High-Risk Pregnancy

Pregnancy shortly after RAIU?

I did a radioactive iodine uptake test on July 15. I had a BFP this morning, August 7, the only day I could have conceived being July 24. I was given precautions with previous RAI therapy to avoid pregnancy for 6-12 months, but this time it was only 4mCi I-131 for diagnostic uptake purposes, with no therapeutic dose. Pregnancy was obviously not planned, and right now I'm operating under the assumption that I have to terminate. However, all the information I'm finding on google relates only to therapeutic doses of RAI, and I'm wondering if termination subsequent to such a small dose is still recommended?

  • this is above the bump's pay grade. Ask a MFM or your Radiology doc.
