Okay ladies let’s post some fun stuff! Your wedding dress. Favorite Halloween costume. Show off your wedding ring. Favorite artwork your child made. Tell us what your screen name means. Whatever you want to show off 😀
Right after we got engaged. I spent the rest of the 10 mile hike staring at my ring 😍
My screen name is just a hybrid of my first and last names.
Best trip I’ve ever been on and first time out of the US. DH and I went backpacking in Banff almost a year ago. Most of our vacations are spent hiking— we went hiking for when we got engaged (in VA) and for our honeymoon (in CO and UT). I’m really missing hiking this year.
And we’ll round it out with one of my maternity photos because why not
This was my wedding dress. Our 1st wedding anniversary is in 11 days so I loved going through my wedding photos to find this!
I don’t have a super clear photo from our wedding of my rings so I just took one. My engagement ring is the Rapunzel ring from the Disney collection. Hubby did GREAT. 😍 (You can see her hair wraps around the ring!) The band is just a simple one I liked that matched the tiny diamonds.
We eloped to lake tahoe! But made sure to have an amazing photographer! My dress was entirely lace and my sister made my bracers to keep my arms warmer!
My engagement ring is Native made silver and turquoise all from a local pueblo vendor in NM. The wedding band was made to match with two white sapphires (I'm not a diamond girl).
My screen name is my initials and last name. Super easy. My family keeps joking we should name a boy Captain Jack Sparrow lol.
@mckjacks thank you!! It was the 2nd dress I tried on, and my entire entourage that came dress shopping with me loved it. I cried when I looked in the mirror! Your ring is gorgeous and I love your maternity photo dress!!
@aefsparrow you look adorable!! I bet it was a beautiful elopement!
Fun idea!MH proposed in Disney World, we’re huge Disney fans and some of the decorations for the nursery are Disney-themed! MH had a family relation who worked for Disney at the time so he was able to set up the proposal in a gated rose garden near the castle, so we didn’t have anyone walking in front or behind us. He also arranged to have a Disney photographer to take pics of the whole proposal. This pic was actually taken by his brother who was hiding in the bushes near us.
This was taken on our wedding day but this is the box MH proposed to me with. Beauty and the Beast is our favorite Disney movie, our cat is even named Belle.
I am really petite, I’m under 5 ft tall, so this is actually a tea length dress on normal people that was ankle length on me. I’m pretty clumsy so I didn’t want to accidentally trip over my dress and I didn’t want to worry about having a bustle, so the ankle length was perfect for me!
Sunrise on the morning DH proposed. He took me to the top of the tallest mountain in CO in January! It was so cold and windy and by the time he proposed at the summit we had on ski goggles and full face masks!! No pictures were taken then because it was SO cold DH could barely move his fingers to get the ring out!
He picked the perfect ring!
Our rainy mountain wedding! We will celebrate 4 years this August!
Also I had to share my new bracelet that DH got for me. One of our wedding photographers made it! You can also attach the mountain piece to a necklace! I’m not big on jewelry, but this is perfect for me!
Yikes. Just discovering that I have no idea where my actual wedding photos are. They actually may not exist outside of Facebook (which I don't have right now). We were very young when we got married (and well, very poor), so a friend took photos for us, so they are less than official anyway. Here's a random pic from someone's phone that I found. Married for 7 years on the 6th of this month! We've joked that I will "upgrade" my ring some day for the same reasons, but I don't really see the need.
Wish I could find photos easier, but MH and I were team rocket from pokemon for Halloween one year, and it was my absolute favorite costume.
Username is a play on my name and MHs nickname. When said as a pair, it sounds a bit like carrot and pea and that's what someone thought we were introduced as once.
@mamahosch North Myrtle Beach, SC. We vacationed there while planning our more traditional wedding and saw people getting married and changed our plans. I’m so glad we did, it was much more “us”! I *love* your dress, btw.
@carrotsandpeas3 I am havingthe same realization about our wedding photos! I have a couple on my phone, and I know if nothing else they’re on a USB in a fireproof safe, but I thought I had them on Google Drive. 😬
In 9 days we will be celebrating 5 years of marriage!
Other things I love to show off... I hate dropping rides so I’ve never done the Tower of Terror at Disney. One time I went through the queue with my siblings and husband and the ride operator made me an honorary cast member.
When I was single and had plenty of time to kill I liked to make fancy cakes for my family’s birthdays. VERY amateur, but I had fun with it.
My first step towards my dream job was working as day-of-game staff for our pro baseball team. Eventually my dream came true and I got a full-time position there.
My boyfriend and I are not married so no wedding dress to show. We have been together for 14 years now, and lived together for about 13 of them! I really think the English language should have a word for long term partner because as my dad says boyfriend makes it sound like we aren’t as committed as we are.
My screen name is because I love to rescue things. I absolutely love the sad plant section at Lowe’s, so I can save a plant that hasn’t been well cared for. I have a pretty decent success rate. Then we currently have 4 cats and a dog. Pictures are in order of description.
One cat wasn’t able to be touched at the shelter, and had been there over a year (she is a total sweetheart now). Then the next cat walked into my friend’s house as a kitten on the day we said goodbye to my favorite cat ever.
Our last two are siblings. We had several feral cats that were dropped off on the hill we used to live on. We fed them, and they both had kittens, one cat chose under our house and the other in our crowded garage. We caught 3 out of 4 from the first set, and found them homes. My boyfriend caught 2 out of 4 of the second set, and they were much more scared and had health issues. Long story short we still have them, and they’re now completely healthy. We still hope to find them a home together, but I’m even more selective about what home it is since I’m so attached to them. My boyfriend’s mom has agreed to take them, but she has a 16 year old cat, so can’t yet. We’re hoping by October they’ll be in their forever home, but we’ll see. They are the biggest sweethearts now, and if we didn’t have so many animals I would keep them in a heartbeat. Plus they don’t get along with our original cat, so I can’t do that to her. This photo was when they were still kittens, they’re now huge!
Then there’s our dog that I got in the middle of acquiring the cats. She was dropped off with two other Chihuahuas in the middle of the night in front of the shelter. My friend saw, and took them in for the night. I had been wanting a dog, and decided to rescue her. She is now the most spoiled dog that won’t leave my side.
So that is my very long explanation of my screen name. 😂
aw yay @baseballismyfavoriteseason! That gave me all the feels. I'm going to be an AW here, but I'm going to post some more things because my wedding was important to me in a meaning way but I have a lot of other things I guess I'm more proud of in life at this point. Sorry for all the stickers. I'm slightly paranoid about the internet.
Here is the day MH and I both graduated from medical school. Outside of raising our daughter while both in residency, probably our biggest accomplishment together.
And then best day of my life thus far.
And last August when my daughter turned a year old. Can't wait to take more updated family and kid photos when this new one is born.
I had my heart set on a gray and pink dress, so I had one custom made on Etsy. I loved the back detail!
Our wedding rings were also from Etsy, Bubinga wood and (salvaged) abalone shell from the Channel Islands. Hubby is an ocean person and I'm a forest person, so it kind of symbolizes us. Plus they're pretty
I've previously (a few times) mentioned my love of Miyazaki and especially Spirited Away. My favorite Halloween costume ever was No Face. Very easy to do!
This is my avatar photo, an amapa tree! They're really widespread in the American tropics and have a ton of different names; amapa is their local name in northwest Mexico where I usually go every winter. Sometimes they're in bloom when I'm there, and as you can see they're gorgeous! Huge pink flowers all over.
I love this thread! I can't find a good photo of my wedding dress to show the whole thing off, so here's one from our wedding- probably my favorite picture from the day! We just celebrated our 9 year anniversary and have been together for almost 13. We got married pretty young and I would do so many things differently if I had to do it over again ha.
@animalandplantrescuer are we the same person saving Lowe's half dead discount plants?!? I've never met anyone else that did that, I feel validated in my life choices now 😂
I'm not married so no wedding dress, but I will show off my engagement ring, I'm not a diamond girl and I can't imagine anything more perfect for me, my partner pulled the biggest surprise off by taking me ring shopping with this in his pocket because he was so sure I'd pick the exact ring given the chance, he was right, I found the most similar ring to this that I could 😂
MH proposed to me at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I studied French all through junior high, high school, and college (one of my majors), but didn't have an opportunity to go to France until I was 27, so it was perfect that he did it there. We got married at a museum near my parents' house in Orange County. This is my favorite pic of our wedding. My dress showed the tattoo of Starry Night I have on my back, with my favorite quote "For my part, I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream."
For my 30th birthday, I got the Eiffel Tower tattooed on my forearm.
@amapa20 had a good idea to share our avatar pic! This is from Give Kids the World resort near Disney. Our youngest had a make-a-wish trip and this is where the wish kids stay. By far the most magical place, even tops Disney. This tree snores haha.
@carrotsandpeas3 My ring is even smaller and more simple! Lol. We talked about me upgrading later on but DH almost seemed offended by the idea I don't know if I ever will because I'm kind of attached now! (Almost literally since I can't get it off my finger and might have to get it cut off...)
@MJDsquared@carrotsandpeas3 Mine is small and simple and I love it and don’t ever see changing it. I’m not a big jewelry wearer to begin with so I didn’t want anything huge. The center stone is an old style with tons of inclusions but it’s been in my husband’s family for 5 generations. I haven’t worn it in almost a year because I’m pretty sure the stone is lose and I need to take it in to get it checked and likely fixed. It’s on my nightstand until I actually get that done, so I don’t lose the irreplaceable diamond. 🙈 I am realizing I don’t have a picture with the wedding band but it matches the engagement ring.
My screen name came as a result of going to see the Rat City Roller Girls with my bestie one day. All of the girls have punny names and I decided mine would be Anita Margarita because I do love a good margarita!
My fave 3 Halloween costumes. My little sweetie pie! My wedding dress has a super heavy lace on it and the dress itself is a very light shade of peach but really doesn’t show up in photos. My wedding set is my wedding band, engagement ring and a matching band with my DD and I’s birthstones (ruby and diamond) And my most precious photo! The first time I was allowed to hold my DD after she was born. They took her away immediately after she was born and I didn’t get to hold her until the day after she was born.
No wedding dress or ring since boy person and I are not married. We're not even in a relationship at all. We have a co-parenting arrangement although we do live together and are both free to see other people (neither of us believes in monogamy anyway). Ideally I would like a bit more but he just doesn't feel that way and for right now it works for us. He's going to be a stay-at-home dad.
The boy person and I a little over a year ago.
Me, around age 2, in a pumpkin dress my grandmother made. My mother still has this and Clementine will get it.
Me and my best friend Linda, about 9 years ago. She is my heart and I am her head.
Me, the morning I had weight loss surgery (7/1/10). I was 242 pounds and wore a size 24 or 26. Prior to getting pregnant I had maintained a baseline weight of 125 pound and a size 4 or 6 for more than 8 years.
One of my favorite photos of me ever taken, from a performance arts type situation in 2012.
Me defending my dissertation in 2018. One of the proudest days of my life.
Getting hooded at the graduation ceremony for my doctoral degree, also in 2018. This is the day I officially became a Ph.D.
When Corona isn't happening, my hair usually looks like some variant of this, with a colored steak on each side and a baseline of a magenta red tie color. This is from October I think.
The butterflies are my newest tattoo. I got them in Maybe September? Unfortunately they are surrounding my oldest tattoo, which now looks horrible lol. I have 7 tattoos total.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
So many beautiful dresses, rings and sweet little babies! @kalesix3 that pink ring though 😍. Gorgeous! @kboydbowman your butterflies are lovely!! Very pretty. @baseballismyfavoriteseason love love love your picture with your new baby! Those are the most precious photos!
@anitamargarita_82 I got to hold him for about 4 minutes before they took him to try to get fluid from his airway. I loooooove your dress. And obviously now we MUST go get margaritas together after the babies are born!
@kboydbowman I love the pumpkin dress! Can't wait to see Clementine in it :-)
I love the love for unwanted Lowe's plants, I'm not above buying the full-price ones but the biggest plant we have now (out of 11) is a Dracaena that was on clearance at Lowe's
@anitamargarita_82 thank you, it's a peach sapphire but photos of it really bring out its amethyst tones 😍
@amapa20 my Madagascar dragon tree is one of my favorite plants I've ever had and I found it drowning after a thunderstorm in our community trash dumpster, I doubted my ability to save it, but it wanted to live! Rescuing plants is a form of therapy I think lol! So satisfying!
Everyone's proudest moments, gorgeous rings and beautiful dresses are amazing, this thread was genius!💛🌻
@kboydbowman What was your dissertation? I defended my thesis back in November on how the practice of midwifery changed in London in the 1700’s. I’m hoping to eventually earn my PhD in history, but that won’t happen for a long time.

I don't have a wedding dress or ring to show. But I'll just show some pictures that I like!
We haven't had a wedding or a honeymoon but last year we spent a week in Jamaica just relaxing and enjoying the time off. It was the most similar thing to a honeymoon. We've been together for 8 years and until now all our trips had been low cost.
3 years ago was our first time together flying to the US for a long weekend in Vegas with a friend. Great experience!
And I have not posted before a pic of my bump but it is one of the best things that have happened in my life (will be the best thing on e he's born!). It totally deserves to be here . Pic is from a month ago approx.
These are some of the best photos/memories I have in my phone right now!
Ooh I love all of this! I am also team diamonds are boring, need color! DH picked out the PERFECT Montana sapphire. I love teal. My wedding band has blue diamonds, blue topaz and aquamarine as well.It took my awhile to find a dress I liked. I finally decided that I pretty much get one chance in life to wear a "princess" ball gown so I might as well take advantage of it. I knew I wanted a hint of color and some lace detail. I just love pretty dresses so it was hard to choose!!DH bought me the pink pearl necklace for my birthday a few months before the wedding. I wouldn't really peg myself as a girly girl but you can't tell from the sparkly pinkness of it all! My shoes were probably my favorite thing. The ceremony was at a nature center and was all pretty simple. Our honeymoon was awesome. We took a sleeper car on Amtrak across the country from Boston to Oregon and spent a few days in Portland and a week at a resort in the mountains in Redmond and just explored. DH loves trains so it was a dream trip for him.
My username is actually the name of one of my cats who we call Gin-Gin or Ginny. All the cats have a million nick-names. Gin came from the Villalobos shelter in New Orleans featured in Pitbulls and Parolees, she was with a few others who were shipped up to my local shelter. I fell in love with her fluffy tail and sweet face.
@ginevere that ring, dress, and shoes are all gorgeous 😍😍 I love the color teal. My bedroom as a teenager was teal and my mom promptly painted it when I moved out 😂
My husband and I got married when we were 20 working to put two people through college without student loans so our wedding was very budget. Our officiant literally came from a site called “Can-elope Weddings” 😂 We spent most of our money on a two week trip to Italy, Germany and Croatia.
I don’t even know if I have digitized much wedding pictures, do here is a cute one from Disney instead. We went this year for my son’s 3rd birthday. (Luckily one January before they shut down).
A while back I posted about our golden retriever Mia and how she is our “foster” dog for a goldendoodle breeder. She will be our family dog when all is said and done. She’s my display photo
Well her two pups that she had back in May turned 8 weeks this week, and her breeder wanted us to come out and see them! (They ended up staying with another golden who had pups the same time as Mia because her milk had a hard time coming in with only two puppies). Well one went home a day early, but we got to see one of her pups today before she goes to her forever home on Monday! (You also get a very recent bump photo from me too lol)
