I'm from Long Island NY, I live on Long Island NY No plans on leaving until I retire (21 years to go!). I do want to encourage my kids to leave since it's so hard to "make it" here. If they leave I will follow when I can (and probably bring my Mom with me if she's still here).
I live in St. Louis, Missouri (well, the outskirt suburbs). I was born and raised in the town I live in now - about a 10 minute drive from my parents. My husband and I lived on Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA for 4 years when he was enlisted in the Marine Corps. We moved back here when he got out of the military since we were both from here and this is where our families lived. We're really close with my family but his mom has passed away and his dad is in a nursing home now.
We would probably move if it weren't for my parents being here.

We live in Grand Blanc, MI, and I grew up in Ann Arbor, MI. We will likely move for my work some time during this pregnancy, so that is a little daunting. I just want a new job before I start to show. Although one positive of COVID-19, is video interviewing.

@willashbaby yeah we are probably the only people that would move back to NJ lol but I just miss my family too much! I was hopeful they would all slowly migrate down here but 9 years and no luck. There’s so many transplants down here though. I’m sure your friend will love it!
@cmj689. We just moved from NC to GA last year. I am originally from VA, so a ways from home as well. Both our families are still up there. We just bought a house a few weeks ago, so I guess we are sticking around for a bit.
@cmj689 her family IS down there so it was her going back home basically. She had come to Jersey to work and ended up getting married and having kids. She wanted to leave to get a better quality of life (college professor) and did nationwide searches for well over a year before landing a job in GA that pays the SAME as her Jersey job did. I think they went from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house for LESS, lol!
Born and raised in beautiful desert of Southern AZ. Our families are mostly here, and I love the heat and loathe the cold, so this is where we shall stay!
I'm in Tampa, FL (born and raised and still here) - left for a while to live in NYC and then inevitably came back to FL to be closer to family. Miss the city all of the time (except for maybe not really during this crisis), but happy to have more space down here to add a tiny human to our family!
I was born in Indiana, grew up in Georgia, then lived in Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts. I'm currently living in Portland, Maine and absolutely love it here (despite the winters!).
I live in a suburb a little north of Boston, MA! I was born in Vermont, raised in Massachusetts, went to college in Missouri, grad school in Kentucky, and now I'm back home!
@luckypenny11 I grew up in Sanford/Springvale but I've also lived in Lebanon, Wells, and North Berwick. My husband is from Kennebunk, right down the road, but we actually met here in Vermont on Match.com Small world. Portland is a cool city- love all the seafood!
We moved all over growing up (My dad worked for the military) so I am not really "from" anywhere. My family is from VT, so I moved here to be closer to them, and my parents followed me when they retired!
From Philadelphia, lived in VA for college and now have been in DC for more than 10 years (yikes). Family's kind of scattered, but my in-laws are relatively close which is nice.
Jealous of all of you in BC (or the Pacific NW in general), I absolutely love it up there
@dobiemom11 Mary Washington, it's much smaller (and less-known) than VT I visited a friend's brother at Tech years ago, it's such a pretty drive to get down there!
@akoros. I actually looked at Mary Washington. My dad thought it was so cool that the day we toured, there were people climbing and rappelling out of the trees. I ended up at VT since they had a Biochem degree and Mary Washington made you pick between Bio and Chem. Didn't get a Biochem degree, but I do love my Hokies!
@knottie041fd92fd62a2223 What part of Minnesota do you live in? I’m Canadian but when I was much younger, I lived in Minnesota for a little while. I lived in Hibbing.
