@karmba Aside from really nice imported stuff, most of the cheeses I find here are pasteurized and should be ok to eat. I guess they still say that if it's cut there could be a problem if there was something on the knife, but I think the chances are fairly slim.
@laurenspdx Similarly, I think its usually fine. Bottled should be totally fine. If made fresh in a restaurant (with raw eggs) you're probably ok since eggs in the US, at least, are usually pasteurized anyway.
