Re: *ama/high risk pregnancy check-in* week of 10/20
Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? I am tantalizing close to being able to taper off progesterone and I can't wait. I'm taking it orally, which I've read can magnify the side effects, so I'm hoping once I'm off I might start feeling like a human again! Tomorrow is my last appointment until the week of Thanksgiving. Holy moly that feels really far away. My next big area of concern is weight gain. I weigh the most I've ever weighed at the beginning of pregnancy so it makes me really nervous, because I'm not typically a low gainer. That being said, I've gained no weight this pregnancy, which is unprecedented for me. I hope it's an indicator of my future!
How are feeling physically/mentally? Physically I'm feeling a bit of relief. I don't feel nauseated 24/7 and I actually had a bit of energy this weekend (we went to the pumpkin patch AND I sorted through a ton of clothes). Mentally I'm doing well, I think. Always anxious in the first trimester, but I had a good US last Monday and I have an appt to hear bebe on the dopper tomorrow. I also ordered a doppler that should be here at the end of this week which hopefully will help me get to Thanksgiving!

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? My Ob wanted me to start taking aspirin, but I really try to avoid any medicine while pregnant. Anyone have experience with aspirin during pregnancy? I guess I want things to be as natural as possible. I have my NIPT next week, cannot wait to see peanut again! We would have the baby no matter what, I really just want the extra ultrasound and to know the gender.
How are feeling physically/mentally? Still exhausted, but with moments of clarity and energy. Still get cold easily. Only nauseous once or twice a day instead of all day. I do feel much older this pregnancy, I know I’m only 36, but I have an almost 14 year old, 9yr, and 4yr old. Those pregnancies were WAY easier in first tri. Mentally, I’m trying really hard not to stress, but I care about politics. So I’m struggling over here. You guys are my happy distraction.

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? Just found out yesterday theres two di/di twins. I forgot to ask the dr. if I should be taking any extra supplements. Have you just been taking your regular prenatal or anything in addition to that?
How are feeling physically/mentally? Physically, I am so nauseous and so exhausted I feel drugged. But, sooooo nauseous. Mentally, I'm still in shock I am growing two babies and in 9 months I will have 2 infants to care for (plus my two other sons). I was initially excited when they first said "there's two" but since yesterday have gotten tearful with fear every time I think about two.

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? I called my OB's office yesterday for an update on my appointment with MFM. They contacted them and were hoping to have an appointment yeaterday or today. Hopefully I hear something soon.
ETA: MFM called and I have an appointment next Friday.
How are feeling physically/mentally? I'm ok. Nausea is less now. I hope that continues. My energy is still low. I took a 30 minute nap on my desk yesterday. Yesterday MIL picked up my daughter and brought her to visit great grandparents and DD told them she's gonna be a big sister. So there is another group who knows. I don't know if MIL told them not to share news. I should probably tell work soon, because great grandma is friends with the CEO. I don't know why I'm so nervous about it. It probably won't be a big deal.
@yellingbanana I typically go with what the dr says. My thoughts are they went to school for a long time 12+ years and have been practicing for a while (In my case 30+ years), so I assume they know the risks/benefits and are acting in my best interest. Also on politics, I'm enjoying this distraction. The world is a mess right now.

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? Genetic blood test results came back today and everything screened back normal! So happy since my 2nd pregnancy ended due to a Trisomy-18 baby. The gender results are also in that report but I haven't seen them yet because I promised my husband we'd look together and he's "not ready yet"...he better be ready by tonight or I'm looking at them myself!! I can't understand how he just doesn't want to tear it open, lol. More to come on that soon I hope ♡
How are feeling physically/mentally? My nausea actually was the worst it's been in the first half of this week but seems to be becoming more intermittent although still pretty frequent! I am just starting to process that I might actually have this pregnancy and baby ❤❤❤

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? They called me to schedule my cerclage yesterday. November 9 it is! It's like 90% certain we'll go ahead with the procedure but I still have some questions for my doctor. I didn't hear back from my OB after my blood last week so I suppose my TSH was fine.
How are feeling physically/mentally? I feel ok, I have more energy and less nausea. Mentally I do feel more confident that this pregnancy will have a happy ending. I did get a bit nervous after we scheduled my surgery as it is in less than 3 weeks now, so coming super fast, and then I have to rest for 2 weeks. I'm thinking of having my mom come over to cook a few meals for us to help my fiancé out a little... I know there are risks to any interventions and that is what is making me nervous, I really hope all goes well from there and I'm not too panicky before and after the procedure.
@ruby0902 Congratulations on the baby girl!

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? Not really. Asked my OB if we can try to see the sex at my next appointment (around 16 weeks) and she said we can try but they just use a portable to check the heartbeats and it’s old and super low quality so we might not be able to tell. But! She said they’ll probably do a 16 week scan at MFM to check my cervix length so I’m going to ask at my first MFM appointment next week if they’ll check at the 16 week appointment. I just don’t want to wait until 20 weeks and if they’re having to do a scan at 16 weeks anyway 🤷♀️
How are feeling physically/mentally? Today I’m actually feeling pretty okay physically. Still a little nauseous but not nearly as bad as it has been. Fingers crossed it’s not a fluke! Mentally I’m constantly going back and forth between being excited and freaked out and then happy and sad about this likely being my last pregnancy.
@mrs_massie my OB mentioned taking calcium and Vitamin D in addition to my prenatal due to twins but I haven’t started yet and not sure when I’m supposed to. I should probably ask! She also said I’ll need to start baby aspirin starting second trimester.
@gusgus14 So glad you're joining us! I think your logic about finding out the sex at 16 weeks is impeccable! lol I hope you get to! I'm so glad your nausea has let up a bit - fx it continues to!
@dylnn484 Hopefully your exhaustion begins to let up soon and all progresses well!

Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? I started spotting brown on Tuesday, but it’s been light. My subchorionic hematoma is the same size (or, a millimeter bigger, but that’s negligible) than it was at 8w and now there is a placental lake, as well. OB is wondering if I should stop the Lovenox injections (which I take because I have factor v Leiden clotting disorder) because perhaps they’re not helping/might be causing these bleeds. Meeting with my hematologist tomorrow to talk about this, and then I’ll know more at my first trimester screen on November 5 with my new MFM.
How are feeling physically/mentally? Physically I’m tired and nauseous, having trouble staying asleep. Mentally I’m tired and discouraged. I so wanted good news on the ultrasound yesterday, telling me the hematoma was resolving and that things were starting to look normal. I know there isn’t anything to worry about with the placental lake, and it doesn’t cause complications. But it still is scary. And that the hematoma hasn’t grown drastically is a good sign. I just want to start enjoying this, and I have no idea if/when I will be able to feel confident. Trying to hard to stay positive!

meds and I am feeling a lot better. I’ve had a few dizzy spells this week but am mostly feeling good.
Any updates/changes/new concerns regarding your pregnancy? I had high BP in the ER so had to go back for a check this week. Thankfully my BP was back to normal. That’s all for me lol
How are feeling physically/mentally? Still pretty nauseous and getting a lot of heartburn. Mentally I am feeling good, we told my family this week and we have an ultrasound on Monday. I’m already sick of the lovenox shots but it’ll be fiiiiiiiiiiiine.
@ruby0902 oh no! I'm hoping it's just a cold!

and @ruby0902 holy goodness! I will cross my fingers that it is just a regular cold 🤞🤞🤞
It's been an interesting progression of symptoms - first I had more flu-like symptoms (fatigue, headache, low-grade fever, muscle aches), and about 36hrs in, I started getting a stuffy/runny nose and light cough. Yesterday my fever was gone in the morning, but then returned in the afternoon hours. Cough is gone but stuffy/ runny nose and sinus headaches have prevailed.
On top of dealing with the cold/flu symptoms, I'm also dealing with pregnancy bloat, heartburn, and nausea as well! Pretty uncomfortable state, lol. I had myself a nice little cry last night because I haven't felt like I've been able to focus on the baby this weekend and hope she's doing okay in there! Thankfully, current COVID data shows little-to-no impact on 12wk pregnancies- I guess the timeframe for greatest concern is your 3rd trimester. I'm managing symptoms with tylenol, fluids, and rest and just hoping I'll start to turn the corner soon. I cancelled all my appts. for next week, so I won't be able to do my originally planned ultrasound on Monday to get announcement keepsake photos. Hopefully I'll be able to reschedule for early November!
Please send some good vibes my way ♡♡ I'll keep you all posted.

@mimser - No idea! My husband and I don't go out that much as it is, and when we do, we always take the full mask, hand sanitizer, and social distancing precautions. We did take a short road trip last weekend to see a couple friends at their lake cottage, but even that was somewhat remote, so it's impossible to tell. We weren't around any known infections or anything like that and I use my hand sanitizer religously whenever I'm out of the house. Oh - and my husband has been completely fine this whole time!
