Spring FET

Re: Spring FET

  • @callingthestork yup, I started getting a sharp stabbing cramp around 3 days after transfer and a pulling sensation for several days. It was SO weird! I ended up getting a (possible?) squinted the evening of 4dp and a visible light line the morning of 5dp. That one was a hatching blast though and this one wasn't, so I guess it could be a bit behind!

  • Well, color me surprised. Despite 2 days of "normal" period flow, beta this morning came back at 68.6. Here's hoping for doubling by Sunday!! What a roller coaster of a week...
  • @becca07024411 hugs. To test or not test is such a mindf*. Thinking positive thoughts for you!
  • @halfanewt oh wow, CONGRATS! I was really thinking there was a good chance it would be something other than CD1 since you were on progesterone, but I didnt want to give you false hope! What a surprise! Did your doctor say anything about the bleeding? My nurse told me last time when I called freaking out about bleeding at 6 weeks that is was super common to have bleeding with IVF pregnancies..
  • @becca07024411 thanks! My nurse said likely cervical irritation, and to go on pelvic rest for now. Good to know about bleeding being common with IVF pregnancies - wonder why?

Part of my concern was that I have a history of starting cycles while on oral progesterone (though now I wonder a little if that’s what it actually was) while doing IUIs and they never did betas because of it, and had 0 bleeding with my first.
  • Whelp, just like last I got my first faint positive at 5dp5dt. Now to get to beta day Wednesday and see if the line darkens...
  • And levels more than doubled! Now nothing until first ultrasound in mid-July 😊

@becca07024411 hope time flies between now and Wednesday for you!
  • I am going to go ahead and get bloodwork done tonight instead of in the morning since I will be out of town on Friday for the repeat. This way I can do it Tuesday and Thursday night. Lines are getting darker, but I'm still nervous what the number will be and if it will double! I guess the worrying never ends!
  • Good luck @becca07024411 sending positive vibes!
  • @somewhereinnyc thanks, beta was a 98, so I go back tomorrow evening. 🤞 for doubling!

@halfanewt congrats, I'm not sure which is worse- the 2ww before beta, or the wait between beta and US?!
  • So my RE graduated me today..! Everything looked good at 7w1d 😬
  • @somewhereinnyc wow, congrats! You did unmedicated right?

I remember having a tiny gush of red right around 6 weeks and everything turned out fine. Did anyone have any tinted brown around 4 weeks? I barely noticed a tiny bit if brown tinted when I went to the restroom today. I am hoping it doesn't increase.
  • @somewhereinnyc congrats! That’s so exciting!

    @becca07024411 Congrats! 🤞 for doubling!
  • Thanks guys! Yes it was unmediated but I had progesterone injections daily after the transfer until yesterday.

@becca07024411 my last transfer, which resulted in my son, involved progesterone suppositories which resulted in irritation and light bleeding. Are you on progesterone?
  • @somewhereinnyc wow, that is great you already got to get off the PIO!

I started PIO 5 days before transfer and started the suppositories night. For some reason they dont have us start the suppositories until your 1st beta test. So far I havent noticed any other brown 🤞
  • @somewhereinnyc ooh, that’s good to know about the progesterone suppositories! I’ve been Google sleuthing (dangerous, I know) and think that might be why I was/am spotting. Did it resolve for you or just continue until you stopped? Is that why you did PIO this time? My RE doesn’t like to give out much info, so they’re just saying betas look good, pelvic rest.
  • The bleeding continued for me until I stopped. I found it really irritating/ uncomfortable and actually preferred the injections. My husband wanted to do them but I preferred to do it myself for various reasons. I think there’s some sort of acid or something in the suppository that’s makes it stick to vaginal walls.

My doc is pretty conservative. She uses the least amount of meds and visits necessary. I think most other RE’s have more regimented protocols.. It’s crazy how different protocols are between REs.

I’m also trying to not google. It just worsens any fears I have. But of course I do it anyway and then it’s all like “the world is ending/ everything will go terribly” 😒
  • @somewhereinnyc I do my own shots too because the 2 my husband tried bruised bad and bleed. I am fine with needles so it is nbd also. What gauge needle to you use? I have always used 25g since that is what the nurse has always prescribed, but the pharmacist gave me 23g this time and it is life changing!! Also, the red itchy blotches are about to drive me crazy! I guess it is some sort of contact allergy to the sesame oil, but it feels like quarter size chigger bites on my hips.

I never really had much bleeding from the suppositories, however last time right at 6 weeks I had a small gush of like 1 tablespoon of red blood all of a sudden gush out of nowhere. I freaked out and counted myself out, and then at my US a few days later there he was with a little heart flickering
  • @somewhereinnyc sticky acid?! Yuck! Didn’t know that. Weird that they were fine for me last time, but irritating this time. Bodies are strange.

@becca07024411 kudos to you for doing your shots yourself!
  • @becca07024411  Did you tell yourself doc about the allergic reaction? Perhaps might be good to let them know.. I just checked and it’s a 22 gauge needle (the higher the number, the small the diameter of the needle). But the pharmacy kinda just decided what needles for me- i didn’t know there was a choice! 🤷‍♀️ I only had to inject 0.5ml per night so it didn’t really accumulate there luckily! I bled like half the times I injected. I think it’s the increased blood flow bc pregnancy??

@halfanewt And yes! The progesterone gel has all sorts of other stuff in it to irritate us argh. But if you’re needle shy, maybe it’s worth it? https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/1283

I made an appt w my MFM (high risk OB) for July 30 which is when she will also do the fetal circulating DNA screen- which will also say whether boy or girl..! They didn’t have anything before that bc COVID of course. Can’t wait to get on zofran because my digestive system is just not handling this 🤢🥵
  • @somewhereinnyc yup, well, I told the nurse when she called and she said to use some topical benadryl on the skin. I do 2ml each night currently, so with the smart needles it was taking like a minute pushing as hard as I could to get it all out. A lot fo the time when I was using my left hand I would have to stop and regrip it, so the 23 was so much better since it was bigger!

Will you have to see a MFM the whole time or just at first to get the all clear?
  • @becca07024411 ohhh now I see why a wider needle was easier! That sounds super intense. Glad the contact allergy isn’t something to worry about. MFM the whole time bc I’ve had mild ITP (low platelets) most of my life.
  • 2nd beta came back at 271 and progesterone was up to 29.

I have a confession and I cant decide how bad this was to do. I live a couple hours from my clinic, so they allow us to get betas done locally and have the lab fax the results over. Well, I had my BW last night and I think the lab didnt fax the results until later today after the nurse left  because she never called me and they are only there for a few hours on Friday, so I missed the cutoff.  I was desperate to find out, so I called the lab and said I was the nurse calling for results and holy shit they just gave them to me!? I feel like that was probably really bad to do, but I just cant wait days for a result?!?

  • @becca07024411 congrats! I’m laughing so hard at your story right now. And maybe it’s a little bad, but waiting until Monday (!?) would be way worse!
  • @becca07024411 lol that’s awesome! Don’t feel bad- they are your results. Congrats on an awesome second beta!!
  • Wow @becca07024411 I'm actually really impressed that you did that but I can't believe they just gave them to you.  Good for you, I wouldn't be able to wait either and its ridiculous that they were going to.

  • Thanks yall. My husband actually had me freaking out a little saying my doctor could turn me away as a patient if he found out I did that and I was thinking that it is not likely they would find out. The lab definitely wouldnt want to "tell" on themselves.

Well, in hindsight I am glad I did it because I STILL HAVENT GOTTEN A CALL FROM THE NURSE! wth?!? What if my progesterone was low again?? Well  I called and left a message at 10am asking about results, but hadn't heard back yet. I did just find out someone at my clinic was supposed to start stims tomorrow, but they called and cancelled saying they were overbooked and couldn't schedule any until next year! (Partly due to covid setbacks and having to schedule less patients to accommodate social diatancing). Oh my gosh how horrible! I am wondering what that means for FETs and other procedures...
  • @halfanewt is you US this week?
  • So update and TW -

Had an early miscarriage last week. Had my f/u phone call today instead of the first US, so that was fun. Plan is to repeat the saline sono since it’s a year old (don’t get me started on that story) but otherwise good to try again once HCG is back to 0. Super frustrated with their handling of this on the bedside manner side, but we’ll stick with them for the next transfer(s).

  • @halfanewt I'm so sorry.

  • @halfanewt I am so sorry. Such a mind game with so many highs and lows.

  • tmi/tw,
I had bright red bleeding on Saturday that turned to spotting and then went away until last night and then it started up again with pretty large clots. My appointment is not until Monday, but I am pretty sure what to expect at this point...I wish I could get in sooner, but I guess there is really nothing they could do at this point anyway.
  • @halfanewt I’m so sorry to read your update... this whole journey is very difficult on us. Take care of yourself.

@becca07024411 I’ve jumped over to the July FET board now but wanted to reply to you as well. I had my transfer done last Thursday July 9, and I’ve started spotting on and off, bright red and brown with a few small clots. I called the clinic to let them know and my RE has put me on bed rest until my beta on Tuesday. He also said to be very careful when inserting the progesterone suppositories. I think it’s my period trying to push through, but that’s probably just my mind spiralling. I’ll keep hope until my beta. FX for you as well. Take it easy if you can.
  • Just an update>

Baby was there with a 98bpm, but I have a very large and concerning SCH with a big tear in the placenta. RE said the action point is 1cm and mine is currently 3cm. He is having me stop the blood thinner, go on bed rest, and come back Monday. He said it is about a 50/50 chance at this point.
  • Hang in there @becca07024411.  Follow your instructions and hope for the best I guess.  I'm sorry you are experiencing this stress.
