Re: All Trimester Check-In - Week of 10/5/20

  • Oh my, I just realized I’m next up on the list! 😳😬. Can’t believe it’s October already!

    • How far along/EDD? 34w3d / 11.13
    • How are you feeling this week? I’ll feel good for a few days and then really uncomfortable for a day or two. Same with sleeping...will have 1-2 restless bad nights and then a few good nights in a row
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Had a growth US and OB appt today - all looks good! Baby is estimated to be 5lbs already so might end up being a big baby, yikes! Got confirmation that once we are at the hospital, DH won’t be able to leave at all so we are really starting to stress about childcare for DD. I also can’t labor at home too long since I’m GBS positive and will need antibiotics. I really am not comfortable with my in laws watching DD but DH really wants them too so not sure how to navigate that
    • Any upcoming appointments? Two weeks from today and then they start every week!
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? Butternut squash!

    • How far along/EDD? 6w2d/May 30
    • How are you feeling this week?  A little beat up by the symptoms, but at least their presence helps put my mind at ease.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? I really need to incorporate more exercise into my days - it actually really helps with the uncomfortable symptoms. Even a simple walk outside does wonders, yet, many days I hibernate at my work computer and don't even step outside.   :(
    • Any upcoming appointments? Excited for the ultrasound this Thursday, can't wait to hear the hearbeat for the first time!
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? Sweet pea  <3

    • How far along/EDD? 34 weeks/ 11/17
    • How are you feeling this week?Good most of the time. Sleep has been off and on. Some nights I sleep great, and others I am uncomfortable and have to pee a million times.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? How is it October already?!? I’m excited to meet our little guy, but I’m starting to get really nervous. He is still breech, which stresses me out. Also, my OB doesn’t want me to go past 39 weeks, so that is only 5 weeks or less! 😬😬
    • Any upcoming appointments? Friday I have OB, NST, and biophysical profile.
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? Butternut squash
@FuzzyDust First ultrasound is so exciting! I’m sorry you are dealing with all the not so fun pregnancy symptoms. They are not fun, but I may have panicked a little when mine went away. 🤷‍♀️

@mtpbadger I think we will have a big baby, too. My last growth scan was 3 weeks ago, and LO was measuring 4.1lbs then. I think my next growth scan is a week from Friday.
    • How far along/EDD? 18w5d, EDD 3/4/2021
    • How are you feeling this week?  Feeling good.  I've been hesitant to say it because every time I do it comes back but I feel like at 18 weeks my queasiness has finally subsided!!  I still have a little trace of it here and there but it is so mild now that it doesn't bother me that much.  I've also been on watch for baby movements the past few days.  I may have felt a few very faint little flutters but hard to confirm.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions?  Glider arrived last Friday!  I love it.  However it did lead to a few heated conversations with my DH about furniture placement in our tiny nursery.  We still have to play around with some stuff but we may have reached a compromise.  Also I started getting a better vision for a Zoom shower last week and am excited to work on that.  I love paper products so I plan to use a cute mailed invitation with included printed games to try to make my virtual shower feel more festive.  Technically my sister will be hosting but since I'm the one who is bored and in need of a project I'm happy to play with some paper goods for a bit.  Question: what are your thoughts on favors for virtual showers?  Necessary or no?  I'm leaning toward no, I personally wouldn't expect one if I attended a virtual shower, but just trying to make as few etiquette missteps as possible.
    • Any upcoming appointments?  Had my in person OB appointment yesterday.  I got to hear little boy's strong heartbeat and see him on the ultrasound machine for a bit.  He was snuggled up in a ball on his belly.  The picture quality of the ultrasound machines in OB offices is rough though!  I'm looking forward to the 20 week ultrasound on Monday, Oct 19 next. :)
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? Cucumber!
  • @vetgirl2011 our little ones seems to be similar! Mine was measuring right around 4.2lbs last US three weeks ago. How come your OB doesn’t want you going past 39 weeks? It seems like our symptoms are a mirror image, which makes me feel reassured I’m not the only one dealing with all this! I can’t belive we are almost in the home stretch!

@lauralew hopefully they nausea is on its way out finally! Hmm, I would say favors aren’t a necessity for a virtual shower but would be thoughtful/nice touch if you can figure out something pretty easy.

@FuzzyDust I hear you on the getting outsid, some days it’s just SO tough to break away from work but it makes a world of difference if I’m able too. Good luck at your appt on Thursday!!
  • @mtpbadger I have gestational diabetes, so they recommend inducing by 39 weeks. I think they said it reduces risk of still birth. It also keeps the baby from getting too big to deliver vaginally.
    • How far along/EDD? 17 weeks exactly on 10/7, EDD 3/17/21
    • How are you feeling this week? Not too shabby! Mornings are still rough, but I am getting some relief mid-day. Although I swear if it's not the nausea, it's the constipation. I can't get a break on either end!
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? If anyone has suggestions for the constipation, I will take it!
    • Any upcoming appointments? October 26, anatomy scan.
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? a pear! So cute.
Well, the word is out at work now! We had a socially distanced/masked meeting for a few staff at a park today, I thought I wasn't looking too preggers today but I got an immediate reaction when I arrived so I guess I look a little bigger than I thought. It still feels weird because we haven't announced too publicly yet. I've been waiting on my boyfriend and he's been hesitating a bit because he doesn't want to have to deal with his family yet about it...they're a little bonkers so I can't blame him for not wanting to deal. Plus I had a friend who miscarried at 14 weeks a little bit ago. I'm still really terrified about things.

@vetgirl2011 My sister seems to have backed off a bit on harping about the baby's room. But I think it's a good suggestion to give her something to do, like maybe starting my registry or something. I know she's really excited for me, so I don't want her to feel bad. Now that the nausea is subsiding at least a little bit, I can at least think more than a moment ahead. My OB has indicated that they will likely want to induce me a week early, mostly because I am AMA. We'll see how it goes, probs depends on if I develop pre-e or anything like that but so far I'm in the clear with things. I have heard that exercise/walking can help with breech -- I have zero experience with that personally, just friends who have dealt with it.

@laurelew how are you doing a virtual baby shower? I feel like we should do something, but I do feel sad that I can't see my relatives in person. I'm also really not big on games. I blame no one who has games at their showers, but I am firmly anti-game for myself.

Also, my adorable niece keeps naming the baby (which she still thinks is her sister) something different every week. This week is Mia. Before this it was Rosa, before that was Laura. I love her! Too funny.

  • @lucyb1954 I am also anti-game!  My worst nightmare scenario at work is any time they try to get us to play games as a fun breakout activity during staff meetings and such -- and it happens all the time.  Ironically I ended up coming up with a virtual baby shower plan based 100% around games, but done in a way that I think could be more enjoyable (IMO) than the usual baby shower games.  The key was to convince my DH to participate with me.  He fought me on it at first but I told him I really needed his support for solidarity.  It's also giving me an excuse to make the entire shower coed, although I think you could still keep it as ladies only plus your boyfriend, if you prefer that setup.

I am going to have my sister and my two best girlfriends help emcee the games.  Here is how I am envisioning it: start off by going around and asking everyone to introduce themselves, how they know DH and I, and some quick advice or well wishes.  Then we have 3-4 games.  I am including printouts of the games in the invitations but that isn't really necessary except for the bonus game: baby belly or beer belly.  :D The other games are "How well do you know mom-to-be," "How well do you know dad-to-be," and "Who said it: mom or dad?"  For the "How well do you know" games the emcee for that game will ask the question, the opposite partner will verbally answer, and then the correct parent-to-be will reveal the correct answer, which they have written on paper prior to the game.  If guests want to play, they can add their guesses to the chat box of Zoom as the game is being played.  A good emcee will be able to narrate some of the answers as we're waiting for the correct answer to be revealed.  I think my girlfriends should be up to the task, especially the one.

For the "Who said it game" the game card itself has a set of lips or a mustache that you're supposed to circle with your answer.  I have purchased lip and mustache cutouts on Etsy that I will include in the invites so after the emcee asks the question, guests will show their answer by raising a lip or a mustache.  Then my DH and I will reveal our answers by raising our own lip or mustache cutout.  Hilarity will ensue if we both raise a different cutout (for example I have no idea what DH will answer for "I will be the favorite parent."  I'm going to say him but he might say me).  I figure the entire thing should be over in about an hour or so.  I don't plan on opening gifts on the Zoom call.  Instead I may have someone take pictures of me opening the gifts on my own time, and then I'll printout and include those pictures in my thank you cards... if I still have the energy at that point.  If not, traditional thank you cards are great too.  For the games, I ordered a suite of print at home games off of Etsy for like $8 for the digital download. Super easy.  If you're not a paper fanatic like I am, I love Paperless Post for digital invitation coordination.  However if you're planning to send out written thank you cards, you may want to think of a way to secure addresses from everyone in advance.

Also I love that your niece keeps coming up with new name suggestions for the baby each week.  We had asked my 5 year old nephew for a name suggestion a few weeks back and he came up with Pizza Butt Moonface.  :p
    • How far along/EDD? 13+3, due 4/3
    • How are you feeling this week? Physically and emotionally so much better. I haven't thrown up in about a week! We had our NT scan last week and found out we're having a girl! I was actually hoping it was a girl since we have an 18 month old boy but the news hit me weird. I am obviously over the moon excited but it is going to take some getting used to.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Nothing really this week.
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB appointment this afternoon actually. I'll also do my NIPT blood draw at this appointment as well!
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? She's a peach  <3

    • How are you feeling this week? Great! Tired some days and having hip and leg pain when sleeping some nights but overall good. Also started to show this past week and I’m just so excited to have a bump! Definitely feeling more pregnant when I workout but I have the best coaches in the world to make sure I’m modifying and going at a good pace.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Raves: I’ve been feeling our little guy move quite a bit and it’s the coolest thing! I can’t wait to feel him even more! ❤️
    • Any upcoming appointments? 10/16 for my anatomy scan. Cannot believe I’m almost halfway there!
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? Depending on what app you look at, he’s the size of a cucumber or sweet potato. So cute! 😍
  • @mtpbadger & @vetgirl2011 you are in the home stretch! So close to meeting your little ones!

@FuzzyDust the early pregnancy symptoms can be tough! Hoping they ease up as you get further along!

@laurelew yay for feeling better! Praying that you continue to!
    • How far along/EDD? 6+1, 6/2
    • How are you feeling this week? The bloat has been strong this week. Ugh. I wish I had done a "bump" shot last week because I'm definitely sticking out a bit and would have liked the flatter stomach pic lol. Otherwise doing fabulous!
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? This has been a weird week! Like it's gone by slow but also fast. Maybe that's pregnancy brain and I can't keep track of what day of the week it is. Felt this way last week too.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Anxiously awaiting my first US next week Monday! The my initial intake appointment with the nurse on the 22nd
    • GTKY: What fruit, vegetable or object is baby the size of this week? A sweet pea. In the daily fact, TB also said it's as tall as a match head but those are smaller than a sweet pea so wtf? Is the idea that it grows to the size of a sweet pea during this week??

  • @Kimbrlyg814 Love your bump pic!  So cute. :)  I'm jealous you are feeling those movements already.  I am still waiting to feel mine!  I have also been getting that leg and hip pain sleeping on my side.  I wake up every 1.5-2 hours like clockwork and need to rotate to the other side. :(

@inthewoods23 I've noticed the same thing with the varying sizes on all of the different pregnancy apps.  Just today I got my 19w e-mail from The Babylist and as I was reading my baby size on there (magic 8 ball this week), I wondered if it was saying that's how much the baby weighs?  Whereas I think What to Expect goes off of length from what I can understand.
  • @FuzzyDust I hope your first ultrasound was wonderful today!!
  • thanks, @vetgirl2011, it went great!!! Saw a little beating heart at 120 bpm ❤️❤️❤️ So grateful and relieved. I assumed that they will graduate me right away, but apparently I go back one more time 1-3 weeks from now 😄

  • @inthewoods23 maybe different kind of match stick???  I feel like there are some that have a longer match head part, with a couple different layers?  ...but I can't seem to find a pic and now I wonder if I'm just making that up!??? 🤣😬
  • Alright ladies, I need some help and I’m hoping that maybe I’m not alone. Tailbone pain?! HOLY MOLY!!! Started last night... could not get comfortable with a pregnancy pillow, wedge pillow, sitting up or elevated. All day today even after doing a bath, warm shower, cat/cow poses, standing and walking around, no relief. Please tell me this will go away or there is something that can help. I’m already going to a chiropractor 2x a month and acupuncture 2x a month. This pain is crazy!
  • @Kimbrlyg814 did you do anything out of the ordinary yesterday? Like sit for longer or were more active than usual? Hopefully it was just a one-off thing from doing something out of normal and it will go away! That sounds painful!
  • @Kimbrlyg814 I had that too, it's so painful!  I would bring it up with the chiro and maybe book yourself in sooner, if need be, so they can address that specifically.
  • @mtpbadger and @BusinessWife thank you! Pain went away after a day. I also bought a doughnut pillow and birthing ball to use each day to avoid that from happening or at least to relieve the pain. I go back to the chiro tomorrow and will definitely be letting him know to see if there’s anything he can help to prevent it from happening or from it being so severely painful.
