Scleritis or eye issues with steroid drops

Hi,  anyone been diagnosed with Scleritis or severe eye problems that require heavy dosage of steroid drops? My gyno says “ok” to everything. The drugs prescribed has no testing on pregnant women.

Drugs are Durezol and Ilevro. My eye surgeons are deeply concerned, my gyno just says it’s fine.

I am so scared.

Ask your pharmacist. Also, there is very little testing on pregnant women, especially for such specific drugs. If you’re still concerned get a second opinion from another OB GYN.

Your eye surgeons are concerned of the Scleritis and the possibility of going blind, or because of the med?

If they are concerned about the meds, then why would they prescribe it knowing you are pregnant, if there are other options? You Google Durezol and Llevro and it's a category C med. Which means it should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks.

  • I don’t know anything about those drugs specifically but when I was asking my OB and pharmacist why my primary doctor ok’ed a category C drug they both explained that there are virtually no category A’s, there are a few category B’s, and then most drugs fall into category C where you should take it only if you need it because there isn’t enough testing done on pregnant women for most drugs. If your eye doctors are saying you need this and your OB says it’s ok then take it, if you’re not sure if you need the medication then seek a second opinion.
