Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a pineapple. Already??
How are you feeling?: Using up my space this week for my question...see below.
Rants/Raves: Quick rave: moving this week into our home. Will finally be able to nest! Boy am I feeling the urge.
Questions: I really hope a STM can answer this--I haven't really searched the internet yet, but at least the app today gave me some insight. It said, and confirmed what I've been experiencing this past week, that fetuses at this stage get less violent in their movements. I have been slightly confused this past week as the intense kicks have been significantly reduced to jab-type movements. I guess it's bc baby is running out of room in there? But I wasn't expecting the movements to be reduced. I've been realizing I go most of the day without feeling the baby (or noticing at least), and then I freak out by the EOD and when I tune in, I realize the movements are just waaaay less intense than the last few weeks. STMs: what has been your experience? Does it start ramping up again? I've always heard moms complaining of the sharp jabs and movements in the 3rd tri. Really didn't expect a relief from kicks at this stage.
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? I always eat yogurt and fruit, and usually a hashbrown or some sort of potatoes.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: napa cabbage
Upcoming appointments: not until November
How are you feeling?: Eh, not real complaints this week. I'm just uncomfortable
Rants/Raves: I work in a nursing home and we have our first resident who is COVID+. The only good thing is that all staff are finally wearing their PPE correctly, not just my staff.
Questions: none right now
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? Omelette with toast!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: palm is the size of a starburst!
Upcoming appointments: check up today! Ultrasound 11/4
How are you feeling?: my back hurts
Rants/Raves: nursery almost done! Well need a nursery thread here soon! We’re just doing some finishing touches!
Zoom baby shower this weekend! Finally get to open all the loot that’s been sent to my house taunting me for the last month!
Questions: has anyone else doc tried to push them 6 weeks still? I’m 27 almost 28 weeks and when making my next apt today they said okay 6 weeks and I fought them on it. So I guess 4 weeks for my next one then it’ll turn into every week..
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? gahhhh I love everything breakfast it’s my favorite food 🧇🥞🥓🍳🥐🍓🥑
@lavenderclouds So movement is odd at this gestation and until birth. You should continue to meet your kick counts, but they may feel differently. You may feel more rolls/punches/shifts and not so many huge kicks. Hiccups don’t count towards kick counts, but everything else does. You don’t need to be alarmed unless you’re not meeting your kick counts, but you will probably continue to feel more rolling than anything. They just don’t have the same amount of space.
@briemo That’s odd. I’m 27 weeks and I’m on biweekly appointments. I’d be frustrated even with 4 weeks.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 26+6

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Kale
Upcoming appointments: Biweekly appt 10/29
How are you feeling?: Pretty good for the most part but baby is looooow.
Rants/Raves: None this week
Questions: Nope
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? Eggs benedict. I can’t do sweet for breakfast.
@lavenderclouds Yay for your move, I hope it goes smoothly! I've also been confused this week about movement and I'm a few days behind you. Yesterday mid-day (normally when she moves a bit) I realized I wasn't feeling much and freaked out a little, but felt her a bit when I just sat and put my hands on my belly...but it definitely did feel less aggressive than it used to. I guess the guidance is just to tune in and see if you get to 5 movements in an hour or 10 in 2 hours, if you've noticed a decrease? @amm126 Ugh sorry about the Covid+ test at work, hopefully the PPE is effective and it stays under control. @briemo Ugh I only had to wait 6 weeks once when dr. was on vacation and then I was the following week...I think 4 is standard for most of pregnancy until it moves to every two weeks and then every week at the end. That's good you insisted on four weeks! @jumpy57 I don't move to biweekly until after next month, after my 32 week appt. I kind of thought they would start after this week (28)...I only have 3 biweekly appointments and then they do every week at the very end.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 28+5, 1/8
FTM/STM/STM+: FTM
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: pink
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: coconut, has eyelashes
Upcoming appointments: this afternoon for glucose test
How are you feeling?: Okay, also a little taken a back by how movement is changing this week!
Rants/Raves: Definitely getting into nesting mode this weekend, it hit me the other day how much we have to do to start getting the baby's room organized and also the need to reorganize the kitchen and make sure there's room for various baby things is hitting me big time.
Questions: is it bad that I added maybe a teaspoon or so of brown sugar to my oatmeal this morning, before my glucose test? Probably not right?
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? Avocado toast on good bread with a soft boiled/over easy egg is sooo delicious to me. On weekends I like to make buttermilk pancakes.
@lavenderclouds my doc told me yesterday to start keeping count at 32 weeks and should feel 5 movements an hour then! I definitely have more active and less active days 🙃 (I’ve been keeping count since ab week 21 🤓)
Thanks everyone for your comments to my q! Once I tune in, I feel that baby is super active. I can feel 10 movements in 1-2m usually. So I have no worries on lack of activity just yet. I was just shocked that the big kicks stopped. FTM assumption that the kicks would increase in intensity.
@whitealbum29 Re your sugar in oatmeal: I had to laugh. I'm sure you'll be fine. I did have a moment where I realized the glucose test is 100g of sugar in 5m. I had to look up any foods/drinks that even come close--nothing does. I've never come close to that intake in my entire adult life. I was shocked that this is a pregnancy appropriate measure. Baby responded to that test alright--never felt more activity--two hours straight of movement.
@briemo I agree 6w btw appts is odd at this stage, but idk, personally I would accept it if my Dr. suggested that. Low risk and some of these intermittent appts seem relatively pointless where they just ask if you have any qs. Nope, ok, done. I guess it's good that they monitor urine and vitals for any concerns that can arise though, so I get the frequency.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Acorn squash
Upcoming appointments: None until the beginning of Nov
How are you feeling?: Good! I have had a few nosebleeds in the last few days and I guess I haven't had those since I was kid so I was shocked how hard they were to stop haha. They seem to have died off and H got me some saline spray so hopefully that helps.
Rants/Raves: I didn't think I was going to have a shower with the way everything is now (and I was totally okay with that) but I just found out my friends are doing kind of a hybrid shower in a format that I'm comfortable with so I'm really excited for that. I don't love attention on me but it will be nice to have our first baby celebrated. I think work will do a zoom shower at some point too.
Questions:
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? Probably waffles or pancakes. My normal breakfast is usually a smoothie though.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Eggplant
Upcoming appointments: Growth scan yesterday. She is growing right on track, and everything looks good so far. Next one is 11/18.
How are you feeling?: The usual indigestion/acid reflux at night, but other than that, no complaints. Tired occasionally, though.
Rants/Raves: As soon as my husband gets his office ready, we can finally start on the nursery! Completely procrastinating on a will, though.
Questions:
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? I pretty much eat toast and peanut butter, and usually eggs, and maybe a fruit. But I really like pancakes, and I could really go for a bagel.
@lavendarclouds: Good luck with the move! @jumpy57: I think I start biweekly appts at the next appointment (32 weeks). I was a little surprised it wasn't after my last one at 28 weeks, but I guess if they feel like things are going well, they don't feel the need to see you as often until you get closer. I could be way off base here though.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I haven’t even looked yet today...
Upcoming appointments: In 2 weeks for glucose test and regular OB
How are you feeling?: I’m tired again, and if I do any sort of normal physical activity I’m so sore by the end of the day.
Rants/Raves: My OB and MFM have both made multiple comments lately about being extra cautious about COVID, I’m not one to worry, but it’s definitely stressed me out a little more than normal with heading into winter. DH’s family, plus extended family has been planning a thanksgiving feast for 2020 for the past couple years. Last I heard they were still doing it, but we are definitely not going. My MFM said if I got COVID I would need to take daily injections in my stomach for a week or two 😬. No thanks! I haven’t researched it any further, but I know she said it had something to do with clotting, and it could just be because of my history and high risk.
*I’m not terribly sad about missing out on it anyway.
Questions: Why/when did the get rid of birth announcements on the BMB’s? That was a stalking favorite past time, especially as I neared the end.
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? I looooove sweet, French toast, Belgian waffles, pancakes....

@lavenderclouds It’s definitely normal to have a decrease in jarring movements. The space gets smaller, and baby becomes slightly more aware of its limbs. You should still feel lots of rolling and (less violent) kicks, but also I noticed that from like 34 weeks+, give or take, movements can still be uncomfortable or sometimes painful just because baby is bigger and stronger.
@briemo 6 weeks seems like a long time at this point. Mine are out four weeks, but they move to every two weeks after 30, then every week starting at 36. Assuming of course a normal end of pregnancy, and no early labor signs, high blood pressure, etc.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Lettuce
Upcoming appointments: Midwife on Tuesday
How are you feeling?: Feeling good overall... Finding myself slowing down as I’m getting more sore in general...
Rants/Raves: We are making progress on some home projects which will eventually make way for setting up the baby room! It’s like a domino effect/ shuffle happening between three rooms over here.
Questions: I’ve been having some “wow, this is really happening” feelings lately. Anyone else? It’s hard to explain... of course I know I’m pregnant but it’s starting to really sink in that I’m about to meet someone who I will love so so much and I’m starting to get so curious about who he will be.
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? My favourite is probably a classic bacon and egg breakfast like you would get at a diner. Eggs over easy and accompanied by home fries and toast. Mmm.
@msjaay Yay for a baby shower! @savykay Ugh good call re: Thanksgiving. Some of my immediate family is gathering but they're kind of in each other's Covid circle and everyone is fine with us just staying home. I bet your doctors are warning you just because of the holidays coming up with lots of people apparently planning to gather, plus the fact that it's already spiking again in a lot of places as we get into winter. But good that you're already planning to be cautious about the holiday! Re: birth announcements, I think they don't put them up anymore because boards seem to either move to private Bump groups or private Facebook groups by the time their babies are born, so they feel more comfortable sharing photos and stuff just with the people they've been talking to during pregnancy. We should talk about that soon! @oaktree6 Yes to those feelings! I definitely have a lot of FTM anxiety about what the first newborn weeks will really be like but am also starting to feel overwhelmed with excitement/disbelief about meeting her! I think all the time about what she'll be like/if she'll take after me or H in terms of her nature or will be kind of different from both of us.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Cauliflower
Upcoming appointments: Glucose and a bunch of shots next week
How are you feeling?: I'm getting tired-ish, and feeling less alert. I don't know if it's just a hormone swing or what. My husband made fun of me from the other room because the What to Expect: The First Year book was making me laugh and then cry on repeat so I sounded insane.
Rants/Raves: I just this week realized that as a Jan 31 due date, I'm probably in the wrong group/will watch everyone else have their kids and the board go totally silent.
Questions: I started making my birth plan and trying to think through some of the decisions that'll come up. I guess some of what I've been reading about is state-mandated anyway, so I have some research to do. And I'm still not totally sold on bringing a print out to the hospital - I guess my question is: do doctors/nurses just hate that? Should I just bring it and have it for my husband to reference?
GTKY: What's your favorite breakfast food? ALL OF THEM - eggs on toast (super good if you also put on some kind of blueberry jalapeno jam), made marzipancakes today (pancakes with little bits of marzipan in them). I'm also a very big fan of breakfast tater tot casseroles, french toast, cinnamon buns, even just a nice bowl of cereal or oatmeal. It is my very favorite meal.
@msjaay aww I'm glad you found a shower alternative that works for you! You deserve it
@oaktree6 That's the sweetest feeling and I've been getting it too! As a FTM especially, my mind is just more blown every day. Feeling very blessed and excited.
@whitealbum29 I am so excited to see what kind of person this little baby is going to be too. I think about it all the time. I hope she takes after her dad for sure - I think they'll be besties.
@hanfam2021 same here with a 1/30 due date so I've been on this board and the Feb board as well. I found it really beneficial to have everything written out just so I could think it through and "see" it. I may have printed it out but I don't think I pulled it out at the hospital. My doctor also likes taking through a general plan at about 37 weeks
@hanfam2021 same here. I'm a 28/30 due date (depending on which doctor I ask haha) so I stalk the February board too. We'll definitely still be around! Unless we decide to move to a more private format.
@savykay same with my doctor. She said there's a major push right now to increase the risk category for pregnant women through the CDC website. I think we're at a 'could be' at higher risk for Covid complications on the website and she said the obstetrics society is kind of baffled because we're considered higher risk for almost any other virus due to your immune system taking a hit to help grow one for the baby. She said they should be changing it soon but I don't know the timeline. I had just assumed the 'could be' was a definite this whole time though.
We're having the same holiday conversations that it sounds like several of you are having. We may need a thread for that one! haha
@jumpy57 thanks! That sounds like exactly what I should do and also I will have to start lurking on the Feb board to see what they're up to - and I'm feeling less weird about it now that I know you and @msjaay are over there!
@hanfam2021@msjaay@jumpy57 I have a 1/28 due date and have been thinking the same things. I’ll have to start stalking February so I feel less grumpy when I everyone here has had their baby already 😂. Probably too late to start participating, but it’ll be fun to not feel like the caboose come January.

@briemo That’s odd. I’m 27 weeks and I’m on biweekly appointments. I’d be frustrated even with 4 weeks.
Plain checkup tomorrow
Soooooo tired. Likely a combo of pregnancy, and our 4 year old not sleeping well
Q: when did people switch to more frequent appointments?
Breakfast: a scotch egg (boiled egg wrapped in sausage, breaded and fried ❤️)
Movement: less big kicks and more rolling/stretching. Anything painful usually comes from awkward stretching.
@amm126 Ugh sorry about the Covid+ test at work, hopefully the PPE is effective and it stays under control.
