Confess away, within the cone of safety!

I'll start...I actually like it when people pat my belly.
Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

Re: FFFC 5/8

  • I ate almost a whole pint of ice cream last night, and I would have eaten all of it if my husband hadn't stolen some bites. I have no regrets.

  • I left the house today to take my pupper to the groomer and went grocery shopping for the first time in over a month. My husband just doesn't get how happy it makes me to get to pick out the veggies and shop for tasty food. I almost cried because I was so happy to find good blackberries and zuccini. Stupid virus.

Sort of along the lines of @aefsparrow: I'm planning on going grocery shopping either today or tomorrow. I haven't personally done a proper grocery shopping trip in almost two months, and have mostly been relying on Instacart, but I am so sick of their weird-ass substitutions and not paying attention to special requests (i.e. green bananas). I can understand them omitting items that are unavailable, but sometimes the substitutions are frustrating or laughable. I'd rather omit than substitute with something random that I don't want or won't use.

ETA: I also can't wait to start using the dedicated "Expectant Mother" parking spaces.  :D

  • I'm planning on going grocery shopping in person on Monday for the first time in 6+ weeks as well! Going to wait for a weekday and hope it's a little less crowded than it would be on the weekend. Will wear a mask and all that. I'm just looking forward to getting out and getting to plan meals based on what's actually available.
  • I MISS GROCERY SHOPPING SO MUCH. I never thought I’d say that DH and I used to go together or I’d do it alone, but he’s been doing it all for the last two months.
  • @babyodo I’m so jealous—I haven’t seen a single store around me with Expectant Mother spaces! The only time I’ve seen them ever was at HEB when we lived in Texas for a few months.
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason that's because Here Everything's Better. Love my HEB 💗
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason @peanutorcookie @babyodo we have them here too but only at Hyvee! Which is where we always grocery shop too. I literally have been waiting for the day I could park in those spaces 😂
  • @mamahosch Hyvee is legit!  We don’t have them here but when I go visit my mom there is one where she lives.  There is always so much stuff I want to sample and get at the various deli counters!
  • @peanutorcookie Besides the friends we made while living there, HEB is far and away the thing we miss the most about Texas. 😁
  • Anybody live close to a WaWa please wave at it for me when you drive by 😆.  When I was stationed in VA I used to love that place. Always such magical things could be found there.
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason it’s the best grocery store! 🙌🏻 We have one basically right down the street from us. So convenient

We had WaWa subs for dinner on Friday night because I was craving a good sandwich. They have their slushee machines turned off though because of COVID (no self-serve drinks) so I was sad because I really wanted one. WaWa is legit, I loooooooooove their food. I've never eaten a bad thing from them. I wish they'd make their turkey bowls a year-round thing, but I get why they don't.

  • What is a Wawa?

  • @kboydbowman WaWa is basically a five star restaurant in a gas station 🤣.  Made to order gourmet sandwiches, make your own milkshake machines, fresh produce, and all the other normal gas station stuff.  I haven’t been there since I left the east coast but man it was amazing last time I had it!  @babyodo can probably elaborate a bit more on what else there is to offer there now.

WaWa is like the Rolls Royce of gas stations, lol. They're super clean, and offer a wide variety of food items, both prepackaged (think apple slices w/caramel, cheese & cracker trays, premade sandwiches for grab n' go lunches, cream cheese filled pretzels, chicken nugget bites) and they have a made-to-order counter that you use a touchscreen to order your food. You can customize your orders, too. Our favorite is what we call mac n' balls (mac n' cheese with meatballs marinara on top). Every Fall they have the Gobbler turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce, or you can get a turkey bowl and it's fantastic. You can mobile order and pick it up, and they recently started offering delivery at some locations, too. The staff is usually really nice, and top of everything else they have free air for your tires, lol. There's almost always a line at the free air pump at my local WaWa LOL.

  • The way everyone feels about WaWa is how I feel about Sheetz. I miss them so much now that I’m not on the east coast. 😭
  • Maybe my confession should have been that I've been grocery shopping several times! My husband has severe asthma and after 3 failed grocery pickup attempts, I've just been making a big trip every two weeks or so.

    Also, Hy-Vee is life!
  • I miss Wawa and Sheetz so much since I moved to NM!

Rant of the day... lady checking me out at the register on Friday asked if I was having a boy and girl, when I told her we were gonna wait until they were born she looked horrified. She asked how we were going to be prepared and how we were going to shop unless everything was going to be yellow. She looked at me like I had three heads when I said boys can wear pink, girls can wear blue and babies arent going to care what color they're wearing. Like seriously... really... also I hate yellow...
  • @aefsparrow Ugh. I hate unnecessary gendering.

  • @aefsparrow, I seriously don’t understand why anything thinks you have so much to plan whether the baby is a boy or girl. Finding out the sex is still relatively new.
When I was pregnant with my daughter, one of the first things I bought was a football Nike outfit. My FIL said I couldn’t put that on a girl. 🙄.

@aefsparrow  It isn't any of her business.  I just plan on having my daughter wear the same baby clothes that my son wore.  I'll probably buy a few new items, but clothing color is such a low priority for me.

  • @aefsparrow people are crazy. I have been digging though and organizing all my boy hand-me-downs even though we're having a girl... I can't let all the jeans, overalls and frogs and octopus things go to waste!! Obviously "mommy's little man" will have to sit this one out...

I have definitely picked out all the sports team stuff, too! I am not that into sports, but my husband and his family are so she will be expected to represent... and there's really nothing I hate more than the pink frilly versions of sports team apparel.
  • @ginevere my sister has a boy (4 yo) and a girl (2 yo). She passed me all her boy stuff early that she claimed she wouldn't have her daughter wear just in case I have a boy in the future (have a 21 mo daughter now). I ended up sorting through it and pulling all the sports stuff for my daughter now! She loves her "ball pajamas" as she calls them. 😊
  • The gender “correct” clothes is the only reason I didn’t want to find out the sex of the baby. I’m worried we’re going to get so much pink and frilly stuff. Luckily my family is very open when it comes to gender norms, and will have no problem giving me “boy” hand me downs to balance out the pink.
  • I honestly love animals, so the benefit for me will hopefully be LOTS of cute animal/dinosaur baby gear! Also that way when strangers ask if it's a boy or a girl I can say "obviously it's a duck"
  • @aefsparrow Ha! With my first, people would ask “do you know what it is?” And I would look at them very seriously and say “it’s a baby...”
