Re: Questions week of 11/1

  • Anybody order their free insurance breast pump yet? I just did the Aeroflow thing and went with the Medela Pump in Style, just wanted one with a battery pack this time (I have a spectra s2 from my previous pregnancy).

  • @ckmb_1250 I'm splurging this time and getting the willow which isn't covered 100% through insurance but I need to check to see if it's available as an upgrade/partial reimbursement! I did the Medela Pump in Style last time. I know it can be different with each baby but I had to be plugged in for FOREVER to get enough milk to make it worth it last time and I just cannot do that again.
  • @gusgus14 100% splurging for the willow this time too. I won't order til we're in the new house but I hated being so confined for pumping last time.
  • @gusgus14 nice! The Willow was on my list but was still like $275 with insurance. I don’t plan to pump a ton this time so I guess I can always go back to my Spectra if this one sucks 😂 it seemed to have good reviews though!
  • @ckmb_1250 I went the opposite direction, started with the PIS for my first two, and then switched to the S2 for my third. Sadly, I won't qualify for another one because it's been less than 3 years since I got the last one.
I will tell you that the PIS is MUCH noisier. Other than that, I don't know that I saw that much difference. Unlike, the S2, it only has one setting to change, so the vacuum and cycle change together, but that didn't really bother me.
I will say that with my first (PIS) I had amazing supply, and with #2&3 (PIS then S2) I had moderate supply, so I don't think the pump has too much impact on that, (unless I was using it wrong). Figuring out supply is such a mind game.
  • Y'all should also see if your insurance covers renting hospital grade equipment.  Mine does and it was very inexpensive. If you've had a hard time producing in the past, that might be an option, at least for a while!

  • my insurance doesnt let me do this until im about 20wks, so i have some time to research.  based on all the wonderful targeted ads i get, the willow looks awesome!  though who knows what the WFH situation will be like in 2021 and if i can be home a lot i'm wondering if its worth the splurge.  so many options, all so overwhelming being a FTM!!  (especially for something i dont even know if i will keep up with!!)
  • Anyone not feeling pregnant? I ordered a stupid doppler weeks ago and it still isn't here, blah.

  • @texas_t i've been anxiously awaiting your doppler review!! cant believe you still dont have it.

and yes, the past two days i got that feeling because i was less nauseous and less tired.  such a mindf-- .... only thing keeping my sane is that my boobs are SO sore that there would be no other explanation lol
  • @asf0613 Yeah, I'm irritated! I stopped taking my progesterone last week, so I'm not feeling quite as horrible.  I'm still randomly nauseated and tired, but the mind is a funny and annoying thing.

  • @texas_t I don't feel pregnant at all. I'm 14 weeks today. I had a doppler from my previous pregnancies so that's put my mind at ease. I hope yours arrives soon!

  • @texas_t I wouldn't say not pregnant, but significantly better! like I feel human and have porn star boobs to remind me that I'm pregnant.

  • @texas_t I know what you mean, I've been feeling better too (except for yesterday...), and today at the OB we heard the baby's heartbeat on the doppler and I was like "Oh! Hi baby!"
  • @texas_t yup. I was coming here to ask the same thing. I'm still nauseous but I don't *feel* pregnant. My doctor couldn't get the hb at my last appt but wasn't worried. It's such a mindfork.
I see her next week so hopefully it puts my mind at ease.
  • I ordered another doppler that should be here Thursday. We'll see.....

  • I ordered a new one too because I don't true my hand me down one. 🤞
  • @texas_t I've been feeling the same way. I feel so different than when I was pregnant with DS. I had my 12 week apt today and was so happy to hear her heartbeat.

  • @ruby0902 and other Lovenox ladies! Did you stop taking your blood thinners for a certain amount of time before getting a cell-free dna test? I was just told my test failed in the lab and I’m wondering if it’s because if the Lovenox. Also, which specific first trimester screening tests did you do that did work? Looking for a path forward. Thank you!
  • 🙋🏽‍♀️ Also not feeling super pregnant today at 12+5. I’ll only have appointments once/month now after getting spoiled with ultrasounds every 2 weeks, so I’m looking forward to when I can start feeling baby move around for more constant reassurance.
  • I just remembered today to look into getting a new pump through insurance! I had a Medela that past two babies but my friend really recommends the Spectra I think it is.
Does anyone here have a 3 row SUV that also has good trunk space? We're going to need a bigger car that can fit 3 carseats and we want enough room for the double stroller plus our dog because we go on trips a lot. It seems like a Suburban might be the best thing but it seems so giant and I'm sure it will be costly for gas
  • @julianne0 I just bought a Hyundai Palisade and I LOVE it. It has a decent amount of trunk space, but the dog would need to go between the Captain chairs. We have a 105 rhodesian ridgeback who can ride that way.
  • Hey @ccmrc143 - I have been taking lovenox and baby aspirin since conceiving. For screening, I did the QNATAL test from Quest when I was 10w5d. I didn't stop my injections at all.  Test came back and everything screened normal. The fetal fraction can be low if you're too early on, so that's why they have you wait until at least then. I wanted to wait till I was closer to 11w to have mine. Hopefully you can retest again soon!!
  • @brynn_mamaof4 that's such a good point about putting the dog between the captain chairs! I really like the look of that Hyundai. I keep telling DH we might just need to get one of those roof rack storage things for trips and then we won't have to be concerned about having a big enough trunk. I'm really trying to avoid getting a gas guzzler!
  • @julianne0 the technology on the palisade absolutely blows my mind. I find something new every time I drive it. I feel like if it had a BMW or other luxury car symbol on it it would easily be an 80k vehicle. Everything you get on it for the price is amazing! Can’t beat it. Hyundai has great warranties too.
  • @julianne0 we have the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and are very happy with it. It fits three car seats across the middle row, and then has plenty of truck space. Our plan is to eventually get a minivan but that's still a few years out. When this baby comes we'll start using the third row and probably get a roof rack.
