Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: finding out (blood test for NIPT tomorrow!)
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: lime
Upcoming appointments:  blood draw and telehealth check in tomorrow
How are you feeling?: Every time I get excited about a day with less nausea, it comes back with evil vengeance. Almost every day at the end of the day. Uuugh
    Rants/Raves:
    Questions:
GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one? High school was a mixed bag. Parts of it were great, but we moved quite a bit and I ended up going to three schools by the time I graduated. that was sometimes challenging. In the end, though, it taught me a lot about adaptability and hard work. I haven’t been to a HS reunion and don’t plan on it, my graduating class has over 800 people and I was only there for around a year, so I don’t feel particularly connected.

Upcoming appointments: Not booked yet, but I need to book bloodwork, an US and appointment between July 10-20

How are you feeling?: Meh, time is moving at a snails pace.

GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one?  I didn't mind high school, my dad worked at mine (which I knew before choosing to go there).  I was on a couple of sports teams and the president of the Classics Club (Ancient Romans and Greeks and latin).  My class was planning a reunion for this October, but I'm guessing that will be cancelled because of the pandemic.

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: We’re finding out, NIPT is 7/7

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A pecan

Upcoming appointments: I see MFM on 7/7 and my OB on 7/15

How are you feeling?: I feel okay! SO HOT THOUGH. Both of my kids are summer babies. I’ve never been in the first tri in summer before
and the heat makes me puke 😬

Rants/Raves: So jealous so many of you are closing in on the first tri! 😅

    Questions: None this week

GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one? I was pretty quiet. I did well in school, and I had a close group of friends, but I wasn’t popular. I has a boyfriend all 4 years and I wish I would have spent more time figuring myself out. We have a reunion planned for 2021 and I’m not sure if I’ll attend. The people I cared about I still keep in touch with.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a cherry
Upcoming appointments: 7/18, I need to schedule my NIPT draw though so it will be before that
How are you feeling?: okay, not as nauseous or tired, or at least not as constantly.
Rants/Raves: the boys went back to daycare for 2 days last week and now we all have colds. I don’t look forward to this while our immune systems build back up!
Questions: how old are all of you getting the NIPT? I’m 31 and it’s my last pregnancy and I’ve had a prior miscarriage so I decided I wanted it this time. I had to fight my OB office so hard to get them to approve it even though I’m happily paying out of pocket for it. Is that normal that they would try so hard to keep me from getting it?
GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one? I was a jock and had a good group of friends. Wasn’t super popular or unpopular, just kind of in the middle. I’ve kept in touch with my best friends but everyone else has drifted. I don’t live in the state where I went to high school and didn’t go to college in that state either so I don’t see high school friends often. I have not made it to a reunion yet.
  • Ditto @lavenderclouds! Thank you to @whitealbum29 for keeping these check ins going!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Cherry

Upcoming appointments: First midwife appointment on July 2

How are you feeling?: Still less frequent and less intense nausea. Still exhausted in the afternoon/ evening.

Rants/Raves: Very excited that my husband and I have decided to put up a privacy fence in our backyard! I don’t care as much about the privacy as I do containing my 16 month old. Currently our whole “play” time outside is spent redirecting him from going towards the road.

Questions: Anyone else gagging their way through teeth brushing? I forgot about this from my first pregnancy. It’s a race between getting all my teeth brushed in time or vomiting in the sink. Boo.

GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one? Sometimes I shake my head when I think back to my high school self. I was loud and likely annoying though I thought I was funny/ cool. I went to a tiny high school and all the grades got along well. Lots of friends and lots of good memories. My husband and I both went there and many of our current friends did too. I went to my 10 year reunion but it was funny because it was obviously also tiny...

How are you feeling?: nauseous but it has been a little better this week.
Rants/Raves:  I won a freshly picked diaper bag and so excited to get it!

I was a drama and music nerd. I didn’t have a close group of friends. I just floated between several groups I would say. I haven’t got to a reunion but I’m not even sure if they held one for our 10 year and I’m honestly not very interested in going. It was fine but I’m already connected to the people I would like to be connected with.

  • @marynog yay for NIPT hope all goes well!
@hp242 yes! This tri seems to be taking forever!
@lavenderclouds hope everything with the move goes well and NIPT results look good!
@carleym93  same! This summer early pregnancy thing sucks 😂
@aels12 interesting you had for fight for NIPT approval. My office actually recommends it to anyone who wants it. I wish we were doing it but our insurance covers the NT Scan and not NIPT so we are going that route to start.
@oaktree6 I don’t have the teeth brushing this time but I wonder if it is because I have an electric toothbrush this time because I would feel so sick anytime I brushed with my first two.

  • @lavenderclouds Of course! So far I've been able to come up with GTKY's but if anyone ever has any ideas for them feel free to DM me or post them whenever! Haha every fact that Ovia tells me about the baby I'm just like "that's crazy" and am convinced the app is lying. An insane amount of stuff happens so early!
@aels12 I'm 36 so they recommended NIPT for me and it's covered although it doesn't feel very "covered" to me because I have to pay way more than I expected towards my deductible! I have a friend who also insisted on it when she was under 35 and was happy to pay out of pocket. If you want to pay out of pocket they shouldn't have any problem giving it to you, geez! That sucks that you had to fight with the office!! I think some doctor's offices are so used to seeing insurance companies deny people treatments and tests because they're not covered, that the idea of telling someone they can't have a damn test for their own well-being has become normalized, grrrr.
@stillcozy Ooh a free diaper bag! That's good that your office recommends the test for people who want them, that's how it should be! You're not asking for a little treat for yourself, it's a freaking test! Haha

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out, hopefully within a week with NIPT results
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Brussels sprout, kidneys may be functioning
Upcoming appointments: Made my 16 week (but will be 17 weeks because we're going away) appt today for August 4
How are you feeling?: Pretty good, still getting sooo tired at like 2pm but overall feeling good.
Rants/Raves: Finally had my first real doctor's appt today and heard the HB! It was 155 bpm and she said several times it sounded "awesome." :) Now waiting for NIPT results in a week and trying not to be too anxious.
Questions: Is it really really really bad that I had three bites of brie tonight? It seems some places online say most brie in the US is pasteurized...I might honestly call the restaurant it came from tomorrow and just ask if theirs is pasteurized. If it is that makes it ok/not a big risk for listeria right?
GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one? I was pretty insecure and dorky and unpopular, especially the first couple of years. I had small parts in school musicals, was terrible at gym/sports and math/science, good at English and never went to parties until the end of my senior year. In general I didn't like it but I'm sure a lot of other people had a harder time. I'm only in touch with one person now...I don't think my school really does regular reunions, I think if they did and I went I might have a nice time, but I also might just regress to my awkward high school self!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Brussels sprout; apparently practicing breathing

Upcoming appointments: First trimester screening next Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Overall pretty good; still getting tired easily, and also cranky sometimes.

Rants/Raves: We did our first socially distancing dinner outside with my parents for Fathers Day. We did takeout, and it went OK; not sure if I'd rush to do it again. Made an effort not to touch the same things, but I don't think my parents had the same idea. :\

    Questions: None at the moment

GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one? I was pretty dorky and unpopular, probably stemming from being teased a lot in elementary school and middle school. Just waiting to go to college so I could start fresh, I guess. I had a couple of friends that I'm no longer in touch with except for Facebook. I don't have an interest in going to any reunions because I don't like revisiting the past.

@whitealbum29, if it makes you feel better, I would call! I'm not a big cheese person, so this isn't something I researched. So exciting to hear the heartbeat for the first time!

@stillcozy, congrats on the diaper bag!
  • @aels12 I have Kaiser insurance and their policy during covid is to actually do NIPT as opposed to the blood test+nuchal translucency combo. I’m sorry that it’s been such a challenge for you to take the test. Would you consider switching offices?

@whitealbum29 all cheese sold in the US has to be pasteurized. I looked into this a lot during my last pregnancy because I wanted buffalo mozzarella like it was nobody’s business
  • hp242hp242 member
@whitealbum29 I'm eating brie as long as its pasteurized.  Everything I can find online says listeria only really prevalent in non-pasteurized so I'm sticking with that.

June 30 is my 12 week appointment, late because my doctor or is on vacation this week

    How are you feeling?:
still really tired, feeling that more than anything else. I’ve started to feel the baby move if I’m laying on my belly. Some nausea but primarily only late at night when I’m beyond tired.

Rants/Raves: I did a third kid thing and bought a new minivan yesterday. I’m in love! I don’t even care if it’s not cool this car is the best.

GTKY: What were you like in high school? Did you enjoy high school? Have you been to a high school reunion or would you go if your school had one?
I was homeschooled so my education wasn’t very traditional. I was very involved in extracurricular and super busy though, volunteer work, sports, music, etc. I won’t have a reunion, my H has his 20th coming up in the next couple of years, not sure if we will go, we live 1000 miles away from his HS but his family is all still there so maybe if it aligned with a visit.

  • aels12, I think it depends where you live. I'm 33 and in NYC, and it seems to be standard practice to at least offer it to everyone. I have to pay a co-pay, but I've been promised by the clinic not more than a couple hundred. Fingers crossed they weren't lying.
whitealbum29 yay for first appt! Wow, they had you wait a while. Also, I second what everyone's saying: cheese must be pasteurized to be sold in the US. I keep having freak out moments w food from restaurants too, wondering if they made it in house, but my husband is like, they would be out of business so fast.
HappyFeet34 Whaaat?? No way you can feel the baby move. Maybe it's bc you're a STM+ that you can detect. That's amazing!
  • @HappyFeet34 Amazing that you could feel the baby! So cool.
  • aels12aels12 member
@HappyFeet34 woooo yay for a new minivan! What did you end up getting? I have a pilot but I’m afraid I’m going to hate doing three across and might be van shopping too 😬
  • @HappyFeet34 yaaaaas girl!! We love our minivan! So much space, and it has a ton of features because nobody wants minivans
  • @lavenderclouds I think there’s a few reasons I can feel it. It’s my third so I just know what it feels like, I’m also pretty petite (or was before the pregnancy). I felt my first at 14 weeks. My second I didn’t feel until 17 weeks but I also found out my placenta was between my belly and her so that may have been why. This one I thought I felt a flutter around 11+5 but couldn’t be sure but I feel it much more now, I’ve confirmed the location with the Doppler and they are always in the same spot as the HB so I know it is baby, but I can only feel it when I lay on my belly not walking around or sitting. As a FTM you will probably feel it for a while though before you realize what it is, I didn’t know for a week or two with my first I was feeling the baby move.

@aels12 I’m also a Honda girl. I had a civic for a while, drove a CRV for 13 years and just bought the 2020 Odyssey. I LOVE it. We ended up doing the EXL with rear entertainment the kids think it’s the best thing ever haha.

  • @supersara2 We just did our first get together with my parents (and with anyone, since March) for Father's Day too. We met up in a park, I think SO and I have been pretty intense compared to a lot of other people about social distancing and I was a little freaked out too (I honestly wonder if it's a good thing that being homebodies has been so easy for us haha! Our closest friends just aren't in our city tho). But anyway, it seems contamination from surfaces is not as big a concern so you were likely ok!
@lavenderclouds Yeah I was surprised that my doctor didn't want to see me right away! Not sure what she would have done at like 5 weeks but still, haha. I did have an ultrasound at 7 weeks and had a telehealth appt with a nurse a couple weeks ago, but it was the first time actually seeing the doctor and it was good to see her!
@happyfeet34 Wow amazing that you can feel baby already!
  • @whitealbum29 I heard that too, but it's the principle! Haha. We tried to keep things separate...oh well. I don't think my parents think about these things, and they don't seem to take this as seriously as we are.
  • @supersara2 - haha, yes I totally get it! I've felt the whole time like my parents are being more lax than us even though they're in their 60s and my dad is not in the best health (not the worst health either at all, but still). They went to a restaurant in March the weekend after the national emergency was declared and were like "It was actually really busy!" as though that was proof that it was okay. I had to lecture them like I was parenting a couple of teenagers! It seems like they've def gotten better since then thank god but it kind of colored our view of how they're handling it.

I wasn't  "In" but I wasnt "out" either. Just somewhere in the middle. I didn't enjoy it or not enjoy it. It was just what i did. Work school home. Wash rinse repeat. I we.t to my 10 year reunion a few years ago. But it wasnt anything special because we all basically keep up with each other on Facebook.
