1st Trimester

Placenta Tear

Hi all. I’m currently 12 weeks 1 Day and I had my appointment yesterday with an ultrasound. They found a tiny tear in my placenta(16 mm) and I’ve been put on bed rest and I’m being rechecked in 1 week to make sure it’s healing. The doctor described it as a cut like I would get on my finger, but it’s in my placenta. She said they heal themselves and heal faster the more I baby it. I’ve been doing my best in bed rest but I can’t get comfortable so I’ve been tossing and turning, and I’ve had to go up and down the stairs twice now. The dr told me I could move around the house but not to go walk around Target. So I’m assuming a little walking on the stairs is okay.
Im under the impression this isn’t a really bad situation but I’m still really worried. This is pregnancy #1. Has anyone else gone through this and it turned out okay?

Going up and down the stairs a couple of times and tossing and turning in bed is NOT like going to Target and going for long walks. Get around the house, as needed and rest as much as you can.  He just doesn't want you to be over active.  If he didn't seem concerned, just continue doing what you are and see what happens at your next appointment.  Thry will reevaluate it and express any concerns that you have with them, at that appointment.
