What fruits are a no go during pregnancy?

edited April 2020 in November 2020 Moms
First time preggo here! I've pretty much been googling what I can and can't eat before eating it, which can be a little annoying especially if I'm craving certain things, but I'd rather be safe than sorry obviously.

I'd like this discussion to specifically discuss what fruits aren't good to eat during pregnancy. I've read different things online about grapes and pinapple being bad but I love both of those fruits a lot, so I'd love anyone who's had children previously to help me get a proper answer.
Thanks!

  • I personally think it’s all fine in moderation. I wouldn’t eat a whole pineapple but I think if you eat a few slices, even daily, you’ll be fine. I’ve definitely eaten some pineapple this pregnancy.

  • Obviously, this is a personal decision to some extent, but I side with @Ecat504 on this. I think most everything is ok in moderation and within reason. I found the book "Expecting Better" to really help with putting a lot of things into perspective with pregnancy, and she laid out a lot of really good research on food and what to eat. I'd have to re-read it, but her main takeaway if I remember correctly was that everything is pretty much fine, but if you want to play it safe, mostly just avoid deli turkey as that has the highest chance of listeria. That's literally the only food I avoided last pregnancy and same this go-around.
  • I've never avoided any sort of fruit and never been told to.
I've craved grapes every pregnancy. I currently eat a bag a week by myself.
