    Team Green/Pink/Blue:

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:  bacon. Am  I the only one that finds the food comparisons weird?

Upcoming appointments: 4 weeks.  At my last appointment on Thursday my Dr. told me she is being deployed and won't be back until after the babies born 😭 I am so sad!

How are you feeling: okay as long as it's not too hot and the humidity stays low.  I've really cut back on the manual labor I do,  which has helped.

Rants/Raves:  I really want to go away for a few days,  but because of covid we are limited to like 1/2 of our state that has low numbers. I found a place on a lake to stay,  but now we are having a hard time getting a farm sitter to commit.  If we don't find someone by Tuesday I'll have to cancel our stay.

    Questions:nope

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? All new socks for everyone in the house and throw the sock basket away!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:  apple!

Upcoming appointments: Fluids tomorrow, and a regular OB on Wednesday.

How are you feeling:  Actually - pretty good! I was able to eat a whole meal once yesterday, and once today, so I am calling that a win.

Rants/Raves: Rant (TW/ covid/ death) My Godmother's son just passed away in Florida from Covid. I wish people would take this seriously. He was in his early 40's and no pre-exisiting conditions.
Rave - I went and bought a bunch of smaller maternity clothes today. While it was hard emotionally to admit I needed them, it's really nice to have some clothes that fit and make me look pregnant instead of fluffy.

Questions:  Has anyone bought a shirt from HM MAMA? I bought a couple today and they are the nursing / maternity with the multiple layers and I can NOT figure out how to get in them. I'm all tangled up and somehow it ended up inside out... #iquit These might be going back.

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? A surrogate. We wanted three but I am never EVER doing this again.

  • @babymakes9 all INTERCHANGEABLE socks. My husband buys different weight versions of the same socks - omg it drives me crazy. "No no! Those are WINTER weight wool, don't put them with the SUMMER merino!" Dude. Black sock, black sock. Why do you hate me?

@babymakes9 I’m sorry to hear you will have to switch doctors, that stinks. I hope you like the replacement!

@the_road_to_oz I love H&M maternity and MAMA! Mainly bc it is cheap and pretty nice. It is all I wore with DD. I’m sorry to hear you’re not a fan.

Team Green/Pink/Blue: Find out in two weeks.  Although my dad is a strong supporter of a girl...mostly because he is scared a boy will climb out the window of our house.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:
    A postcard

    Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan 8/5

How are you feeling:. Heartburn is still here and tired.  Anxious about the a/s and hoping for good results.

Rants/Raves: My parents came to town and I am so enjoying it.  We painted wooden boards today, some as just house decorations and some for the nursery.  It has been hard for us to be apart during this time (especially when I wasn't feeling well) and it will be hard once they leave.  Not knowing when we will see them again is nerve-wracking with my mom as a teacher and my dad as a healthcare worker.  But soak up all the love now to last for a while.

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy?  I originally wasn't sure, but then @jchpg inspired me.  I would want a personal chef but more so they could teach me.  I love cooking and enjoy learning new things.  Also if they did dishes, bonus!!

@babymakes9. Hopefully you can find someone and still go away.  We are in a similar boat with our ten year anniversary very soon.  When we got married, we said we would go to Italy for our ten year.  Well now I will settle for a B&B less than an hour away.  Just something a little different and again no dishes!

@the_road_to_oz Look at you rock star with eating two whole meals!!!!  I am so excited for that and hope it continues! My mom sent me some clothes from H&M, but I don't remember anything too complicated.  I don't think they were nursing tops though and I end up with an undershirt under them.  Just a little too much cleavage for my taste.

@jchpg.  Someday once this virus is done, I will get back to my massage therapist.  I look forward to it!  Good idea though!

@babymakes9 Ugh that stinks about your doctor.  But if you like her - at least you can go back after she returns!

@the_road_to_oz I'm so sorry for your loss.  I wish everyone would take COVID more seriously.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: The apps tell me an endive, but it’s actually a bit big for 21 weeks as per the a/s so in reality, we’re probably more like a Coconut!

    Upcoming appointments: Phone appt 7/29

How are you feeling: Pretty good. I just felt “off” all week, likely because of the heat. But I was tired and not feeling like myself. We’re going camping tonight which hopefully helps me get to normal a bit!

Rants/Raves: All my rants are about politics and COVID right now so I’ll spare you 😬

Questions: Has anyone been able to hear this baby or previous babies with a stethoscope and, if so, when? I’ve been trying so hard to hear it with mine but just can’t get it yet.

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy?
I actually hate items (chalk it up to 10 years in an NYC apartment) so I’d probably spend it all on travel. But I’d really spend it on buying a couple houses - one here to live in and one vacation home somewhere cool. I wouldn’t call those frivolous, though...

Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on 7/31!

How are you feeling: tired! I usually love the heat, but pregnant me just can't tolerate it.  I've generally been in a great mood the past couple of weeks, but the pregnancy hormones are shifting back towards crabby right now 🤷‍♀️

    Rants/Raves:
rant- DD boycotted her PM nap both weekend days - I was really counting on a nap myself at those times.  I think she might be starting a sleep regression  :s

rave - I got new bras from Target and they are SO comfortable! (the True & Co wireless ones, if anyone else is in the market)

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? The services of a personal stylist and an interior decorator - I can try to replicate things I see in magazines and Pinterest, but I just don't have the eye myself....and a vacation house directly on the water!

    Upcoming appointments:
Just had one today, next monthly is Aug 24, then I start going every 2 weeks!

    How are you feeling:
Good overall. Feeling my hip joints starting to loosen. Still heart palpitating. I brought it up again to my OB today and she recommended I contact my GP to get checked out since they seem to be pretty intense and bothering me so much. I put in a message for an appt so we'll see what happens.

    Rants/Raves:
Rave: I just send the email to the preschool/daycare director that our DD will be going back starting next week! I'm so excited for her! and for us...
    Rant: I hate Covid.

    Questions:
Would you refuse to pee in a cup at your OB appt? Today I overhear some lady refuse to go pee in a cup for her appt, she was super pregnant, and was wearing a face mask and face shield. She said she wanted to minimize her exposure to things so she didn't want to use the restroom to leave a sample....if you're at that point, why show up to any appointment at all?

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy?
A private jet and a vacation house that comes with a personal chef and house cleaner, somewhere tropical so we could jet set outta here without worrying about public transportation and take a nice long vacation away from everything.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A paper airplane

Upcoming appointments: I had MFM virtually today and my OB on Thursday

How are you feeling: Good but I don’t know where the second trimester energy is this time around lol

Rants/Raves: I’m sick of the negativity everywhere and it’s starting to get to me so I’ve been breaking form social media more

    Questions: None right now

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? A 5 bedroom house with a guest house that’s basically a mini house along with a chef and maid (@bearmomma1 totally with you on that!)... I’d also buy a 3 row truck or a decked out minivan 😂😂
ETA - It’s not frivolous but it’s totally worth it lol
    DS born 2016
  • @bearmomma1 That seems crazy to me about the pee too. At least in the bathroom you can wash your hands immediately. I’ve actually made it a point to use the bathroom after my appointments and get a good scrub in before walking out the door!

Also, I’ve had some heart palpitation issues too. I got an EKG which was normal but they said if I kept getting them they’d send me home w a monitor for a week to get a longer reading. Wouldn’t be surprised if that was in your future. Hope they figure it out and all is ok though! They really are super uncomfortable so I feel for ya!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: banana 🍌 / Belgian endive 🥬

Upcoming appointments: 8/4 AS, 1st doula meeting 8/1 (we are doing in person with masks)

How are you feeling: pretty good, had some slight headaches the past 2 days and some insomnia but mostly feeling normal just big - having a harder time getting up from sitting or laying down positions and bending over is starting to become difficult

Rants/Raves: raves! We just got back from vacation and I’m feeling so refreshed! Also our new Elfa closet systems are going in this Friday so I can start reorganizing where things are stored in the house. I’m very excited to get the ball rolling Bc things have been a mess in here for weeks and it’s so annoying to look at it all

Rant! A pharmacy tech at my husbands pharmacy got covid and so did 7 others in her family while all staying at Margaritaville in Orlando 2 weekends ago. One of the sisters who is 50 is hospitalized and on oxygen, and a brother in his 30s had a 104.5 degree fever yesterday. I’m annoyed because my husband does not make everyone wear masks all day while at work - only when patients walk in (it’s a small independent - not like CVS). She could have easily infected him and others during the 5 days before she developed symptoms, and now the risk of other people’s choices who we are around is just hitting so close to home. There’s nothing I can do about it to protect myself.

    Questions:

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy?

totally agree with the vacay home, and i’d want both a beach house AND a place in the PNW,  but I feel like those are great investments, and not frivolous enough!

my frivolity would definitely be in the form of purchasing v fancy art & fashion. I would not hold back on any of it. There are some major pieces of art that I would die to have.
  • @the_road_to_oz I feel you! I’m def not as sick as you are, but the first 15 weeks or so were so awful that I’m 100% firm I will never do this again. I’m not made for this, lol!

Upcoming appointments: Telehealth in 2 weeks

How are you feeling: Good! Started feeling small fluttering last week and yesterday I was feeling so much movement all day, including full on kicks! One of which I felt on the outside with my hand as well! Crazy how strong she is getting in such a short amount of time!

Rants/Raves: Got an email yesterday about an infant spot available at a daycare in our town!! Hallelujah! We have a zoom appointment tomorrow afternoon to tour the school and find out more about their program! But it's a huge relief that we at least have a spot somewhere!!

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? I would hire a live-in chef and housecleaner! Pregnancy has made me lazy!

    Upcoming appointments: tomorrow, anatomy scan!

How are you feeling: I’ve been having a lot of low blood pressure issues, migraines and more. Just very tired.

Rants/Raves: finally finishing up my 1 year olds room and we get to move on the the nursery 😍

    Questions:

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? I would hire someone to come deep clean our house once a week. As well as put my kids in daycare for 1-2 days a week so I can run errands and workout. Annnnd probably fully furnish my home.
  • @shelmcclel - wow, that's both scary and really frustrating! I hope that's enough of a wakeup call for your husband to start doing more to protect himself AND you.  I talked to one of my favorite clients, who works in the middle part of the country.  Even with appropriate distancing and mask-wearing, he and his entire staff AND his family all developed clinical COVID.  A few folks were hospitalized, but thankfully everyone has made it home.  I have so much empathy for anyone in a service industry right now  :(

I am LOVING everyone's responses to the GTKY question - so many fun things to daydream about  :)

    How are you feeling:
Physically, fine but tired. Emotionally, im super stressed and drained.

    Rants/Raves:
Rave: we found the perfect bedding for the nursery! We decided on a dinosaur theme but we wanted colorful and nothing too babyish. The only problem is it's special order and takes about 2 months to get it, so I ordered a swatch of fabric first to make sure we love it in person and that's going to take 2 weeks to get here.

Rant: my mom is driving me crazy about our registry. She thinks everything is too expensive even though it's all normal priced stuff and we're registering for unnecessary things. I swear we have about 1/4 of what all the checklists say we should be asking for. I'm trying not to let it bother me, but a time like this is when I wish I could talk about this stuff with my mom instead of getting a judgy attitude about every decision I make.

    Questions:
    None right now.

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy?
A boat! Oh, and a house on water to use the boat! Also, all the pieces of the crib bedding we love instead of just the blanket because the rest is too expensive! 😂

Rants/Raves: Apparently our tub was leaking into the apartment below us and we didn’t know it, so maintenance came by to recaulk it. He also turned our kitchen hot water back on while he was here.

Questions: None that I can think of!

GTKY: if you won the lottery, what's one totally frivolous thing you would buy? Aside from realistic things (paying off debt and student loans, buying a house, etc), I think we’d probably buy into the Disney Vacation Club, which is their timeshare.
