Back story: we are gutting our master bathroom and putting it back together mostly ourselves (getting a little help on the plumbing since we haven't moved/added plumbing before).
We started Phase 2 demo over the weekend and I'm so excited! Well, DH started demo. It's my favorite part of a project and I usually do most of the demo myself but I was either in bed or on the couch most of the weekend I'm hoping demo will be done in the next 2 weeks (I'd like sooner but we can only work on weekends and I'm not much help right now). We're also going to be making some changes in our bedroom and adding a walk in closet instead of the small reach in that's in there now.
@gusgus14 I'm jealous! We had it on the horizon to update our master but our A/C pooped out and we had to spend a small fortune to get a new one. Boooooo. I'm sorry you missed the demo. I'll call you when we're ready to do ours and you can help, ha!
I'm at the office today because we're onboarding a new employee. They are ordering lunch and I'm having an ahi tuna salad, so clearly that's the highlight of my day!
@texas_t aw man that's a bummer about your A/C! Further backstory to our bathroom is that it's been unusable for the last 3 years so it's been a long time coming! We had hoped to do it last year but then we found major water damage and mold downstairs and had to rip out our entire kitchen down to the studs so that was a huge expense we weren't expecting! The only reason we can really do it now is because the person doing our plumbing is family and isn't charging us labor.
Working from home with 4 year old in tow. Usually we move outside for the mornings but the smoke has made that impossible. She starts ballet today so looking forward to an hour break during then!
I spent the entire weekend in bed 🛌 because I was so forking nauseous. I'm hoping it subsided but I don't think it will since I was sick my entire first pregnancy.
@gusgus14 I wish I could reno. We live in a tiny house (340 sq ft) and I'm not happy with some stuff but the layout is basically set in stone.
DS#1 started in person pre-school today. I sobbed a lot after drop off, which probably would have happened even if I wasn't pregnant. He's going to be so happy, and they are taking a ton of precautions, but new beginnings are always hard, and he did not want me to leave.
In other news my car battery gave up on life this morning, of course it would pick a Monday. I bought the car used, but we think it's the original which means that it's 9 years old, so we're lucky that it lasted as long as it did.
@gusgus14 Good luck with the reno! I'm jealous you can do it yourself. We're supposed to be doing some updates to our kitchen, but the contractor we picked ghosted us after coming out for the initial assessment, and telling us he would get us a quote soon. So we're trying to determine next steps.
@babyyodaonboard Working with a 4 yo is super human. I hope that she loves ballet, enjoy the break!
@gusgus14 Love hearing about renos! What all are you doing to it?
We're getting our house ready for market slowly but surely. I'm doing a couple of minor updates. Had planned to do the bathroom floor but first tri symptoms declared that a no go. DS had his first day in the 2s room today. @mrosek91 I also cried a bit and he's been in school. It's just so sad how quickly they grow!
@babyyodaonboard oh my gosh I can't imagine trying to WFH with a 4 year old! @mrosek91 I hope he has a good today today! Sorry about your car battery. @SkilledSailor we're tearing it mostly down to the studs! Planning on moving some plumbing around (shifting the vanity, moving the toilet) and adding some plumbing (a second sink and a freestanding tub) and then building everything back up. We're getting help with the plumbing but doing everything else ourselves (drywall, building/waterproofing the shower, floor and shower tile, building our vanity cabinet, adding/installing new lighting). I had planned on doing a lot but with the way I've felt lately I'm just not sure how much I'll be up for doing and I don't want to put the project on hold until I feel better.
Wow! You guys made me feel better. @gusgus14 I thought we were the only procrastinators. We demolished our master bath a couple of years ago and just started really working on it during Covid. So that is happening in the evenings. Luckily we already have most of the stuff, we just need to get to work! @texas_t I feel your pain, when our AC went out, it took all of our savings. And the next year, our septic field needed repair. We are still trying to catch up.
Usually my girls have soccer practice, but it’s a no-go with all the smoke. They both started ‘real’ school today where they actually had to log on and participate in lessons. This school year is going to be rough for everyone involved.
I am cleaning out camping supplies to store, because I don’t think we will be camping with a newborn next year.
DH is extremely frugal, to the point were we only eat out (or get take-out) half a dozen (maybe a dozen) times a year. And usually when we do it's for a special occasion, and/or I have to talk him into it. But we've both been having a rough week (weeks? months?) and he volunteered to get chinese take out for dinner tonight! I'm so excited.
@babyyodaonboard I feel you. I am working from home with a three year old. Though I will admit--DH takes on a LOT more during the workday then I do, so I can actually get some stuff done compared to his... basically nothing
@gusgus14 a bathroom reno is so exciting! I'm very impressed you guys are doing so much work yourselves. My DH has done some small projects with the assistance of my dad (a swing set this summer, deck banisters last summer) and he's basically sworn off any future DIY projects. It's just not his thing. We're hoping to have our basement finished over the winter so we can move his home office downstairs. The bedroom he's using now will be turned into a nursery!
@mrosek91 how was your son's first day? I always get sentimental at milestones and would definitely be feeling emotional about the first day of school. That was sweet of your husband to order takeout.
Our days feel a lot like Groundhog's Day. We have started a weekly playdate with one of my good friends and her daughter and we got together today which was really nice. My husband is going to take some boxes up to the attic and when he's there I think I'm going to have him bring down my maternity clothes. I don't need them yet, but they're so comfy I want to start wearing them asap lol.
@caitb13 just finished day two, and he's really happy there, some of his friends from last year are in his class again, so I think that's helping. of course being happy yesterday didn't stop him from putting up a stink this morning, but we were expecting it, he usually takes him about a week before he stops protesting something new. I'm kind of jealous you're already getting the maternity box out, I lent mine to my sister, and we're pretty strict with the 12-week rule, so I have to wait to tell her and get it back. Even once I tell her I'm not sure what I'm going to do, cuz she's not due until February. We each have a box that technically could be a full wardrobe, but since this is the first time we're pregnant at the same time usually we share all the clothes. (It's my 4th and her 3rd, so we've been growing these wardrobes slowly but steadily.)
@caitb13@mrosek91 Also been thinking about the maternity clothes already. Not that I don't love the hairband trick, it's just not very professional when my fly comes undone because of it. Similar to @mrosek91 though, mine is being stored at MILs house right now and we're not telling her yet. Even more frustrating is we legit just took it there a few weeks ago to declutter for listing our house.
@mrosek91 How nice to have such a large maternity wardrobe! Anything that better suits for 2ndt tri vs 3rd? Maybe y'all could rotate that way?
@mrosek91 that's awesome that you guys can share clothes! When I was pregnant with DS, my sister was pregnant at the same. This time I'm hoping to get some of her clothes 😂
Today I had a long day at work then had a couple of my girlfriends over for dinner. I tried to hide that I wasn't drinking but didn't go well so I just ended up telling them. They are two of my closest friends so I know they won't say anything and would be supportive if something happened so I'm ok with it. I was itching to tell someone 🤣
Lucky with the maternity clothes! My sister and friends and I had a bunch that we passed around. But I was the last to have a baby, everyone said they were done, and I thought I was done... so I literally have nothing left. I donated everything. 🤦🏻♀️
I cannot wait to break out my maternity clothes! I might start with the pants soon just because they're so dang comfy but I'm not telling work people until 2nd tri so I'll hold off on the tops until after Halloween.
We'll probably go through the boxes together, and figure out based on size, style, and original owner. She's only an hour away, so it won't be hard to swap as needed. With my first I was pregnant mostly in the winter, and her first she was pregnant mostly in the summer, so the original break-down was along those lines, but over the pregnancies we've both added to it.
@SkilledSailor I think a maternity clothes thread is a great idea. My last BMB we had a product spotlight every Monday, that went through the different things that were needed for pregnancy, and babies. The STM+ would list what worked for them, and what didn't, and STM+ and FTMs could ask questions, it was very helpful.
@mrosek91 I think my last BMB did the spotlights as well. I found them really helpful! Even as a STM this time around I'll probably refer to them a lot because I can't remember everything from 3 years ago.
I borrowed the schedule from my last BMB, and updated the dates to match our pregnancy, here's a link to the proposed product spotlight schedule. I welcome all feedback.
@SkilledSailor I can't take any credit, the woman who ran it in my last BMB was super organized, and had amazing prompts, I asked her permission to lift it wholesale, rather than recreating the wheel.
@mrosek91 line 26 needs to be updated. Season will be different for may babies. Otherwise I love it! It takes me forever to come up with ideas and topics and I love the organization!

Y’all, I’m just going to say it. If men had to deal with morning sickness, there’d be a better treatment for it. Or a universal leave of absence while you deal with it. It blows my mind that women who work in offices can hide they’re pregnant til 12 weeks.
Just some morning thoughts as I try to keep these crackers down.
@SkilledSailor for sure, I've heard it said often that if men were responsible for being pregnant and giving birth, humand wouldn't have survived more than a generation or two. It's amazing what we put up with. I'm sorry you're struggling. I hope it gets better soon.
Anyone else have a word or phrase their child misues? My 2yo is convinced that the phrase "you scared me" means "you made me cry" at first he was only using it when we yelled at him for doing something he shouldn't, so we thought the yelling scared him, but he's expanded to using it every time we say something he doesn't like. This morning I told him that he had to wait for his treat, because even though he got dressed so nicely the deal was the treat was for the car ride to school, and he wasn't in the car yet, and it was too early to leave. Cue waterworks so great they left a giant wet stain on my shirt, and repeated utterance of "you scared me"
@skilled sailor. My morning sickness started later last time, but lasted until the day I delivered. I’m dreading it when I go back in the office. I’m not at all looking forward to telling my clients I’m pregnant.

TW...death/tragic accident mentioned . . . . . .edited to add in a spoiler comment. I thought I did this the first time! . .
My October 2018 BMB became quite close and we found out last night that one of the moms lost her husband yesterday in a horrific motorcycle accident. She has 3 young boys and I am absolutely heartbroken for her. I can't imagine what she is going through 😢 I can't stop thinking about her and my pregnancy hormones are not helping!
@spartan4life Oh my goodness, a friend in my j15 bump group posted about this because his wife is in her marriage group from the knot. So so terribly sad.
I've eaten 100% carbs today. Also, coffee flows through my veins, but pregnancy me can't stomach it, and I think we're there. Finding alternative ways to caff up.
