question for those who use conceive plus or preseed (ideally those who have tried both)...do you find one to be better for lubrication vs the other?  last month FW was...rough...and i'm thinking of getting one of these to help out.

@asf0613 We have not tried Conceive+ but Preseed seems to work great for us. 

I started a grad announcements thread hoping "if I build it they will come," we are overdue!

@asf0613 I didn't care too much for Preseed. I've been liking Conceive+ so far. I think Preseed may provide more slick so you use less in comparison to Conceive+. Preseed was also thicker (I think) and spread further. One thing I do prefer with Conceive+ is that it comes in a lotion type of tube and flip cap vs Preseed that comes in a toothpaste type of tube with a screw cap. Nobody has time to get the Preseed cap on when you gotta DTD!

We really only need lube for the initial insertion as I'm usually fairly well lubricated once we get going and use maybe a dime sized amount max. When we're both dry it feels like it takes ages to get settled in and then get going. Probably some mismatched angles lol.

@legallykate not gonna lie, I got super excited for a second seeing that thread thinking somebody was graduating. And then I realized it had just been created so I was feeling hyped up for no reason

Can we talk TTC pseudo science type stuff? I am ready to try just about anything but it is hard to find info on the internet about what to do. I know about pineapple core after ovulation but tell me about all the other wacky stuff to try. I don't care if it is evidence based or whatever. The stuff that wont hurt to try even if it wont actually help.

@krash_ I heard eating pineapple core helps with getting a sticky baby? I also put my legs up and my hips on a pillow after DTD so the sperm don’t fall out. 🤣 ETA: didn’t read your comment well since you already knew about pineapple! Monday for you!

@krash_ echoing @chindimples04 with the legs/hips up with a pillow after DTD. Or, if you're interested you can try the menstrual cup. It helps keep it in there. Most don't really believe it has that much benefit since sperm is designed to go straight for the cervix/uterus, but it definitely helps prevent any from going out. I know they're often like "that's just the seminal fluid that comes out and doesn't contain sperm", but you never know!! Maybe also put a fertility idol next to your bed?

@inthewoods23 I've got another week of waiting to do. No idea what's going on with this cycle but unfortunately at this point being this late with no positive test almost certainly means I'm not pregnant. I know that you're not out until you're out, but I'm feeling pretty fucking out. I'll get labs done in a week if nothing has happened by then.

@ashaislurking it really is so bizarre. I've read of people saying they didn't get a positive until they were a week+ late but I have no idea of those people were tracking in any way. I can't believe they can't get you in sooner. You're a week late ALREADY. Hope you can move on from this soon in whichever direction that may be

@inthewoods23 they were going to make me wait two weeks until she asked me if/how I was tracking my cycles and whether I was reasonably sure I ovulated. When I mentioned mid-cycle spotting on CD15 along with a positive OPK and BBT shift she was like "oh, yeah... give it a week then call us!"

@ashaislurking wait so you still don't actually have an appointment on the books??? Why not just schedule it and then you can cancel it if needed. What if you call in a week and they can't get you in for another 2-3 days?

Man I get so aggravated just thinking about making appointments. Maybe I should go to the Monday BF thread and bitch about this lol.

@inthewoods23 My ObGyn's office is really good about getting people in quickly if you're an established patient. I'm not too worried about getting a timely appointment, especially if I call first thing Monday morning.

Just ordered Proov test strips! So from what I have gathered you use one before O as a baseline, one 3 dpo? to confirm O and 7-10 dpo to measure progesterone. I'm hoping they will give me some insight into my progesterone levels and the quality of my ovulation. Can't hurt, right?

@krash_ that is my interpretation as well.  however, i may alter mine slightly depending on when i O because i have an OBGYN appt on what might be CD 10 or 11.  id like to use my last strip the morning of my appointment if i can time it right

@keikilove it reminds me of a customer we had at Walgreens once back when I worked there in college who literally couldn't understand how anyone would need higher than a regular absorbancy tampons. I'm pretty sure she actually mentioned "you need to see a doctor if you're bleeding that much" as she was pointing to the super+ and ultra tampons. She definitely gives me "I always get my period on the 17th" vibes when I look back on it 😆

@inthewoods23 🙈🙋🏻‍♀️ BUT, to be fair, in high school they were always a week long (they didn’t shorten until I came off birth control) AND I’ve had toxic shock and can’t use tampons or cups, so I think it was God’s way of saying sorry! 🤣

I do not have 3 day periods but they are pretty tame and usually just 5 days. I can get away with light tampons the whole time if I change them more often but I can wear a regular all day. I can also sleep without a tampon or pad mid period and not bleed at night but I will need to put a light in during the day. 

Tbh it's actually one of my fears that because my periods are so light that the lining of my uterus isn't building up enough or thick enough for implantation.

@inthewoods23 🤣 mine are usually only 4-5 days but the first 1-2 are INTENSE. Like bleed through a heavy duty pad in 4 hours. Before I got my thyroid under control I used to frequently faint/throw up for hours because of it too.

@_orchid_ When I did use tampons, I was using super plus and changing every 2 hours those first few days. I still get pretty heavy on the first day, using a pad every 4 hours.

@chindimples04 oh no lol. I think I've always been worried about TSS so I've always done a tampon/pantiliner combo and I know to change my tampon when it leaks onto the pantiliner lol. Obviously if it hasn't leaked and it's been 8 hours I'll change it.

@krash_ I've read that it shouldn't matter how heavy your flow is, but I totally understand wondering about it. I would probably be more concerned if your periods were always 3 days or less. I really don't know what thickness lining typically is after a period. My CD3 scans usually showed a lining between 2-4mm, but mine also builds up to 10+mm. If you go in for testing I believe the US to look at the lining is usually part of the work up.

@krash_ My periods have been relatively light and short (usually 4 days of bleeding that barely requires a pad/tampon) the last couple years and I suspect it is a pleasant side effect of something bad too    It also makes it really hard to know what CD1 is because I never "fill a pad."

@inthewoods23 I was 16, to make matters worse. They think it was a combination of having to chance super+ tampons so often and swimming in the Mississippi River with a tampon in. It’s not the cleanest river.

I should probably post this to the questions thread but that doesn't seem to have much action so has any one paid out of pocket for initial testing? Blood work, HSG and SA. What kind of ball park would I expect this to cost. My OB is going to send a pre-authorization to insurance but if I can get the CD 3 blood work done before the holiday weekend I would like to do that. I'm comfortable if were looking at like $1,000-$1,500 but I don't want to have to pay a second time if I have to do all that testing again if I get referred to an RE. I know everything varies by state and dr but just wonder what other folks have paid.

@krash_ apparently all I want to do is TB instead of work.... My HSG cost around $600 after insurance, and all the bloodwork I think was a few hundred dollars (maybe 200-300, it's hard to tell from my claims). I didn't need to repeat the HSG that was done by my OB (I did eventually require the saline sono before transfers) but my RE is in the same medical group so they have super easy access to my records. I would think any RE would request that you send your previous results so that they don't need to redo things.

@bluetickgal i forgot quite a bit, but because i still work in kitchens where most speak spanish, i am quite fluent in "kitchen spanish"

@krash_ I would recommend calling wherever you want to go, telling them you're self-pay and asking what the price is for self-pay/what kind of discounts you can get. Anytime we've gone anywhere for something that I know isn't included in insurance, I straight up ask when I call for an appointment. I can't speak to blood work specifically, but every other procedure we've done from out-patient surgery to an eye exam has given a discount for being self-pay. In one case, it was a 70% discount if we paid within two weeks (50% discount if we took longer than that). 

The amount that showed up on @inthewoods23 claim is probably going to be significantly more than what she would have had to pay if she was self-pay.

I'm part of the lead team for an event that I attend and tickets go on sale tomorrow afternoon and I didn't have ANYTHING set up for my volunteers (google form, volunteer sign up, facebook group, educational materials, etc.) and I just feel like I need to scream and drink.
