20 Week Ultrasound Thread

I thought a new thread specifically for this ultrasound might be warranted, since we're all around 18-22 weeks at this point! I know we have an  u/s picture thread, but this one can also include the baby's sex (if you chose to find out), and any positive OR concerning updates from the scan. 

Feel free to post a picture and an update! I want to see pictures and updates!

Confirmed Boy so our baby is officially named Ryan Thomas 
they said everything looked great and we feel very blessed to hear that.

It was a bummer to have to go alone, but the baby was very cooperative and every body part looked normal.  My 2nd baby had a heart issue (it resolved by birth, he's okay!) so it was good to see that this one had everything normal as can be!

I had mentioned in a previous thread that I've been having a lot of cramps and BH already. My cervix is currently on the shorter-than-average side, but not short enough that they were concerned at all.  Probably just a fourth baby thing!

Here's the best shot we got - she's right behind the placenta so she's covered by a blob in every 3D pic

@dontcallmeshirley1 that’s a great one! They didn’t have 3D imagining for us. I think that is a great view of baby!

Everything looks good so far, I was so dreading doing the AS alone.  The tech was quite grumpy and edgy when I first went in and I was already upset DH couldn't join me, so I couldn't stop crying.  Between my sobs and baby not staying still she was still able to get some good shots, and was warm and gentle by the end of the visit.  I have my follow up appointment with the midwife on May 6 so hoping to hear more details from the scan.

Anatomy scan was 4/9 at MFM at 19 weeks. It was a heartbreaking to not be able to have H there and not be able to video him in or take pics and video, but I held it together and just got misty eyed once. I found out we are having a girl (after 2 boys)! Everything looks good and she had the prettiest lips. She is measuring a little big which is how my boys were too (still are). My placenta is anterior and also has an extra horn piece which seemed a bit abnormal given how much she mentioned it. It was a MFM consult as well regard the limitations for delivery because of my low platelets. Everything was the same as my prior pregnancies (no vacuum or forceps, no epidural depending on platelet levels during labor). The only difference was I asked if I should be induced earlier given the trajectory of my levels, the head size of my kids, and that my second had low platelets at birth and she said that would be favorable. During my 20 week appointment with my OB the following week she confirmed that I will be induced at 39 weeks. So unless something changes this will be an August baby.

My little babe was so wiggly and would not stop putting its hand up by its face that we couldn’t get a great profile.  There was one point where babe kept hitting back at where the wand was. It was cute.  

Team green and praying for good news from the amnio this week. Pretty much been the longest two weeks of my life.  Next scan is on the 19th and fingers crossed for good news then too.

Mine was on 4/27 at 19+1. Everything looked good from what I could tell! His HR was 156. I have a posterior placenta. He was being shy about his privates but she ended up getting one photo. We already knew he was a boy though from the NIPS. He was head and face down with his back angled up to my left. I drank a coke before my appt because I’ve heard it gets them moving. He was moving a ton but not in the way she needed him to 😂 she had to repeatedly jiggle my stomach with the wand to try to get him to turn so she could see more. Eventually he moved a little bit so she could take more photos. We were lucky enough to get some 3D photos of him and I’m obsessed with his face already! He is measuring ahead by a few days which he always has been (earlyish ovulation). But they’ve kept my EDD based off my LMP. Part of his head is measuring a whole week ahead (yikes) lol but I’m just happy he’s all good in there and I can’t wait to meet him!

 My sweet precious Scarlett 💗 I can't remember how far along I was at the time but I think it was 20+1. She's such a mischievous naughty bean, not wanting to stay still for the poor sonographer! 
Despite my fretting that inexplicably something would be wrong, everything is healthy with her and the doctor reassured me that there's very little chance of her having any birth defects. (As far as I can tell, she's also in the normal size range and not extremely large as I've been terrified she'll be!) I didn't get a chance to get any 3D imaging done and I'm not sure I'll be able to, but that's okay because I already love her to bits and pieces and I'm certain seeing her actual face will reduce me to tears. 
I truly was shocked that she's a girl. I've been convinced this entire time that I'd be having a boy that I'd been settled on it up until the moment my SO and I opened up the envelope together.

@Louise_Belcher My babies all measured big too! This one is a week ahead, but by the end they're always 2-3 weeks ahead.  They've never been too big at birth though, but they've all come early.

No pics, obviously, but everything looked good on my anatomy scan. She was measuring a little under a week behind, but I kind of expected that since DS also measured small. Except his gigantic head lol.
Our scan took a little while because she kept flipping front to back, but at least I don't have to go back this time lol

@dontcallmeshirley1 That sounds about right for what mine did too. My first was almost a week late and was only 8lbs 2oz so not giant thank goodness! My second was 2.5 weeks early and was 6lbs 11oz so I think had he gotten to finish out his stint inside he might have gotten pretty big.

Thought I'd pull this from the u/s thread and throw in here with an update

Had my anatomy May 1st. The techs aren't allowed to say anything in Ontario and we aren't finding out gender so not much to report ... the baby would not flip so she said she was hopeful she got enough images of the heart so that I don't need to do a repeat. I've never been to this lab before but they can't print pictures ... the tech said she could put some on a CD for me but I just snapped a few of the screen from my phone 



I got a call from my OB's office this morning that they saw the images and they didn't get good enough scans of the legs and feet so I need to go back May 12th. I'm not super pleased but I guess I can't complain!

Just got the official news that DH can’t come to my anatomy scan on Wednesday 😔 I am super bummed. I know we’re all in the same boat so I know you ladies get it! It’s just so disappointing as we have waited so long to reach this point and he’s missing out on all these happy moments. Prayers and kind thoughts would be appreciated for my nerves! My blood pressure has been soaring before checks and this just feels like such a huge milestone to pass through. And as you all know the mask wearing does not help the calm breathing 😂 Hopefully I’ll have a good report come Wednesday and will finally know whether this little sweetie is a boy or girl!

@momofmiracles31889 I’m so sorry your DH can’t come! I’ll be saying some prayers for you Wednesday I know how stressful ultrasounds can be. And I had to wear a mask for mine too I was so lucky DH could come to mine. Afterwards my blood pressure was pretty high lol. Try to breath as best you can!

I was really nervous and bummed not to have DH with me for the anatomy scan. We got the worst news at the first ultrasound I ever had and honestly I get scared before every single one. It is hard but you’ll see that beautiful little baby on that screen and you’ll get through it. Every hard step of your motherhood journey will show you how strong you can be. I know that sounds corny but it is true. 

The weirdest part of my appointment was the fact that they couldn’t get my blood pressure. They tried 3 times on the first machine and then 3 more with a cart one in a room and then finally they got out the manual one out and got it that way. My arm is all bruised. I usually have super low blood pressure and they’ve had trouble getting it before but this was just silly. 

Everything looked great with the babe which really made me feel a lot better. The only positive to having so many complications last time was extra appointments and constant ultrasounds I got to see him all the time so this time around it seems so few and far between.

Anatomy scan went great today! Baby looked perfect and was super active! Haha also my cervix check was good so that’s a relief. Because of my history and that I have a slightly arcuate uterus and that they couldn’t get a great view of the right side of the heart they’re gonna do another check at 28 weeks which I am fine with! But the doctor said everything looks great. Also... it’s a boy!!! So excited to have two little boys almost exactly 2 years apart!

@momofmiracles31889 congratulations! Glad it went well and how fun for two boys — we have two girls and their relationship is my favorite. 

I go in the morning and got the call that I have to go alone. They did say FaceTime may be possible. My hubby is going to go along and stay in the car. I’m hoping to be able to record some to show our girls too but we’ll see. But overall I can’t wait.

Thanks @Louise_Belcher and @pai314!! We’re so excited for the close in age sibling dynamic! Our one set of nephews are about 2 years apart and the other set about 3 and they are such buddies! So excited for our little boys to have that!

Sorry you have to go alone it’s so disappointing! That would be awesome if they let you FaceTime. Mine didn’t allow any of that but my tech was really nice and took pics on my phone of baby to send to DH awhile. Once I saw baby moving around and heart beating I felt relaxed and I have found that doctors techs nurses etc are all extra kind and empathetic during this hard time which is a blessing!

Our scan went great & we did our reveal & finally announced that we’re expecting.
We’re having our third daughter! They gave us a disc with little video clips and all the pictures plus prints of the photos as well which they have not typically done in the past so I thought that was awesome. Especially since I had to go alone.
