Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I feel terrible like I’m not doing a good job.

My son started walking at 11 months started climbing up and down the couches maybe even started running a little bit but he gets hurt a lot he stumbles falls and bumps his head a lot I feel like it’s my fault if I would keep my eyes and full attention on him 100% of the time It wouldn’t be happening. How do I get over this?

This is a normal part of child development. They stumble and fall and trip and bang their head on the underside of the table and hit themselves in the head with a toy and everything else. Helicoptering will not help, and children need to learn how to play independently.
  • You are raising an active young man. This is par for the course. You are doing fine. A bad mom wouldn't care. Keep loving and nurturing him and he'll be fine.

  • I got rid of our coffee table for a few months just so our daughter wouldn't hit her head on it while she was learning to balance, but once she started walking we'll I put it back. They've gotta learn someday. You are doing a great job mama, like the comment above me said, a bad mom wouldn't care so much.
  • Babies are curious beings. You’re doing the best you can.
