Unpopular opinions, spill 'em.

I'll start. Disneyworld and Disneyland are overpriced and a waste of time compared to most amusement parks.
Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @kboydbowman YAS. Not enough roller coasters.

I want to vomit anytime someone posts a picture of their US and say “look at this potty shot” or when people give cute names for genitals. Call them what they are— there’s no need to be ashamed.
  • Loading the player...
  • @mckjacks, same.
I also hate when people post a super early US pic and want everyone to guess the sex.
Along the same lines as cute names for genitals, I hate when people are refer to breastmilk as boobie milk or titty milk. You are a grown ass adult, stop!

I personally love Disney World though I do agree it’s overpriced.

My current UO is that nothing in the constitution gives anyone the right to post false information and hate speech on Facebook. You don't need to sell you animals on Facebook and you don't need to subject everyone else to your personal conspiracy theories on covid or vaccines or anything else. Free speech gives you the right to say things and not be killed for them, it does NOT mean Facebook needs to be your personal soapbox.
Edit because I accidentally hit post before I had written two words

  • @kboydbowman I know! I tried to hit x on the stupid drafts banner that pops up constantly on mobile and I accidentally hit post 🙈
  • Not sure it's a huge UO but I hate stairs and I love living in a one level hime

We're a Disney family, so I'll just let your UOs roll off my back, lol. I have consistently gone to WDW every year since 2011 (sometimes twice per year). We took a break after our 2018 trip so I could finish grad school and we could start a family, but we're planning our next trip for Feb. 2021.

I don't really have an UO for this week. But, I'm still having my morning coffee, so...LOL

  • @babyodo I’ve never been to Disney world and it’s been my dream since I was 5 😭😭😭 DH was actually going to take me there to propose (he wanted the whole Disney theme to be complete with my Rapunzel engagement ring) but for some reason he didn’t do it. So disappointed when I found out that little tidbit after he proposed on our couch with the Beauty and the Beast rose instead LOL

UO - Brownies with walnuts are disgusting. I don’t need crunch in my soft chewy delicious brownie.
  • @babyodo I’m a roller coaster person when I’m at an amusement park so Disney just doesn’t do it for me.
  • @mckjacks Exactly re: Disney.

@mamahosch TOTALLY agree on the brownies.  I also prefer to slightly undercook them so they're super gooey.

I think most people find Disneyworld to be overpriced. 😅 I had sticker shock when I planned our trip but really we didn’t spend more than we would on a normal vacation and had the best time ever. And going somewhere that every single detail is designed for kids is worth a loooot to me traveling with a toddler.

  • Obviously there are mixed opinions on Disney here so I don’t know what the Star Wars feelings are... but I will say, in honor of “Star Wars Day,” my UO is that Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi is the best of the final trilogy. And Rose is the best character from the trilogy—I’m actually quite annoyed with her essentially being written out of Rise of Skywalker.
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason My feelings are that there are only three movies, and the rest are blasphemy.

  • @kboydbowman I thought Rogue One was great! FAR better than the any one of the new trilogy!
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason I repeat, only episodes 4, 5, and 6 exist.  All others are blasphemy.

  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason, I LOVED The Last Jedi! Just watched it last night.
The Original Trilogy is my favorite followed by the the most recent.
Rogue One was and is awesome!

  • Okay, so I LOVE Star Wars. Obviously nothing tops episodes 4, 5 and 6. Don't crucify me, but my Very UO is that I actually like the prequels. There are certainly things I would change, but I love the story and the Clone Wars animated series really helps add depth and understanding despite it being geared towards children. No regrets.

I have also been reading Queen's Shadow which is a book about Padme and her rise to the Senate following her time as Queen and it is fascinating. Padme and Anakin are two of my favorite characters and honestly the prequels really didnt do their characters/ relationship much justice.
  • This will be a very UO, but I don’t really like watching movies. I love television series, but I don’t like most movies. And I really don’t like going to the movie theater.
  • @mckjacks I don’t really like going to the movies either! I usually wind up with a migraine by the end.
  • AB518AB518 member
@mckjacks  I don't like going to movie theaters either.  However, I do like drive-in theaters because they remind me of my childhood.

I saw the Star Wars movies for the very first time less than a year ago.  There was a Star Wars marathon on one of the channels, so I just binge watched all of them.  DH has always loved Star Wars.  I don't understand why people like them so much.  He told me that I would feel differently if I actually started watching them when I was younger.

@AB518 - Yeah, Star Wars is usually more of a 'thing' for people who were raised watching them. Starting them in adulthood makes them lose their luster. That could be said of a lot of nostalgic things. For instance, I grew up in Southern California and my family used to eat In-N-Out burgers at least once or twice a month (my brother lost his first tooth in an In-N-Out burger). Whenever I have friends from the east coast go to California or Las Vegas and they eat there, they're always like, "Meh, I think Five Guys is better." BLASPHEMY!!  :o

  • @babyodo Five Guys is way better!  Sorrynotsorry
  • I don’t like going to the movies as well. I want to be able to pause the movie, if I need a break, and I don’t like it being so dark.

I also haven’t even seen all of the Star War movies. I think I’ve seen two of them, but I also saw them in adulthood, and couldn’t get into them.  I actually get bored during action scenes in general, so they aren’t my thing.
  • @mckjacks I never go to the movie theater, like I think I've been twice in two years. Your other part about not liking to watch movies is 100% my DH. He will watch TV shows but does not want to sit for a whole movie. Anytime we do movie night it is very obviously him sacrificing for me. 😝

My UO-I think coffee creamer is gross. I don't enjoy the taste of coffee with creamer at all. I get that coffee can be too bitter for some people (not me), but then I'd much rather have tea or something else over creamed up coffee. Bleh.
  • Sorry @babyodo but In and Out are just burgers.  They're not bad, but there's really nothing special about them.  However, I was living in Texas for 8 years and I also think Whattaburger is overrated.

  • Disney World is way more expensive than it needs to be, but it’s about the only thing I’ll spend money like that for. Otherwise I’m pretty frugal.

    Agreed about walnuts in brownies.

I’ve never had In and Out, we don’t have them here. Five Guys is delish though.

I love cream in my coffee. Not flavored creamers though, just good old half & half.
  • UO any flavored coffee is gross... buuuut chocolate in coffee is delicious... also chocolate or kahlua are the only acceptable things to put in coffee...
  • Yeah I really can’t do flavored creamers.
Agree with the chocolate and khalua and also add Bailey’s to that list.

I’ve never had In and Out but I do love Whataburger and their spicy ketchup

See, I think Five Guys is way too greasy and just not enough flavor, lol. I think I've eaten there twice (once in FL and once in VA) and both times I wanted a refund. I will say their fries are better than In-N-Out, though.

I also don't like flavored creamers. I think they taste artificial and leave a weird coat in my mouth (looking at you, Coffeemate). I also have bad memories tied to Coffeemate vanilla creamer - that was my abusive father's creamer of choice, and just the smell of it makes me want to vomit. So, yeah, none of that for me, thanks. I usually just do half and half with stevia in my coffee.

  • I live in Iowa and we have Five Guys which is way overpriced and greasy. But last summer we went to Destin for our honeymoon and had Whataburger for the first time. Omg 🤤

    UO - beer is gross.
  • Not an UO but I just want to send a big FU to the lab doing my NIPT.  It’s been 2 weeks now and still no results.   My anxiety is at an all time high, I just need to know this baby is healthy.   Last time I got a false positive with my DD and it’s definitely out a lot of fear into my mind this time around.
  • Maybe it is just flavored creamer that I don't like. That's all DH uses though. I figure I've gotten used to coffee without it though, so probably won't start now. Less calories plus meant I can drink it before fasting labs and my glucose test. I'm not sure if I would have survived that test in my last pregnancy without it, and I only had to do the one hour. 😂

Aw @mamahosch boo on your beer hate. Although beer does not sounds good to me right now, I'm usually a beer girl.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 I’m sorry!!! My husband loves all beer so he gets disappointed in me too lol. I’ve really tried to like it but I think it’s the aftertaste for me. Give me all the sweet wine though or margaritas 😍
  • @mamahosch love margaritas too. I've been craving one for weeks! Might be my first postpartum drink. Maybe an UO, but I can't handle sweet wine. Tastes like bad juice and makes me feel sick! I'll take a dry red any day though. Pinot noir is as sweet as I will go if I have a choice.
  • Beer is awful. DH is an avid homebrewer with dreams of opening his own brewery in the next few years, so my not liking beer is a major bummer for him. What's funny is that his current job is designing video games, and I'm not at all a video game person, either. Opposites I guess 😄
  • babyodobabyodo member
@carrotsandpeas3 - same here, sweet wine tastes like oversweetened juice to me, and gives me an instant headache. I like a good dry cabernet, myself. Or red blend. My (cheap) wine of choice is Apothic (Red, Crush, or Dark).

  • Five Guys fries are awful. So floppy. Every time I'm in there and see all the posters of their awards for fries I'm like, "HOW?!" I also think In n Out fries are awful though, lol. Too crunchy and dried out.

I started out drinking Moscato and Riesling and that's how I learned to like wine and now I wouldn't be caught dead drinking those. So sweet. 🤢

  • No to sweet wine!
I love a nice glass of Malbec. I’m planning on buying a bottle is that will be waiting for me when I get back from the hospital after this baby is born.
Also wine slushies are gross and usually way too sweet.

  • Wait @mamahosch are you saying you ENJOYED Whataburger? We ate it once when we lived in Texas and I got sooooo sick. Up here in Seattle we have local favorite Dick’s Drive-In. I fully acknowledge it’s probably a hometown pride/thing I grew up on, but it blows away Five Guys and In-N-Out. Every time I’m in California I try In-N-Out because my memory gets a little bit hazy. And every time, I can’t figure out why it is so beloved. 🤪 Five Guys we’ll go to in a pinch, but it’s def not high on our list. It does beat Habit Burger though...
  • babyodobabyodo member
We used to eat at Dick's a lot when I was stationed in Seattle. Ah, memories...
