How are you feeling? Pretty Good...just continued fatigue and RLP but both have been very tolerable.
Raves/Rants: I got "deployed" to a video clinic for covid patients this week. I like it and feel like even though I am WFH I am contributing in a relevant way! I was feeling guilty because most of my team got deployed to the covid ICUs and I was just doing administrative tasks. No legitimate rants for today other than I want a pedicure, mint chocolate chip ice cream (can't really justify a trip to the store for just this) and jimmy johns. First world probs.

Materialistic/AW things: going out in public to show off this bump, the above mentioned pedicure and mint chocolate chip ice cream, going to target and parusing each aisle at an unnecessarily slow pace.
How are you feeling? Insomnia is kicking my butt. But working on nursery has me motivated. I can't wait for my next ultrasound next week. I finally can feel my little girl. In the beginning I thought it was muscle spasms. 😉

@maelove i feel you on the ice cream. just being able to go to a store for whatever instead of waking 2 or 3 weeks between grocery hauls will be nice....

How are you feeling? OK. I think I'm getting another UTI as I've had some cramping. BH have been ramping up, which is just super fun.
Raves/Rants: I reckon this is both, baby has been moving into funky positions so some days, I feel him a ton, and others I may only feel a flutter here and there. Of course this also means I am super uncomfortable a lot because he tends to do some weird poses. Times like this, I wish I was taller because then it wouldn't be so impactful.

GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over? Like so many of you, I'm looking forward to doing all the out and about "kid stuff" like the zoo, children's music, parks etc. with DS. He experiences all these things like they're brand new as he gets older, and it makes me so sad that we're missing this window. I'm also excited to go out to dinner with DH and drink waaaayyyyy too much wine! Not sure if baby or COVID will be the hold-up on that one, but sadly I suspect COVID.
Upcoming appointments: None actually, I have to schedule my 24 week appt, not sure if it’ll be in person.
Feeling ok - occasionally short of breath briefly. And yesterday I felt crazy stiff getting off the couch a couple times, like my hips weren’t working? But I’ve been sleeping well the last few nights finally (knock on wood). @strawberryfields82 I can definitely relate to baby feeling like muscle spasms, I’d been calling them little twitches until recently when they started feeling a little stronger.
Raves/Rants: The weather has been gorgeous, and sitting in my hammock in the backyard has definitely been helping with the cabin fever. Thank you spring! My little tomato babies are loving it too.
Questions: Nope.
Honestly really looking forward to going back to work. No idea when it’ll happen since my job requires large gatherings - could be I’m just off until after the baby, which bums me out a little. Hoping we’ll be getting some unemployment by next month!
Upcoming appointments: Had one yesterday for my GD screen. Next is in 4 weeks for a tummy check.
How are you feeling? I'm feeling big and my back is always sore. I keep joking I don't know how I can possibly get any bigger... but I will because ya know, 40 weeks and all. @wildrainbow I've been having crazy BH too! It's such a crazy sensation. The weirdest part is how hard my stomach gets.
Raves/Rants: RANT - I am starting to stress about my delivery plan. I was fine and settled with a repeat CS. But now I'm not sure if I want to be in the hospital that long for recovery. There are pro's and con's with each option and I obviously need to decide soon.
Questions: How did everyone feel after their glucola test? I didn't get shaky after mine but my stomach kind of hurt and I didn't feel 100%. I drank my bottle really fast so maybe that's why I felt "off"? Anyone else have an experience like that?
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over? Going to a restaurant and eating dinner. I love going out to eat and that's something I definitely miss. And roaming around Target

GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over?
Being able to go places with my older daughter. Im a teacher so I have summers off and we normally have so much fun!
Baby is the size of a(n): as tall as a bottle of Honest Tea
Upcoming appointments: Blood work and GD testing next week, May 12th in office visit with new OB, May 27th US and perinatology
How are you feeling? Most days I'm feeling pretty good. A few times I've over done it on certain activities that made my back angry.
Raves/Rants: My work was very generous in paying for everyone's medical benefits for the month of April but I just got an email stating I will have to pay both mine and my work's portion for May. Rave: the weather has been so nice here lately. I've been enjoying going for walks and just sitting outside in the sunshine.
Questions:
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over? I'm actually looking forward to going back to work. As a hairstylist I've had a lot of the same clients for years and I really miss catching up with them. I'm really hoping that everything will settle down so I can go back to work for a little bit before the baby is born. None of my clients know I'm pregnant, so they'll be a little surprised when I come back with a nice big baby bump.
Upcoming appointments: VBAC clinic at the beginning of May.
How are you feeling? I hurt my back on Friday so It's taken
a while for it to get better, but I'm getting there now. I’ve been doing some
stretches, lite walking and having warm baths and it's slowly getting there.
Does anyone else feel like having minor ailments in pregnancy is like medically
being in the middle ages, as you can't take any of the effective medications.
It's probably just me, my parents are both pharmacists so I grew up in a house
where if you had any aliment my Dad would immediately find you some medication
for it.
Raves/Rants: Raves: The weather has been so lovely, DS got
to enjoy the paddling pool outside the other day. Rants: I'm just really
annoyed with myself that I've hurt myself! I like to try and stay active but obviously
if I'm injured I can't. I broke a toe in my last pregnancy, and it meant I
couldn't do much exercise for about 6w and I was hoping not to end up out of
action this time around.
GTKY: I'm looking
forward to being able to share this pregnancy with my friends and family, show
off my bump and do all the things I wanted to do before having two children to
look after. I'm also looking forward to DS being able to play with other children
again, he desperately wants to play with any children he sees when were out for
a walk.
Upcoming appointments: US at the end of month and May 7.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. My back gets Really sore around 8pm, like clockwork. Just in the middle of my back. Also for some reason I’ve been getting migraines again, 4 days in a row.
I experienced BH last night for the first time. I was so close to timing it because it happened quite a few time’s 😖.
That was uncomfortable.
Raves/Rants: Rant. I have been failing miserably at trying to get a good workout routine going. Better late then never, right? Rave: I ordered a bunch of nursery items today which made me feel pretty good. Another Rant: I can’t buy paint to paint the nursery 😖😭
Questions:
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over?
1st Seeing my family. I miss them so much. I get teared up just thinking about it.
Upcoming appointments: I had my first televisit today! I had the option to go in, but since I went in for an unscheduled visit last week and got to see him I was fine just doing a remote visit today. I really like my provider and it was good to connect with her. My next appointment will be at 5/14 and I'll need to go in so I can do the glucose test.
How are you feeling? Physically pretty good, though I have been dealing with some insomnia and weird dreams the past few nights. Mentally it's been a little bit of a tough week. Just missing all the things from the before time and feeling a little anxious about not being able to make more progress on my to-do list for the baby.
Raves/Rants: Rant: I've been feeling a bit stressed about work. I am part of a small in-house event planning team for a large organization and as you can imagine we've cancelled all events for the foreseeable future. The org has been really great in how they are supporting staff through this time and there doesn't seem to be any indication that I should be worried about my job, but it's still a little hard to feel settled when all of our work has dried up (and during what is normally our busiest season). I volunteered to help work on a Covid-related project starting next week though, so hopefully that will help fill my days and leave less time to worry about things. Rave: A few bright spots in all of this! I'm not sure if I mentioned it yet, but my yoga ball/birth ball came a few weeks ago and I love it... it's definitely helped with my posture. I also had a friend loan me their Nintendo Switch so I'm going to start playing Animal Crossing this week. My yoga studio started offering weekly online prenatal classes and they leave time for sharing and connecting at the end of each class... I had really missed the classes so I'm excited to have them back in my life. I have 6.5 weeks of vacation to take between now and when I have the baby so with all of my work anxiety I decided to take today and tomorrow off to try to relax and hit the reset button. Looking forward to lounging on the couch, reading, and taking walks.
Questions:
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over? So many of the same things as all of you! Hugs! (I live alone and haven't had a hug in SO long). Prenatal massage and a mani/pedi. Walking to my local coffee shop and sitting outside on their patio. Aimlessly wandering the aisles of Target. Outdoor concerts. Swimming at a local pool and nearby lake.
Upcoming appointments: I’m supposed to do my glucose tolerance test at 24 weeks and have an appt that day, but my MD won’t be in the office that week. They are rotating MDs on service each week to reduce the risk of all of them getting COVID-19 at once. Normally I’d just see someone else in his office, but I’m planning to switch delivery hospitals and subsequently OBs and I want to tell him in person.
How are you feeling? Headaches at least once a week and sciatica on my right side 🙁 I’m trying to do the exercises my PT prescribed last pregnancy but I’m not doing them as often as I should be.
Raves/Rants: my 4 year old is depressed about the quarantine. She tearfully tells me everyday how much she misses her school friends and “when will things open?”. I feel like she is the most isolated because at least my husband and I have work calls and go to the grocery store. She doesn’t get to interact with anyone else.
Questions: not right now
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over? My daughter getting to go back to school and her sweet sparkly personality returning.
EDD/weeks+days: August 20th/22 weeks today Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Green! Baby is the size of a(n): Coconut Upcoming appointments: I just had my AS last week, so I don't have another appointment until May 6th. I'm not sure if this will be over the phone or in person. As much as I like the idea of avoiding the hospital setting, I have not been seen (in person- two phone check ins since then) by my doctor since February, so I hope to have some time with her. How are you feeling?: I've been dealing with heartburn and insomnia similar to a lot of other moms on here. I was taking Tums for the heartburn, but that wasn't doing anything, so I stepped it up to Pepcid AC, and while my heartburn did wake me up last night, it definitely didn't feel as severe. Raves/Rants: I'm a first time mom, and I absolutely love seeing how my bump is developing. I feel like I've popped just in the last couple weeks, and so that's been super exciting. On that same token, though, as everyone else is experience, it does feel pretty isolating that I can't share this experience with others and celebrate the pregnancy in the way I'd imagine. I did tell my students over our video conferencing last week, and they were very sweet and excited, so that was fun. Questions: I'm going to look back on our product spotlight on cribs and sleeping surfaces to see if this question was answered, but I am interested to know what some of the deciding factors were for determining whether you would room-share for the first 6 months-year or start out in the crib/nursery. My husband and I are beginning to have those conversations, and I was curious how this looked for others. GTKY: I'm most looking forward to (and hopeful about) being able to visit my grandma. She's 94, and this is her first great-grandchild, but she lives in an assisted living residence that has (obvious) restrictions on visitors. While she's in good spirits, her health is declining, so I'm just really hopeful that there will be a way for me to see her sometime soon.
@whl1013 we used a basinet and room shared for the first 3 months. I switched to the crib at that time because I was returning to work and I wanted to do the transition prior because I was dreading it. I was too grateful that we did it afterwards because I slept better and it was nice to have adult time at the end of long days. I think this decision is really different for everyone! There is no wrong time to transition!
ETA: we chose to room share at first because I wanted to basically watch her while she slept.....healthy? I don't know? But it gave me peace. And they are up so often at that age and I was nursing so it was easy to just pop her on the boob every hour or two and pop her back in without having to get out of bed!
@whl1013 We room shared for the first 6 or 7 months (I think, timelines start to get fuzzy after a while!) because some studies show it reduces the chance of SIDS. I haven't looked into the research on this in a long time and as with many things surrounding SIDS, so much is unknown. But I sort of presented it to DH as "this is what we must do as long as we can stand it" and we never looked back. We definitely all slept better once the baby moved out, but unfortunately I suspect less restful sleep is part of what makes room sharing beneficial from a safety perspective.
@rivercitynik WHY have I not looked into online prenatal yoga before now?? I wasn't doing it beforehand because (i) high cost and (ii) inconvenient schedules, but both of these things have now improved so much!
Thank you @maelove and @emiliadkay for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it. It’s always helpful hearing how other couples navigated that. My husband is pushing to start out in the crib in the nursery (the nursery is actually an annex off our master, so it’s really not in a totally different space), but I’m leaning towards staring off in a bassinet closer to our bed. I have some convincing to do to get my husband on board
@rivercitynik and @emiliadkay, I’ve been using the Down Dog app for prenatal yoga classes. I think someone else mentioned this on another board, but I’ve really enjoyed the classes so far — and it’s free!
I’m a FTM so I have no actual experience, but absolutely everything I’ve read has said it’s safer for baby to room share for the first six months, so we didn’t even think twice about at least attempting to do so. We’re going to set up the crib at the foot of our very high bed, because it’s not a huge bedroom anyway, so I can just crawl down there and get him whenever. Maybe I should just plan on sleeping down there. 😄
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: We're still having a boy, we got to see boy parts on the A/S
Baby is the size of a(n): Banana
Upcoming appointments: May 8 for 24 week appointment and May 12 for fetal echo.
How are you feeling? Tired, uncomfortable, amazed at the process of growing a baby. I thought pregnancy would be more glamerous though.
Raves/Rants: At my A/S last week we got diagnosed with persistent right umbilical vein, now we have more appointments to make sure everything is ok. I hope all will be well, the rest of the A/S checked out normal on the report.
Got to see baby's face and guess what he'll look like when he's born, his little feet were super cute and I wish I had asked for a picture of that.
None of my regular clothes are fitting anymore so I guess it's time to invest in some more maternity stuff (right now I have 1 pants and 2 tops).
Questions: is it normal to feel fetal movement some days and not others? When does it become a regular thing?S it's really obvious that it's the baby moving and other times I can't really feel him.
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over?
Seeing my parents, going to the waterfront/beach, not being worried every time I leave the house.
@whl1013 I would plan to have some sort of safe sleeping container in your room whether or not you intend to room share. At the very least, you will use it for naps. And as much as you try to plan, the baby will often dictate what you do. For example, if your baby wants to cluster feed all night you are going to want it in your room. But if it’s a loud sleeper, you may want to move it to it’s own room sooner.
Due Aug. 1, team green. Next appointment at the end of the month for the GD test.
How are you feeling? Fine.
Rant and rave: H went to work today. Which it's good that he has work, including a little more than he thought he would, but annoyed that he can't be home with us. He's been working at least every other Saturday. Make hay while the sun shines.
GTKY: What are you most looking forward to when quarantine is over? Just doing things. And people not being judgy for taking my kids to the store.
@older1sttime_mom2b, I think it does vary. From the first time I felt real, for certain movements around 18ish weeks, I've felt it daily. But I've also felt, at least for those first few weeks of movement, that his baby moved more than my others did.
@whl1013, I didn't want to go anywhere and get them when they woke up in the middle of the night. That was the deciding factor. And when #2 was born, we didn't have another room to put them in. Now with this baby, the other bedrooms are on a different floor from us. No way I want to do stairs as well while getting them! Once they started being easily disturbed by us, that's when we moved them to their own room. I have thankfully had early sleeping-through-the-nighters, so that came after they started sleeping through.

Baby is the size weight of a(n): NBA basketball

How are you feeling?
I’m slowing down which isn’t good this early. I’ve started doing some down dog yoga since it’s free for a bit and a I really like it.
Raves/Rants:
raves: free prenatal yoga app (for a bit)

EDD/weeks+days: 22+6

Baby is the size of a(n): Coconut
Upcoming appointments: VBAC clinic at the beginning of May.
How are you feeling? I hurt my back on Friday so It's taken a while for it to get better, but I'm getting there now. I’ve been doing some stretches, lite walking and having warm baths and it's slowly getting there. Does anyone else feel like having minor ailments in pregnancy is like medically being in the middle ages, as you can't take any of the effective medications. It's probably just me, my parents are both pharmacists so I grew up in a house where if you had any aliment my Dad would immediately find you some medication for it.
Raves/Rants: Raves: The weather has been so lovely, DS got to enjoy the paddling pool outside the other day. Rants: I'm just really annoyed with myself that I've hurt myself! I like to try and stay active but obviously if I'm injured I can't. I broke a toe in my last pregnancy, and it meant I couldn't do much exercise for about 6w and I was hoping not to end up out of action this time around.
GTKY: I'm looking forward to being able to share this pregnancy with my friends and family, show off my bump and do all the things I wanted to do before having two children to look after. I'm also looking forward to DS being able to play with other children again, he desperately wants to play with any children he sees when were out for a walk.

Baby is the size of a(n): Cantaloupe
2nd - painting the entire house. (fx)

Baby is the size of a(n): Cantaloupe

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Green!

Upcoming appointments: I just had my AS last week, so I don't have another appointment until May 6th.
ETA: we chose to room share at first because I wanted to basically watch her while she slept.....healthy? I don't know? But it gave me peace. And they are up so often at that age and I was nursing so it was easy to just pop her on the boob every hour or two and pop her back in without having to get out of bed!
@rivercitynik WHY have I not looked into online prenatal yoga before now?? I wasn't doing it beforehand because (i) high cost and (ii) inconvenient schedules, but both of these things have now improved so much!
@rivercitynik and @emiliadkay, I’ve been using the Down Dog app for prenatal yoga classes. I think someone else mentioned this on another board, but I’ve really enjoyed the classes so far — and it’s free!
