotics team we mentor. It's common for lots of students and mentors to end up a little sick the following week from the crazy schedule of the competition plus the bus traveling. This year our bus ride was 11 hours. I did end up sick about 2 weeks after he was finally better so there is some speculation maybe it was covid after all but have no way of proving it.

  • @bmo88 Right now I am working on for neck warmers, pj pants, dolls, infinity scarves... I have so much on the go :P
@inthewoods23 i think it's under 500 sq ft. Ours is just over 300 sq ft! We have been here for three years and really love it other than a few qwerks. We hope to be able to move it one day (soon) to a new property and rent it out.
You definitely wouldn't like our place. I have a dual hot plate and convection toaster oven I cook on. It was a major pain when we moved in but I am used to it now.
  • baby_yoda1986 Oh nice, I love infinity scarves. :)

inthewoods23 It's a bit of a crap shoot and I am honestly not super worried about risk of getting sick. Moreso potentially needing to quarantine for two weeks which creates challenges for my job, seeing my family (who watches our daughter) and other stuff. I have been personally very careful and not done social things. So it's frustrating.
  • @gingermama29 Happy Friday! I hope your sister didn't catch covid from your cousins; and that your cousins recover quickly. 🤞🏻

@bows22 Happy Friday and enjoy that light show! Sounds like a lovely Friday evening.

@inthewoods23 I sense your calmness of spirit all the way from the west coast. Who cares if the reason for it is meds or upcoming reno or having a clean kitchen at the end of the day (something I really need to get better at.) Also, what's the stonks meme?

@krash_ FWIW, the dose of progesterone didn't affect length of my LP. Initially (my old RE) had me taking 200mg in the AM and PM. The new RE said only PM. LP length is still 17 days.

@baby_yoda1986 I hope you get some sewing done on the weekend! Also, PM incoming...

@bmo88 I'm also over ppl being irresponsible. C'mon, there's light at the end of the tunnel and this can get so much better much more quickly if ppl just stop doing stupid shit. Find a freaking bubble if you're lonely and stick to it. But REALLY stick to it.

    Month/Cycle: 11/11

    CD/DPO: 20/8

    Timing: IUI so excellent

Typical LP length: 17 on progesterone

Testing: Gonna wait for Beta on the 17th

R/R: Apparently California has the most Covid cases in of the US at something crazy like 1.4M. Luckily for me, most of those cases are in LA. MH and I are just gonna keep doing what we're doing: staying close to home, wearing masks, and not seeing anyone. I have 1 friend who is single and has been house hunting in our neighborhood so he's stopping by for lunch tomorrow. However, he already let me know that he had a Covid test on Tuesday and is negative.

The last of my Black Friday/Cyber Monday purchases arrived yesterday and I am pleased to report that I've hit it out of the park with all of my buys. Sharing the new beanie (from Kate Spade), mostly for @inthewoods23's benefit given her love for beanies. The good news is the beanie is multi-colored and matches both my light puffy jacked and my formal wool coat. Also enjoy another snap of early morning sunrise in SF (this was was at 6:33am so the sun is just starting to come up).

    CS/Q: Nope.

  • @baby_yoda1986 If I had to guess, 300sq ft is probably the size of our kitchen/dinette area haha. Is the square footage based on all areas (like including a loft area's space) or is it just the physical footprint that it takes up?

@bmo88 crap shoot is right! All the logistics can definitely make things challenging.

@acleverusername from the Know Your Meme page: "Stonks is an intentional misspelling of the word "stocks" which is often associated with a surreal meme featuring the character Meme Man standing in front of a picture representing the stock market followed by the caption "Stonks." The picture began seeing use as a reaction image online in jokes about making poor financial decisions."

Love the beanie! Looks nice and warm :)

  • @inthewoods23 glad you are sticking to the dishes plan! We also have an agreement that we have to take care of all dishes before bed, it just gets out of hand too quickly! And I am so happy that you are in such a good space, no matter the reason. It will be so nice to enter the holiday season that way!

@krash_ I hope AF comes soon if that will help the Christmas timing! We are going to something at our zoo this weekend too. I keep telling DH that we need to take advantage of this kind of stuff now because in January there will be nothing and we still won’t be able to go anywhere! Good luck with those emails!!

@baby_yoda1986 i don’t always post on the weekends so if I don’t talk to you, good luck testing!

@bmo1988 don’t even get me started on covid irresponsibility. I hope that you can get a clearer picture of your risk and also obviously that you don’t get it! Also
We don’t usually talk about kids outside of the TFAS thread (which I actually don’t think was posted for this week) but if you do want to say something we usually put it in a spoiler. But I’m in the same situation with my daughter and my parents and it sucks for multiple reasons

@inthewoods23 the footprint is 260 sq ft we have a small loft as a second bedroom and our main bedroom is on the main floor! I don't know how we make it work sometimes but we do.

    Edit: Typo
  • Couldn’t get under my spoiler box

@acleverusername I love that beanie! Stay safe! CA sounds crazy right now but glad it doesn’t seem to be in your area. It’s getting a little concerning where I live too.
  • Month/Cycle: 5/6

    CD/DPO: 21/7?

    Timing: terrible 😢

    Typical LP length: 12-15d

    Testing: maybe Monday

R/R: I’m feeling so down about this cycle  I thought I was consistently ovulating around cd 11 with a 14d LP. Now with temping this month and the OPKs, I’m so confused. Timing sucked because I think it’s putting pressure on MH. I’ll attach the chart but the third DTD wasn’t “successful”. I’m just feeling down, even though I’m only 6 months in

CS/Q: I’m chart stalking charts from other TWW threads. Does a dip happen before or after ovulation?

  • @emmylou78 temping always takes some time to get the hang of it and understand what your chart is indicating. I believe a dip can happen before O for some people, but I don't think it's very common. Dips after O might be called an implantation dip if it occurs between 6-12dpo. However, plenty of us have had dips in our charts after O and not gotten a BFP. What method were you using to know you typically ovulated on CD11? Did you temp or use OPKs before?

If you haven't already, FF has a fertility charting course that teach you various things with charting and tracking fertile signs. When I did it was an email you got every week for a lesson. It looks like it's also available as a podcast to listen to?

Having looked... apparently I missed 3 lessons. Maybe that's why I never got KU before month 12? :D

  • Thanks @inthewoods23. This is my first month temping and opks. CD 11 was just a guess based on CM and a 14d LP. I haven’t seen the FF charting course so I will look at that. It was on the FF site (I thought) that it said temps usually go up after O. Maybe I mistook temp increase as dip, then increase in my brain.

  • @bows22 I hope you've enjoyed your day mostly off. That light showb sounds so nice!

@inthewoods23 happy floor shopping!! We really need to get into that dishes habit. We're so bad about doing them every night and then they pile up like crazy.

@krash_ sorry friend. I hope AF gets here quickly and doesn't drag on.

@babt_yoda1986 I hope you can get some sewing done.

@bmo88 I agree wholeheartedly about people being irresponsible during covid. It's so frustrating!

@acleverusername it's so scary how fast cases are growing in this country. And it seems like nothing is being done to stop it. So frustrating. Sounds like you have a good plan though.

@emmylou78 I'm sorry for the confusion and frustration with this cycle. There's definitely a bit of a learning curve with temping and OPKs.

@emmylou78 yes, you should see a temp shift up (at least half a degree) to indicate O has occurred. The day before that temp bump is usually O day. The key also is that your temp stays elevated after O. However, there are some cases where the temp shift isn't that big or temps gradually rise over the days after O. The course shows you all that stuff :) Do you also struggle with reading the OPKs? The Premom app is fantastic for that. You take a pic of your OPK lines and it determines the difference in color between the test line and control line. So a 1 would mean the lines are exactly the same and indicates a positive while anything below 1 would be a negative result

@gingermama29 DH tells me he doesn't want to go look at flooring so I guess I'm just going to have to browse websites :( sad. It's pretty amazing how quickly we go through our plates and silverware WFH now. And it's just the 2 of us!

ETA: also, can you tell I'm totally not motivated to do work today? :D

  • **lurking**

@emmylou78 Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? That helped me a lot when I first started all of this
  • I haven't read that or the FF course @fameonmain2

    Thanks, guys!  <3

  • @emmylou78 I also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. If you read the beginning you can just jump around after that to the parts that interest you. It’s so interesting! To answer your question some people do get a dip before O but you are looking for a temp shift to confirm ovulation. Based on your chart ovulation isn’t confirmed but I do wonder if you are just having a learning curve for taking your temp.
  • @bows22 I agree with TCYF. Reading the beginning to get a base knowledge and then just skip to sections that are needed. I thought it was a great reference book and I really wish instead of traditional sex ed (ie don't have sex) that we taught girls about fertility science so they know how to better influence when and when they dont want to get pregnant.
