Any thoughts about this cycle? Trying not to get excited, but I'm hopeful. With my first I got really forgetful and had weird dreams in the 5-10 Doo range. I know every pregnancy is different, but I keep hoping I'll start forgetting things or having really weird dreams.

Any questions? Any one else with a large age gap between kids? DS and a sibling would be over 6 years apart.

Rant/Rave? I just got stung by a bee! It hurts! I haven't been stung since I was a little kid. I was just digging a ditch in the yard, and it stung me in the middle of my back for no apparent reason. We didn't dig up a nest anything like that, so I have no explanation for why it's suddenly decided to sting me. I didn't even see or hear it! It just happened.

I like diy projects and construction projects. I am the handy one in our relationship. My husband comes to me to fix things for him.

@DoubleUp8 I'm sorry you got stung by a bee!! In the middle of your back no less. You have someone around to make sure the stinger isn't still in there? Hope it feels better soon.

@ashaislurking at first I read WFAF as WTF, likely b/c that's how I would feel in your situation. Happy early birthday to YS!

@DoubleUp8 I have an irrational fear of bees. I'm sorry you got stung. Close age gaps over here (hopefully) but my sister and I are 6 years apart and are very close.

What number are you trying for? #3

    Month/Cycle? 1/1

    WTO/TWW? TWW

Ages of other child(ren)? almost 3 and 13months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Ha I feel crazy like there's no way I could really be pregnant but early period-like cramps were my first and most noticeable sign with both girls so I'm not going to be able to hold out very long to test if this keeps up. I usually only get cramps for a day before AF and have a slightly longer than average LP so this would be veryyyy early. But since I'm BF, it can cause a LP defect. Cramps started yesterday evening, calmed down for a while, but are going strong so far today.

Any questions? If you've had multiple kids, could you tell you were pregnant the 2nd or 3rd time (etc.)?

Rant/Rave? I can't decide if I want daycare to open up for my almost 3yo or not. Saving money would be nice but the 1yo is more expensive anyways (they aren't opening her room so we're saving that $$) and the daycare agreed to part time if they do open. DH and I have so many meetings on Tuesday and Thursday mornings it'd be really good for her to get the socialization and not ignored by us. Where we live numbers are going up but it's not insane or anything.

GTKY: What's something about you that others might find odd/quirky? I'm pretty boring. I have red hair (as do my daughters). I'm logical to a fault and kind of a data junky. I will read books/articles about various things, knowing I disagree with the general premise or don't plan on following that path (anti-vax things, med free birth, BLW - although my second refused purees so we actually did that with her). I get very upset when things don't make sense/people don't act logically.

GTKY: What's something about you that others might find odd/quirky? I don’t drink. My area has a massive drinking culture and it’s very unusual to not drink/not enjoy drinking.

  • @kvh22 I mean, yeah. This cycle is pretty much a WTF cycle all around. Not happy about it. As far as being able to tell if I was pregnant with my subsequent pregnancies after my first, I was able to tell almost right away because of how absolutely SICK I got (I have hyperemesis). I get sick so quickly when my HcG starts to rise it's ridiculous (I usually start getting morning sickness before 6 weeks). Ultimately if you know your body, listen to it.
@chindimples04 Hopefully the teething calms down soon!!!

Rant/Rave? My rainbow just turned 1:)

GTKY: What's something about you that others might find odd/quirky?  I have to sleep with a blanket on. Even if it's 100 degrees.

  • @DoubleUp8 My girls are 5.5 years apart. I actually love the age gap. The girls adore each other and because they are at such different stages I feel like there won't be too much competition between them as they grow. Due to my age though we are hoping our next one comes along a little more quickly...
  • @kvh22 Nope. Every BFP was a happy surprise...but I always test early. Like @ashaislurking I have HG...mine doesn't normally kick in until around 5 to 6 weeks though and I already knew by that point with all my pregnancies.
  • @Panaceia I ALSO have to sleep with a blanket on at all times. When we camp my husband could be curled up next to the cooler with a fan blowing on him and I'll still have a blanket on me. Happy belated birthday to your LO!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Very unlikely. We have been a little spotty with the sex so not feeling confident.

    Any questions?

Rant/Rave? I have been feeling really crampy for days now! I thought it was a sign of O at first but I don’t think O cramping would last this long. I’m sure my body is adjusting now that I’m off BC but I have never had mid cycle cramps like this.

GTKY: What's something about you that others might find odd/quirky? I was in honors band in high school and I played the Tuba!

@DoubleUp8 Oh no!! Sorry to hear about the bee sting. I have actually never been stung by a bee. So weird it happened out of nowhere.

@kvh22 What are your thoughts on BLW? We combo fed my DD and that worked really well for us. I lol at some of the BLW extremist though. They can be over the top.

@Panaceia I’m the exact same with needing a blanket!! I can’t sleep without being covered.

@chindimples04 Ugh, solidarity on the teething front. My daughter is going through the same thing right now.
  • @jenotontx it should be illegal to get 3/4 of your molars at once! Also, my O cramping lasted for days! Like 4 I think, starting just after my fertile window opened!

  • @kvh22 sorry about the cramps fingers crossed they are a good sign!

@chindimples04 ugh. Teething is the worst! Things like that make MH say are you sure you want another?

@Panaceia I'm glad your girls have such a good relationship. I'm hoping if things work out for a second that DS will be a good big brother. He is great with his friends younger siblings.

@jenotontx I hope the cramps let up soon!

@ashaislurking yes, my mom was with me. She checked for a stinger and put a baking soda compress on it. DS has a peanut allergy, so we always have children's Benedryl in the house, and I took a dose for an 11 year old hoping to keep down any swelling. By the time DH got to my parents house last night, it was almost impossible to see and looked very underwhelming for the pain it caused.

  • @jenotontx I also had lower abdominal cramps just from my GI system slowing down around ovulation. I get gassy and a but constipated so I have to take a stool softener to help things not be so uncomfortable.

@ashaislurking I love that you are so open about who you are and your "quirks!" I love that everyone on TB is always so respectful to people who are TTC and not a cis-woman in a heterosexual relationship. I hope your never ending cycle ends soon!
@DoubleUp8 good thing you're not allergic to bees! I had a reaction to a bee sting in college and the dr warned me that that a second sting could be an even worse reaction but I've never been stung again.
@kvh22 my first sign with DS was my tender breasts, I could tell immediately that they were sort of engorged and sore. Nowadays I don't know that they would be as sensitive to it since they were put through the ringer with exclusively pumping.
@chindimples04 DS is getting his 2 year molars and its like the teething that never ends! Ugh!
@Panaceia I also have to sleep with a blanket on. I need the covers to feel safe and protected!
@jenotontx I don't think we had honors programs for music in HS but I did get a varsity letter for choir  :D

Any thoughts about this cycle? I am in the DO ALL THE THINGS mode. Getting some testing done, doing a Whole30, reading It Starts With The Egg, ordered Proov tests, it just feels so odd to be trying so hard for so long and not get KU. My body has done it before so shouldn't it know how this goes?

Any questions? Not at this time

Rant/Rave? A mom from my first BMB was exact cycle buddies with me last cycle (7th cycle trying and same CD/DPO) and she got her BFP and I did not. I am happy for her, we have been internet friends for years now and I have supported her small business multiple times but I still get a little twinge of sadness every time she posts something about being KU. I'm excited for a long holiday weekend and we are visiting my dad's house with my brothers family so hopefully the grandparents and cousins will entertain my kid for a few days.

GTKY: What's something about you that others might find odd/quirky? I can lick my elbow which is apparently supposed to be impossible. I have webbed toes and I'm actually really bummed DS doesn't have them. We were team green so we didn't know the sex and I was more excited about seeing baby's feet than their genitalia.

@jenotontx haha same feelings about the extremists. We combo fee my oldest but she was so interested in our food so early we started purees right at 4 months and basically got off of them at home by 6 months (a little longer at daycare but it was her only purees). My second wasn't interested in our food so I waited for purees until 5 months - made them all in the IP myself and she never ate any of them 😂. I actually really liked just BLW with no purees but I was slightly anemic with both pregnancies so really wanted to focus on high iron foods as early as possible. I think it totally depends on the kid. My youngest was delayed with sitting up too b/c she was focused on other things (my first sat early and my second crawled and walked early but sat late). That was way more info than you wanted, probably, but basically, like many things, the extremists/purists are over the top IMO.

  • @jenotontx The mid cycle cramping can definitely be from hormone adjustment. Hopefully it regulates and isn't as bad next cycle (if there is a next cycle). When I was in band I was an "honorary" member of the tuba section because I was the lonely strings player switching between violin and double bass. I LOVE tuba players!
@DoubleUp8 I'm glad your mom was able to get the sting checked out and feeling better quickly! I swear by baking soda compresses!
@krash_ It's nice to be part of a community where people are generally accepting of the identities of others, even if they don't understand it. When I first joined TB, I intentionally had my pride flag avatar just as a subtle way of letting people know, and as I've been part of this community for a while I've felt more empowered to talk about my identities openly. I also DEFINITELY feel you with the "my body has done this before so shouldn't it know?" feeling!! That is exactly how I feel! Hopefully you get some answers with your testing and you can find something that works for you! Next cycle I'll be switching a couple things up and I've finally gotten DH on board with a multivitamin regemin the last few cycles. Hopefully neither one of us is here too much longer!

@krash_ oh man, props on the pumping! I DESPISE pumping. One silver lining of this shelter in place is that DD2 only went to daycare for just over 2 months and I barely had to pump otherwise. She's 13 months now and I'm still BFing but had no boob feelings while I was BFing my first and got pregnant with her. I continued to BF morning/nights and weekends until 20 weeks and had ZERO pain when DD2 was born and started breastfeeding which was amazing! Daycare isn't opening until at least September for her.

@ashaislurking yes! Thank you for being so open. I'm glad this community has been so welcoming to families of all kinds - that has been my experience in previous BMBs as well.

  • @krash_ I totally get that feeling! It took 4 cycles to conceive our first (the timing of the first 2 cycles sucked because I knew nothing) and that felt like an eternity! Then it took 8 cycles for my second pregnancy...which felt like a second ice age...then 9 cycles for our 3rd pregnancy...which by that time really didn't feel any different...just a continuation of the ice age...and then magically we got our rainbow on our first try!

    ***TW loss****

Our 2nd and 3rd pregnancies were MMCs so TTC between our 2 girls felt never ending:/
  • Question: Anyone with multiple kids have implantation bleeding with one pregnancy, but not other pregnancies? I know every pregnancy is different, but wasn't sure if implantation bleeding was tied to the mothers biology or the pregnancy.

@krash_ & @Kenneylynn3 team green x2 over here, as well! I have red hair but we didn't know DH carried the gene. My first had SO MUCH hair at birth and since we were team green and it was a vaginal delivery, we knew she was a red head before we knew she was a girl :D My second has less hair (still at 13.5mo) than DD1 at birth but it's also red and we were asking about the hair during delivery this time (although it was hard to tell since she had so much less of it).

@DoubleUp8 no implantation bleeding with either pregnancy. From what I've read, it's more hormonal and actually has nothing to do with implantation (since it's just a few cells and "burrowing" is not really an accurate description, it doesn't cause blood). But like @Kenneylynn3 I had bleeding with my second pregnancy around 9 weeks (subchroionic hematoma) but my bleeding was wayyyyy later than implantation.

    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Baby Tracker

  • @kvh22 , @Kenneylynn3 , @Panaceia - Thank you all for your replies. I had very slight implantation bleeding with my first, light pink tinge. It was very light and probably could have missed it if I hadn't checked. I did have some bleeding around 6 weeks with DS. It was very scary. I went in for ultra sounds both times, probably more for my peace of mind than the doctors. I'm sorry for anyone who has experienced that or experienced a loss.

@kvh22 Fun about the red hair! DH and I are both blonds, as are our brothers, and both of our brothers grow red beards. We have always wondered if we carry the genes for a red head.

@DoubleUp8 WRT the red hair, DH did 23&me after we had DD and it actually showed up that he was X% more likely to have a child with red hair so it must test for the M1CR mutation. He is about half Mediterranean and has dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, and olive skin and both of our girls are my mini me with their "Irish" (more "Scottish" actually) features of light and pinker skin with red hair. It's really funny how much they do NOT look like him. My brother is blonde so 100% has the red recessive (neither of my parents are red heads so both have the R recessive and my mom is a brunette - sorry, I love pundit squares). SIL is brunette but when their son was born my brother was asking the delivering doctor if the baby had red hair :D Then my sister walked in later when the doc was there (she's also a red head) and the doctor was like "oh, that's why he was asking."

@mamasloth this is what I found when searching for more info. I know moms on my previous BMB have used it when pregnant to help prepare for labor but I don't recall them using it for TTC. There are some risks of MC in early pregnancy because it stimulates the uterus.

  • @Kenneylynn3 I read that it's supposed to help "tone the uterus" and help regulate the menstrual cycle - I actually bought it to help with my mc, but it's a little too late for that now
@krash_ yikes! I'll lay off the tea until I speak with my dr. Thanks!

@mamasloth I looked this up after you mentioned it but didn't come back to reply, totally forgot! But for RRL, what I found was to ONLY take it during your FP, not after ovulation/during LP. I have TONS left over (I thought I was ordering 1 box and it was 6 boxes so after 2 pregnancies (one of which went late), I still have so much. I'll do a bit more research and check sources before I start taking it but I'm intrigued.

@lee^2 I'm 13.5mo postpartum with my second and got my period back right at 12.5 months without adjusting daytime feeding. We did a few nights of nighttime sleep training where we rubbed her back instead of offering milk which I think helped to jumpstart my cycle. After my first, I way overpumped and had a huuuuuge stash so I cut from 2 to 1 to no pumping between 9 and 10 months postpartum. We still BFed when together morning/evening/weekend and days off/vacations (which there were a good amount of including a 12 day at 10.5 months postpartum) but I got my period at 11 months on the dot (she had been sleeping through not eating since about 8 months). I had enough stash to send to daycare through 14 months and then did one milk and one BM cup from 14-16 months. Some people in previous BMBs said they had to completely wean to get their period back (like got it back 2 months after weaning for two pregnancies despite extended BFing into the second year so 15-18 months or so). From what I've read, dropping sessions more dramatically is more likely to kickstart your cycle and anything that gives you longer stretches in a row will do more than cutting out sessions spaced apart. If/when you decide you want to do anything (no pressure, obviously), I would recommend trying to cut out the nighttime sessions b/c developmentally they don't need them and they won't need to be replaced with anything. The kids just learn to drink a bit more before bed and a bit more in the morning (especially the morning one I noticed). See if you can calm YS down without feeding (or have your SO do that - that's what we did most of the time) if you decide to go this route. They still get the comfort and it's a bit gentler than CIO. It honestly only took us 3 nights of rubbing DD2's back (although the first night that was for an hour one time) to get her to be better at not expecting milk and then STTN (well - sometimes it's 5am and I feed her then and she goes back to sleep but I'll do that for the extra ZZZs at that point). Anyways, sorry for the novel. Not sure if @chindimples04 or @Kenneylynn3 have anything else to add but I'm happy to answer any questions about my experience or what I read, granted that all between DD1 and DD2 so I'd have to go back and find some things. I also continued to BF until 20 weeks pregnant when my milk dried up. This time DD2 is home with us, not at daycare, so I'm BFing basically at 7, 10, 1, 4, and 7  although sometimes with an extra morning session around 5am so 5-6x/day but nothing MOTN. Oh and when I got my period at 11mo pp after my first I didn't ovulate until CD 37 but we conceived that cycle just after her first birthday. This time I O'ed at CD19 which I attribute to a more gradual reduction in BFing (so less of a shock to my system WRT hormones) and the fact that It came back 1.5 months later. Okay, now I'm really done. Congratulations if you made it this far :D I remember being in here last time and wishing someone had experience with BFing while TTC.

@kvh22 thank you so much for all of the information!!! It is so so helpful to hear from people who have gone through it. We might be getting close to being ready to cut out nighttime feedings. Most nights she only wakes up once or twice at the beginning of the night which I don’t mind at all. But we will get the occasional night she wakes up wanting to nurse 4 times and that is so much harder on my body haha. Last night was one of those nights and I could barely stay awake while nursing her. Do you know if I start temping now will that help me get a better idea of what is going on with my body or will it not help much until my cycle has returned? Will I know what to look for if I’m temping now? I didn’t temp last time but I would like to do it this time. I feel like I’m just stuck and not moving anywhere since as much as we have tried thus far it hasn’t been productive since I haven’t been ovulating. So I think I’ll feel better if I can be proactive about something and I’m hoping temping could help me feel productive while I’m waiting for my cycle to return.
  • kvh22kvh22 member
@lee^2 I'm glad that was helpful! Looking at it now, it's so long so I apologize. Temping will only confirm ovulation after the fact (you'll get a temperature shift). OPKs (ovuation predictor kits) could help you to figure our before you ovulate that you *might* ovulate. You could buy a giant pack of cheap ones (some come with 80 OPKs and 20 HPTs) and test every day. I haven't used them a lot so others might have better advice on that. Also, you can get an LH surge while your body is trying to ovulate that doesn't actually cause ovulation so it's not a silver bullet. Tracking your CM and having sex when you have "fertile CM" (watery or egg white) is actually easier for me than OPKs but I have not TTC before getting my period. I was prepared to do so both times but adjusted my BFing enough to get my cycle back. I actually was researching the Ava bracelet but it said it can't do anything while BFing. I think CM + OPK to try to make sure you BD during the fertile window + BBT to confirm ovulation would work really well. Others have more experience with OPKs though.

What number are you trying for? 2

Month/Cycle? Breastfeeding, cycle hasn’t returned yet

WTO/TWW? It’s anyone’s guess at this point lol

Ages of other child(ren)? 13 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Maaayybe it’s a cycle?? Last week I had a few days of uncomfortable cramps, not really period like, and a lot of CM. A lot. A few days ago all the CM died up and I’m dry as a bone now.

Any questions? Anyone know if cycles of CM and dry are totally normal while breastfeeding before a cycle has returned or could it be a sign that my cycle returned?

Rant/Rave? Less than two months and I will be able to stay at home with DD and not have to deal with BS at my job anymore!!! I have been waiting for this for so long.

GTKY: What's something about you that others might find odd/quirky? I really want glasses and the last time I went to the eye doctor I was pregnant and hormonal lol but I was so disappointed when he said my vision was too good for glasses. I should be thankful my vision is good I know I know.

@kvh22 tracking CM was mostly what I did the first time around. It seemed to be much easier and less stressful. I know it’s not the most accurate though. But I can see how a combo of OPK and temping would really help. I even still have a bunch of the cheap strips left over from last time! Haha do they expire? I’ll have to check the box and see if it says
  • kvh22kvh22 member
@lee^2 they do expire. I have a pack that expired in Aug 2018 from DD1 (conceived Nov 2016). Apparently they get less sensitive but I got a squinter at 10dpo and positive at 11dpo on the cheapies that expired in Aug 2018 in very early Sept 2018 (right after they expired). I used them this cycle and got negatives but I don't think I'm PG b/c a new FRER was also negative so that doesn't mean anything but the research basically says expired ones can give a false negative OR positive so I'm planning to order new ones. Yours might not be expired, though (and definitely not as bad as mine purchased in 2016).
Also, it sounds like you might have ovulated with your CM description. It's not exact and I haven't researched how breastfeeding and not having your cycle yet affects CM. I can go down the google rabbit hole and report back tmrw :D

@kvh22 I have had plenty of times where I had an abundance of CM in the past 6 months. But the fact that I had a crazy amount and now nada it sure makes me think I could have ovulated! But really it’s probably just that CM is irregular while O is being suppressed by BFing. I guess time will tell.

@ashaislurking happy birthday to YS!! Did AF ever fing arrive? I saw your spotting ended up going away?

@DoubleUp8 my friend has a 6 year old and a newborn and the 6 year old is like LEGIT helpful so every month I’m here I think that is one month older for DD to be even more helpful

@kvh22 your symptoms lining up with your prior pregnancies sounds promising! Fingers crossed!

@chindimples04 I hope the molars come through quickly. DD did her 2 year molars split up 2 and 2 but it was also bad because they were right after each other and it just took forever. Molars are the worst.

@Panaceia welcome! I hope your stay is short!

@jenotontx that’s so cool that you played the tuba! Also I totally agree with your comment with the BLW extremists. They almost make me never want to do it just to defy them haha

@krash_ I am totally relating to your whole post. I’m also angry at my body for being able to do this before (I got pregnant on the 6th cycle so not immediate but not long!) and now apparently turning on me. I also have a close friend whose kid is almost the same age as DD and she is pregnant and it is SO hard. So so hard. And I also exclusively pumped so we are basically the same person 😉.

@Kenneylynn3 The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility taught me to temp (along with the Fertility Friend app). The book is a little dated but really easy to follow. Feel free to ask any temping questions that you have, everyone loves to help!

@mamasloth I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️. I was going to say the same as kvh22, the RRL tea is for pre-O! I’ve never tried it but have read about it on here. Also I’m wondering if you live by me since our zoo is referring to the tickets as “timed tickets” too, although I guess it’s not that original and a lot of zoos are probably handling that way

@lee^2 I think if you had fertile CM, that’s a good sign you ovulated. But I don’t really know. I exclusively pumped and got my period back 4 months post partum😢 even though I pumped for a year. Those first 4 months are a little fuzzy so I can’t remember if I had CM or not!

edit because that all posted as 1 paragraph. Yikes.
