I am currently 38w, my induction was supposed to be next week but I am only 1cm 10% effaced. My dr moved induction to the following week (I will be 40wks then) he wants to use cervidil. I’ve been reading terrible stories about it. Pain and a lot of people end in csection.
Can you share your experience with the use of cervidil?

Thank you
I was Induced at 39+6 and started with cervidil. I wasn’t dilated and my cervix was long. It hurt to be inserted but my cervical checks always hurt. It was in for 12 hours and got me to 1.5 cm 80% effaced. I did 5 doses of misoprostol after (each 4 hours apart) that got me to 4 cm 100% effaced. Then I got pitocin and an epidural and was at 10 cm 3 hours later. So the process was from Saturday 12:30 am-5:30 pm Sunday when I started pushing. I pushed for 5 hours and needed a forceps delivery but that had more to do with my pelvis/baby’s position/an infection than the induction. The cervidil wasn’t a problem for me at all out of everything. Kind of depends on how your body reacts though and what your provider decides. I didn’t really start feeling pain until the miso when my contractions got close together. I also had midwives but 2 OBs ended up delivering him.
Can you ask for a membrane sweep to get things started? Before induction that is. I had one and lost mucus plug after. My induction is this weekend but last cervical check with the membrane sweep I was 1cm and 60% effaced. Will do cervidil too
