    Blue, Teddy 💙

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: as tall as a twizzler lol

    Upcoming appointments:
30th... kinda dreading it because of my weight BUT still excited to hear Teddy's heartbeat.

    How are you feeling?:
distracted at work tbh.. I think the whole baby brain thing is real. I'm trying really hard to stay focused. But overall I feel pretty good. I am kinda worried about various things but I think it's normal given the circumstances (holidays, pregnant and a pandemic etc.)

    Rants/Raves: 🤔🤷‍♀️

    Questions: --

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) sweet potatoes... which is funny because I hated them as a kid. We eat them often. My Husband makes them sooo good 😋

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A cantaloupe, eggplant or GI Joe lol

Upcoming appointments:  a gastro appt tomorrow, OB in a month

How are you feeling?: I'm so over the stomach stuff.  The way it behaves and is triggered is not like what most resources say a typical ulcer should so I'm at a loss, so I set up a follow up for tomorrow instead of waiting a month for my next appt. Let's just say it's been a bad stomach weekend.

Rants/Raves: Nesting is real. The urge to nest kicked in last weekend and it continues. It feels so good to organize and declutter spaces I've just been "dealing" with all year. Yay for a short holiday work week!

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) Oh, this is hard.  Just to make the choice easier, I'll stick to favorite Thanksgiving side -- mashed potatoes with gravy

Upcoming appointments: I have to make my next ob appointment for 2 weeks from now, next scan is December 15.

How are you feeling?: Feeling ok, I'm exhausted from the weekend, but looking forward to a short week!

Rants/Raves: I'm so excited for a short week this week! I know it's going to be a weird Thanksgiving but I'm grateful in a way that I don't have to exhaust myself this year for it. I'm hoping life will be a little more normal next Thanksgiving, and will frame it that way for myself this year.

    Questions: Not at the moment

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) I love mashed potatoes!!! I usually make them for our family Thanksgiving - MH and I work on them together and make a huge batch, and we rice the potatoes to make them really smooth!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Baby is as tall as a container of Lysol disinfecting wipes. Haven't seen those for a while...  :D

Upcoming appointments: Dec 15 for 28 week ultrasound (growth check), third trimester labs (including glucose tolerance test), and regular OB appointment

How are you feeling?: Physically pretty good, aside from tiredness and lower back pain. And the baby's kicks and rolls are getting stronger! I had my 24 week appointment today and there were no major issues. Blood pressure and weight within normal expected range, no bleeding, no contractions, baby's heart rate in the 160s. After two ectopic pregnancies, I am just so surprised that everything in this pregnancy is going fairly smoothly, and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Though she did manage to blast her way through my wonky tubes, so I think she must be a super baby :)

Rants/Raves: Not celebrating the holidays with family is a bummer, but also kind of a relief in some ways. I know we are making the best choice we can for our family and community.

Questions: Have you/when did you tour the birthing center/hospital, sign up for birth classes, and sign up for breastfeeding classes? As a FTM in the middle of this pandemic, I am just feeling quite lost on some of these practical things.

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) I am a bit of a coleslaw aficionado, and will try it whenever it's available at a new-to-me restaurant. I generally prefer the vinegary type with large cabbage shreds over the sweet, creamy type with tiny little cabbage bits.
  • @cmortmain - when we did the tour and birthing class last time, we were around 8 months I think. The class actually didn’t let you register until you were at least a certain way along (I want to say 7+ months), so check the requirements. The birthing class had a couple of useful tips; I think it was best for those with absolutely no experience with kids at all though. The tour I found helpful because I knew where to go to check in, which took that stress off. I wonder if hospitals are doing tours during covid though, I’d suspect not. I’m not aware of any breastfeeding specific classes in my area that you’d do before the kid is here. The childbirth class covered a tiny bit, then the nurse helped show how to get started when the baby was here. Then there was a lactation consultant at the hospital, and a class you could go to there either before or after discharge. So check into your local options. Honestly I think it would be hard/not super helpful for me personally to do a breastfeeding class without the baby here, as so much of it is about squeezing your breast and pushing the baby to you to get the proper latch, which you figure out based on feel. I suppose going through some hold options could be helpful before though!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:

Upcoming appointments: just did glucose testing today so waiting on those results. My teeth hurt haha. Midwife appointment in Dec. 8th

How are you feeling?: good, although tired as DD1 has been sick all week and was just so much extra work this weekend we didn’t get a break at all.

Rants/Raves: we’re going to decorate for Christmas this coming weekend and I’m more excited for that than I usually am!

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise)  Mmmm mac & cheese, although I’d totally eat that as a meal by itself
  • @cmortmain I think our hospital is doing virtual classes for newborn and breastfeeding.  I took both classes with my first and I don't think a virtual environment would take anything away from the content of the course.  I was about 6-8 weeks out when I took them last time.  I don't think my hospital is doing tours right now bc of covid, but last time, it was wrapped into the childbirth class - they cook us on a tour the last day of the class.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Some really weird stuff on babysizer.com but Cauliflower on here.

Upcoming appointments: 28 week growth scan in Dec (can't remember the date at the moment) and I am unable to do the glucose testing so I will be checking my blood sugar in weeks 26-28 every day, 3 to 4 times a day. Baby is running a bit small due to Lovenox so I will be seeing her at 28, 32, and 36 weeks.

How are you feeling?: Heartburn and sciatica again and having issues staying asleep and I am so...tired.

Rants/Raves: My parents surprised us this weekend with a gorgeous and huge Canadian glider and I want to sit in it all day!

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) Will always and forever be stuffing.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Grapefruit

    Upcoming appointments: December 1st

How are you feeling?: Pretty good but I am getting some pelvic discomfort

Rants/Raves: Looking forward to a long weekend! My officially start date for my new position is the 1st but I will be slowly transitioning into the role over the next month. I need to talk to my office manager about my promotion first thing next week so we can start making plans for my patients which is going to be stressful. When I dropped down to part time in the clinic back about a month ago the transition was painful because nothing can ever be done effectively which as a planner really drives me bonkers.

Questions: I need a new bassinet for this baby and I'm so torn on what to do! I have been looking at the Snoo or mamaroo but the Snoo is crazy expensive even to rent. The Mamaroo is more reasonable but it's still expensive and the reviews are a bit mixed. So that leaves me with thinking I should just do something simple like the Halo? I had a pack and play for my daughter and it didn't work out well for us. The mattress it comes with is awful and I ended up breaking it on accident. We just put her crib up in our room and used that until we moved her to her own room but I would rather not do that again either because it just takes up so much space. I also can't move a crib around the house if I wanted him to take a nap in the living room or something.

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) I looove green bean casserole and I really only ever make it on holidays.
  • @kloe818 I have been having awful insomnia lately too. I started my day at 3AM several times over the past week!

@cmortmain I miss disinfectant wipes so bad!!! I seriously wonder if we will ever see them again. lol I want to say I toured the hospital and did all the classes in Jan/Feb when my daughter was due in April.

@treebagel Definitely talk to your doctor about tums. Mine was pretty adamant that I not take theme everyday because she said they can cause kidney stones!

@mvt2003 I can't wrap my head around having two spaghetti squash's inside me!

@juliebeannn Nesting has kicked in for me too! I'm throwing everything in my house away at the moment.

@princessjenney Teddy is a really cute name! Is that going to be his full name or just a nickname?

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a demi-baguette

    Upcoming appointments: 12/14

How are you feeling?: good, but I'm having some terrible hip pain at night. I spend most of the night rolling around, trying to find a somewhat comfortable position.

Rants/Raves: I am not enjoying trying to put together a registry. My sister sent me a list of stuff I should include, but then there are 7 million options and I just want someone to pick for me. I'm over it.

Questions: Does anyone have any book recs for handling newborns?

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish? (For thanksgiving or otherwise) For Thanksgiving, it is my husband's aunt's stuffing. We aren't getting together this year, but she is still making it for me. I don't really care the rest of the traditional thanksgiving meal.

@juliebeannn so much nesting here too and hubby has caught the bug. I informed him we have 15 weeks to due date and even less due to being induced early with all likelihood. He's been a madman about getting rid of crap we aren't using and I'm letting him. Also convinced him it's time to get a real size Christmas tree because all the apartment sized ones we have take up more space than the one tall one.

@jenotontx it's ridiculous. The only position I can find to stop the pain is my back.
  • @jenotontx I'm debating what kind of bassinet to get too. The baby's room is upstairs and ours is downstairs, so I want something in our room for the first few months. I can't decide what is worth the money and reading reviews is making me crazy.
  • @jenotontx I really liked the halo.  We had one that had a few options on it including a vibrate feature that my son loved as a baby.  It swivels which was also handy when trying to lull him back to sleep in MOTN.

@cmortmain I signed up for classes through my OB. I kinda wish I took the breastfeeding class, though I don’t know if it would’ve helped or not. We took the actual class in May and I was due first week of July

@juliebeannn how did your GI appointment go? I really hope they can get you feeling better soon

@treebagel sorry your heartburn is bad too! Im currently taking Prilosec and Pepcid 1-2x/day. It’s definitely better with the addition of the Prilosec, hopefully the OB can help you feel better

@finnflan ugh I want to decorate this weekend so bad but my H wants to wait until dec 1st and I can't bring up the christmas tree by myself. Major eyeroll lol
