I'll kick things off this morning. Hot weather is the worst. I'd rather have cold and snow than hot and humid.

@gingermama29 half wrong. 🤣 hot is glorious. Hot and humid is nasty. And cold is the absolute worst! Not last winter, but the winter prior, my town had a 160 degree temperature swing in 5 months. In January it was -60, in June it was 100. Temps that cold are just unnecessary!

I don’t like Harry Potter. 🙈 I have tried to read them several times and I just can’t do it.

I don’t mind hot if it’s the weekend and I can wear whatever I want and have my hair up, but running around getting ready to leave and taking buster to doggy day care has me sweating and my hair is a frizzy disaster. So I’m with you today @gingermama29!

@chindimples04 when you say you tried to read them.....did you just try the first one or how far did you make it through the series? My opinion is after the first couple they get significantly better

@bows22 I’ve tried reading the first one only. I just find it boring. I can’t make it past the first couple chapters. And I’ve seen parts of the movies (albeit I KNOW movies are never as good as the book) and I just didn’t care for it. Which is strange, because I usually really like a good sci-fi/fantasy.

@gingermama29 I find somewhere in the 50s-low 70s and sunny to be absolutely ideal. The sun warms you but you have that slightly cool breeze. Feels perfect. Warmer temps but in the shade is good too.

@inthewoods23 yesssssss! I agree with that 100%! If the whole summer was like that, I'd never complain. But anything above 78 is too hot for me.

@gingermama29 DH hates weather like this. Excluding all other factors, he'd move to Iceland in a heartbeat where the temps throughout the year range from the low 30s in the wintertime to 60s on "hot" summer days. I bet he's going to want to move further north in the future when we retire.

I guess maybe my UO is I like both hot and cold weather? I like having a solid stretch of really hot days in the summer and really cold (well, it doesn't get really cold where I live, but around freezing) days in the winter. My ideal weather is probably similar to @inthewoods23, but I wouldn't like to live somewhere where that was the weather every day... I really like having distinct seasons.

@chindimples04 I've read all the HP books multiple times but I agree that they are kinda overhyped. I grew up with them, but I don't think I'd be able to get into them if I came to them for the first time as an adult. The early books especially really are meant for kids! They're also kind of tainted for me because of J.K. Rowling's increasingly obvious transphobia.

I love seasons. Every season has it's place but winter gets old fast (after the holidays if there's already been a good amount of snow). I grew up with seasons and miss them where I live now (for coming up on 9 years).

@chindimples04 when did you try to read HP? They came out in my childhood (right around 4th grade for the first one I think) and I loved them although I'm not obsessed and haven't reread them in adulthood. I got my sister into them whose your age around 10 as well and she devoured them. She was not a big reader before that and is an avid reader still and I credit HP for that and it makes me so happy. She and I love across the country and talk about books all the time and trade when we see each other.

My UO alrhough idk that this will really resonate but it seems like everyone thinks California is amazing, especially the people who live here, and while I enjoy it, I never intended to stay here this long and the attitude of "why would you ever leave" baffles me b/c I have a long list and always have, even when I chose to move here right after college at 22 (and I'm 31 now).

@kvh22 I went to San Diego a few years ago for a work trip and I was like, why would anyone want to LIVE here???  so many people! Coworkers were telling me if they miss their usual departure window for work their commute goes from a half hour to an hour and a half! Also hilarious was everyone complaining about the humidity when it was 80 degrees (this was early August). Midwestern me was like "feels pretty normal to me" haha.

Felt the same driving into downtown Atlanta for the Georgia Aquarium (well worth it! but omg 8-10 lanes for traffic in one direction), and when we were in Phoenix for my cousin's wedding earlier this year - traffic is just crazy. And maybe my issue is just that it seems like everything is in such close quarters.

My UO is that I hate weather extremes but I'll still go camping pretty much any time of year unless there's snow on the ground. Nights getting below 20 degrees? No big deal. Days getting well above 100 degrees? I'll run around naked it's fine. Give me that weather when I'm NOT camping and I'll complain SOOOO much though.

Oh my goodness these UOs are stressing me out  mostly @chindimples04 shade for Harry Potter, hahah. I agree with @bows22 that they really do get significantly better as you go on. The movies are mostly trash, but not the books. I think it also helps to remember that the books were written for children growing up, so the first couple are written in a pretty juvenile style but they get much better from there. 

Also, I love hot weather (90 is A-OK with me!!) and would take it year round if I could (I live in Chicago and we have way too much winter here). But agree AC is necessary especially when trying to sleep at night!!

@priyadoc yeah but 90s in Chicago is usually humid right? Yuck.

I moved from AZ to WI in my teen years and I couldn't understand how I wore pants in the middle of summer growing up. Then I learned about humidity

@gingermama29 I love love love when it’s hot, but DH hates it! We have at least one fight over the A/C every single summer.

@kvh22 I tried at around 9 or 10 years old, again in high school, and again now and I just can’t do it.

@inthewoods23 yeah it's definitely humid. I've lived my whole life in the midwest so it doesn't bother me too much. the humidity isn't great for my hair or skin but I weirdly don't mind it
