Have to reschedule my anatomy scan, but I don’t know when it will be. 

Rant/rave? 

Rant: So I brought up in another section, but I was planning on using a hand made family cradle. I brought up the new mattress question to my friend, and she went off on me about the cradle not meeting standards. I understand a crib, but I thought the baby can’t move much in the first month, and I refused the bumper. It’s pretty much a wooden box. I then talked to my parents, and they said they would be really sad if I didn’t use it. So I feel I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t. 

Edited: My parents live next door so they’ll definitely know if we use it or not. 

My boyfriend and I discussed it later, and are considering using the handmade one for naps when we’re present, and buy a bedside (foldable side) one for at night. I’ve always wanted one of those, and I think it will be really nice once I’m sleep deprived. Anyway I am just tired of everyone, in all areas of pregnancy and child rearing, giving their thoughts, and making them seem like their way is the only way. I’ve had several people tell me the complete opposite of each other.

Do you know of a good way to wake a baby  up before an ultrasound? I don’t want my next anatomy scan to be unsuccessful because she’s curled up again. I’m considering drinking juice beforehand, but do you know of anything else?

GTKY: What was the best present someone ever gave you? 

When I turned 18 my brother built me a computer, and completely surprised me after all the gifts were opened at Christmas. I still have it because I can’t bear to get rid of it, even though it has Windows XP on it, and it’s pretty much unusable.

Rant/rave? I may finally be going 100% telework at work.  I think mostly they want to shut me up (I have been complaining vociferously and persistently about the failure of custody staff to wear asks and social distance), but I'll take it.  It is hot and getting increasingly difficult to breathe while walking around in my mask (have gained 32 pounds so far.  Ugh.). I have also broken down and put a stepstool by my bed - it sits very high and I am short, so it's getting hard to climb in while cutting off my breathing.  Similarly, I'd say I'm about a month away from not being able to drive - I can't drive a lot of cars because I can't pull the seat far enough forward, and if my bump gets much bigger I'm not going to be able to safely reach the pedals in my car.

GTKY: What was the best present someone ever gave you? My parents gave me a car for my high school graduation.  We had a deal where if I got a full scholarship to college, I got a car.  I got the scholarship, so they showed up to graduation with a purple Saturn sports coupe.  I loved that car.  I still miss it.

Rant/rave? Rave: I’ve been hiking a lot with DS since DH is training for some races/adventure runs. I’m happy that I’m still able to hike, carrying him, in the mountains and not be completely dead or out of breath. I’m definitely bringing hiking poles this weekend to help with my balance. Rant: we have so many projects to get done at the house, but we’d much rather spend our free time outdoors so nothing gets done! I guess as long as I get the spare bedroom cleaned out before the baby comes I’ll be happy!  Another rant: I’m still not feeling a ton of movement from the baby! I have an anterior placenta, but I had one last pregnancy too and I remember feeling stronger kicks by this point! The baby was moving like crazy at my AS and I couldn’t feel anything! 

Questions? Not that I can think of 

GTKY: What was the best present someone ever gave you? I’d have to say my engagement ring. DH coordinated buying the ring while he was deployed to Afghanistan. He had my SIL go to jewelry stores where she lived to try on rings and send him pictures so he could choose one. He picked the perfect ring and it was amazing that he did all of that while he was overseas!

@westslopemama This is my first pregnancy, so I have nothing to compare it to. I also have an anterior placenta, and I have felt spurts of small kicks on my right side. At my anatomy scan the ultrasound tech was shocked I couldn’t feel her moving, so I think she’s moving a lot more than I’m feeling.

Rant/rave? Rave: I am kinda loving that I'm not constantly worried that my belly looks fat in things anymore... I just rub the belly and figure baby doesn't wanna hide anymore. Rant: we're redoing our master bath... which means I have to walk down the hall in the middle of the night whenever I have to pee. Also my work has decided that since I'm back in person I need ALL of the appointments, so my client intake have skyrocketed at the same time I'm preparing to take a 2 wk vacation, I really hate telling people in pain "so I'll see you in 3 weeks and then we can start".

GTKY: What was the best present someone ever gave you? My mom when I moved into my first real apartment and not dorm room gave me my great great grandmother's wooden cutting board. It is a thick heavy amazing cutting board that I love dearly, and is one of the few things we have from her side of the family.
