I walked/jogged 4 mi. a day around my neighborhood 3-4 times a week to lose the baby weight and help my chances of conceiving. I lost 50 lbs between pregnancies doing that with eating healthier! Since pregnancy I've been walking/jogging 3 miles, except for while my back has been in pain. I take my dog and my daughter. My dog helps me keep a good pace and she's my accountability because she expects to be walked. I go as early in the day as I can, usually I get ready and my daughter and I eat breakfast before we go, or I give her a snack in the stroller (she's 1.5). I chose 4 miles because that's 10,000 steps according to my Fitbit. Each lap around my neighborhood is conveniently 1 mile. Sometimes I mix it up by going to a park or a garden to walk, and sometimes I use errands as my activity for the day; I try not to hold myself too strictly to my exercise routine so that it stays fun.
@mdfarmchick I really want a peloton! I was in HHI last week and rode a bike multiple times a day and felt great but we had a bike trailer so I could lug the kiddos with their snacks. I might buy a bike trailer instead but it would be nice to not have to worry about the weather!
I’ve been struggling to exercise at all this pregnancy but I know it will help keep my weight gain more manageable so I NEED to get back into it. Unfortunately two weeks ago I think I made myself bleed from a very light YouTube workout and my husband was super concerned so im thinking I need to stick to walking and cycling. Cycling would be GREAT so I need to decide bike trailer or stationary?
I am still going to spin classes and pure barre (I'm lucky to have my studios open with lots of social distancing measures in place). I've been working a lot the last couple of weeks so it has been hard to make it to class, so I've try to take a break around dinner time and go for a walk or walk and take calls.
@mdfarmchick I've been thinking a lot about Peleton, everyone I know that has one loves it...trying to decide when will be the right time to take the plunge
I've never had motivation during first trimester and this time was no different. Now that I'm starting to feel better I need to figure out what to do. It will likely be yoga, walking, and biking. I'm giving up running until next year because I think it will be too much of a struggle to build back endurance just to take another break and start over again.
My favorite yoga studio had to give up their building space as a result of covid shutdowns so it's only on Zoom and not great times. I have an app I'll try to start using.
@birdiejo we love our bike trailer for the kids and ours can convert to a stroller/jogger so we can bike somewhere and keep using it to walk around. We bought it instead of a double stroller
@jumpy57 which one do you have? I’m struggling to decide which one to get.
The Yoga Collective they have a lot of variety! I got started with a Groupon offer so check there Ava I think there's a 7 day free trial. $30 a year I think which is way less than what I spend on in person classes
This has been a huge struggle for me! I have a somewhat physically active job that involves walking a lot (easily get my 10,000 steps a day!). I would love any ideas you guys have, but I am an awful biker! Stationary or otherwise!
@scottijo2012 haha well if you are doing it just for exercise then I don't think being bad au biking matters as long as you get your heart rate up 😂 sounds like you have a lot of good movement during the day, if you want something different you could try squats/lunges/other strength work. I have something like these that are really awesome because you can customize difficulty and they give you movements to do

10,000 steps a day sounds like a very active job! Maybe join an indoor swim class, it will help take the pressure off your joints and would feel so good later in pregnancy. Or yoga to stretch and strengthen your muscles. Are you going to be walking so much for work throughout your pregnancy? I can't imagine myself in your place, with it being a daily aspect of work, and not asking to transfer.
I usually exercise a lot, so it’s been a difficult adjustment that I have had to reduce my exercise a ton bc I’m just too nauseous and tired to do much. I’ve kept up walking 20-30 minutes at least once a day plus vinyasa yoga once a week even while I was feeling really bad. Now that I’m starting to feel a bit better I’ve been able to increase my walking to 30 minutes 2-3 times a day (I’ve been lucky to be in a weird work situation where I can fit this in during my workday!), weights (although way lighter than pre pregnancy) once a week, and yoga once a week. Still haven’t been able to run since I was 5 weeks (HR gets too high), but I’m hoping as I feel better I’ll get back to running at least a little as it is really important for keeping my heart palpitations under control.
I also feel better able to accept where my body is at and have replaced a lot of my weight work with stabilization exercises and pelvic floor work. I finally am able to accept that currently I’m training my body to carry a pregnancy and birth a baby, and I need to adjust my exercise just as I would if I was training for something else!
@jumpy57@s_montgomery I will definently try those! My job is busy right now because of summer. As fall sets in, it will be more sedentary thankfully! Believe it or not I work at a gym and waterpark and am not good at exercise 😂🤣
@manditchka24 that has to be a hard adjustment going from very active to limited! But you are so right! Your body is training for something different now and making a human. My husbands favorite joke as been that I am doing 9 months of body building!

@jumpy57 I like Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube if you want to try something different
