I have three this week. Can I have three? Well I’m going to!
1. I’m really sad that my husband is almost freaked out by the babies moving. I totally thought it was going to be the other way where he was almost obnoxious touching my belly all the time, but he avoids it at all costs unless I make it. Then he freaks out every time they move. Not sure why it bugs me, but it does. 2. I don’t want anyone’s hand me downs. Not your strollers, not your pack and plays, not your bassinets, not your clothes, and definitely not anything related to breast feeding. Part of the reason is that by the time these babies come, we will have been waiting 7 years since we decided to start trying. We went through IVF, and damnit, I just want to pick out exactly what I want and have the best of the best and nothing less for them. But in reality I’ve never been able to take second hand stuff even for myself. I’m kind of a germaphobe, but I also just like new things. I realize that can make me sound snotty and stuck up, but I’m ok with it. I just work extra hard to make sure I can afford to buy new things.
and pregnancy brain already made me forget the third one 🤣
1. my husband is exactly the same and I find it a little disappointing 2. I am ok with some hand me downs, but my mom (with all good intentions) mentioned that something was on sale the other day at Target and she didn't know how different it was from that item on my registry and maybe it makes me a little snot, but I basically shut her down and explained there are lots of differences and I spent a lot of time researching said item and there's are reasons I picked the specific brand/item that is on my registry. Some things I want what I want too. +1 for being a germaphobe, it's more me being paranoid of bedbugs due to a past incident with some second hand furniture (and working in a hotel)
@bender29 men are weird because sometimes my husband is like “whoa it’s moving!” And then other times I swear he forgets that I’m pregnant 😂 Also, you go buy anything and everything that you want!
My FFFC’s: 1. My work blocked TB again so I’m back to only mobile 2. I just ate a piece of homemade cheesecake from a coworker as my “lunch appetizer”
@bender29 I'm not into hand me downs either. Especially since the stuff I like is not inexpensive. No shame at all in Walmart shopping for those who it works for, but that's not me. And I certainly don't want it used.
Along these lines: I have no guilt in donating baby/kid clothes with the tags still on them, if it's stuff I don't like. My MIL has probably spent a small fortune dressing other people's kids at this point, and IDGAF. People should include receipts if they don't want their gifts donated. 🤷♀️
I’m in the category of let me buy all the things for the baby unless you’re going to buy off my specific list. I barely got to buy anything for DS1 because he was the first grandchild and our parents overwhelmed us. DS2 has always had hand me downs. Neither of them has really been dressed to my taste and I’m not doing that this round. I also know what I like/hate for baby stuff. Hence why we’re starting over even though she’s the last. I’m sick of stuff that doesn’t work the way I want it to.
Also eating crappy these days because between the nausea and stupid heartburn, I eat what I can. Ate 4 ice cream cones for dinner last night. Literally don’t care.
@ruby696 I end up donating or selling on FB marketplace and bunch of brand new Christmas gifts every year too. After 16 year my in-laws still haven’t figured me out yet 😬
@rox7777 two nights ago I ate ice cream for dinner too!
Food has been hard for me and this past week I feel like I have been spending far too much on food because every meal is an impulse purchase based on what I think I can actually stomach eating.
My FFFC- I love hand-me-downs. If I'm lucky, I pick out one outfit per size at 9 months and up, but we're too broke to buy stuff generally, unless it's Walmart or goodwill. Not ashamed, it's just the truth.
For car seats and strollers though we save up, use generous family gifts, and definitely research heavily and get what of want, though our last car seat didn't get the color I wanted, because stupid Amazon sale was $50 or more less for gray.Gray is fine.
I love people that donate brand new stuff. If anyone gets a whole bunch of clothes they don't want, I'd happily pay usps ground shipping for a soft envelope full of clothes, lol.

I don't mind hand me downs, as long as they're nice. When people send holey, stained, ripped etc stuff it irks me. I'm not a donation station. I recently went through all of DS's clothes and picked out a few pieces that were in good condition and looked like something my brother and SIL would like for their baby boy, instead of dumping 6 garbage bags full of crap on their front porch, that all went to goodwill.
I also love hand me downs, especially for clothes! I shopped garage sales and FB marketplace for DD, most of her clothes have been second hand. My cousin just brought me 2 bins of boys hand me down clothes. We have decided that all shoes will be/have been new though. I also do not do second hand car seats. I've been giving SIL all of DD's hand me downs since their DD is 1 year younger.
My FFFC is that yesterday I had my 3 hour glucose test. I had to take a half day of vacation and planned on working the second half of the day. I did warn my boss ahead of time that I felt really terrible all day the last time I did this test. So I called out "sick" the rest of the day, which I didn't have to use any time for. While I did go home and rest because I didn't feel great, I really was fine enough to go back to work.
I forgot mine earlier, but just remembered. MIL brought over a bag of lindor truffles last night. DH and I each had a few and I took the rest to work with me. Our daughter has a sweet tooth! Lol
On the subject of hand me downs: DS2 for now gets all of DS1’s hand me downs. It’s practical. They’re only a size apart and nothing lasts more than 6 months before it’s outgrown. However, I do buy him new stuff to mix in regularly. As someone that wore hand me downs until I moved out I can say that I absolutely detest them. If the kids start to complain about them, I’ll buy them new stuff.
Maybe I’m just super picky too. I’ve gotten to the age where I like what I like and want what I want. I can’t always go drop money right this second but I save, shop sales and buy a few things at a time to have what I want. We bought everything for baby over the last few months on our own while paying a huge delivery bill too. It was important that I love everything and have the nursery I wanted, so we made it happen.
My sister works at a women's shelter, so when she came up to visit a couple of weeks ago, I sent her home with a kitchen trash bag filled with clothes with the tags still on them that she had given to me and DS for Christmas. I get to get rid of the stuff I don't like and they go to someone who really needs them. Double win!

@shamrocandroll yes! I’ve made a few donations of my clothes, some with tags and some barely worn, to a local women’s shelter. I prefer doing that over goodwill!
Hand me downs from certain people I do but I can't just get random things from people, they go to Goodwill. DF has a hard time with this because he grew up mainly in hand me downs from everyone and I just can't do it. DS wears all new stuff really and DS2 will as well. I mean there are somethings i have kept that DS2 can wear like under armour and nike sweats and shirts etc. but when things get stained or holes I get rid of them. Also I am weird about socks for some reason and they will not share those ever.
My FFFC we were having a "meeting" but really it was a chance for all of our team to go to a local bar and have a drink, well since I can't drink anyway, I decided to just go home and watch crappy TV and eat chocolate, there are some things I could have done to be ahead for next week but screw it.
My FFFC is DH has no idea that I participate in this board. He had no idea when I was on TTGP either. Not sure if he knew I was on this for DD's BMB either. He just asked if I was texting someone and I just responded "No". I guess next time it comes up I should say something before he thinks I'm cheating or something.
Lol @jrouge12 that's funny. I'm the opposite, I'm like "OMG so and so just got their bfp!" he goes, oh that's great. He couldn't care less, but he gets to hear about my bump family
I'm all about hand me downs that I can go through, select what I want and donate the rest without feeling bad. MIL likes to pick up clothes from God knows where clearly used, today she showed me an awful jacket that someone gave her sister to give to dd. She said it's a 3 but it will fit next winter... My kid is wearing 18 months still, and there's no way she's wearing that ugly jacket.
While I was visiting my sister, we sorted through a ton of baby clothes that she had saved for me from my nephews (11 and 29 months). I ended up buying and checking a duffle bag of 35 pounds of baby clothes to bring home (Total cost $75). It would have cost over $200 to ship it home 😳. These are not your typical hand me downs. It’s all high quality stuff, mostly organic cotton and it’s all pristine condition and gender neutral with a mostly white/black/grey color palette. Part of me is sad that I won’t pick out ALL the baby’s clothes, but this stuff is mostly just the basics starter pack and I think there will be plenty of filling in to do. Also so excited that not one item has any stupid sayings or ugly graphics. Plenty of prints and patterns, but nothing unattractive.
I'm late to the confessions but my FFFC is that I get extremely excited when I get the notification that someone bought a gift from the registry. Like "makes my day" excited. I can't help but be materialistic. Once the shower is over, I can start nesting and that's the real reason I am so excited.
@drkoyya I check my registries almost daily to see if anything was purchased. Mostly because I’m hoping people will get us the expensive items so we don’t have to buy them
Also my belated and true FFFC is that I have 3 sisters and I spent Friday with 2 of them in CA and none of us told the 3rd that we were going to be together and none of us want her to know because she is a toxic person and none of us really wants to have a relationship with her. I had a wonderful time with my 2 sisters who are awesome and I feel 0% guilty about anything. I’m only bummed that I can’t share any pictures of the fun stuff we did together.
@sunshinesea22 Good for you guys, keeping the toxic crap out. My family has basically cut off two of my cousins (who are like siblings to me, our moms are sisters and very very close, also still young), because of toxic behavior and terrible choices. We've made it clear that if ever they want help getting their lives turned around, we're here for them 100%, but they have to be ready, and right now they're convinced everyone is just out to get them. What can you do?
