Unexplained Vaginal Bleeding

Morning Ladies,
I’m 23 weeks along, and have been having some vaginal bleeding since week 21. I’ve been in & out of Labor & Delivery. As a result, my Perinatologist sees me every two weeks to keep a close eye. Every time I go to the hospital, I’m sent home because everything is closed shut so I’m incredibly thankful for that. However, there is absolutely no medical explanation as to why this is happening. It’s the most bizarre thing EVER! I’ve been on bed rest for two weeks now even though my OB thinks it’s unnecessary. He has not been very supportive or empathetic throughout this entire process. He keeps telling me not to worry; however, how can I ignore the fact that I’m spotting when I’ve suffered recurrent miscarriages. Thankfully, I have one son who is 4 years of age. Same thing happened with my pregnancy with him around the same time, but not nearly half of excessive. I’m wondering if anyone out there is going through the same thing? Or, has gone through it?

Re: Unexplained Vaginal Bleeding

  • @katrod22 I'm sorry to hear this. I had unexplained bleeding/spotting basically from my positive beta until 11 weeks. I was seeing an RE (IVF) and had scans at 5, 7, 9, and 10 weeks, And then with the OB at 11 onward. And everytime I'd have bleeding they'd check and everything would be fine. No known cause has been found. And then it just stopped. I have RPL too so I totally get how unnerving it can be to be bleeding during pregnancy. Feel free to join us on the PGAL(pregnant after loss) thread. It's not super active, pretty much just two of us. But it's a good spot for some PGAL support. I hope the bleeding stops for you soon.

  • @hanshotfirst77 Thank you so much for your support! I’m going to be admitted for overnight observation. Before this pregnancy, my husband & I met with a fertility specialist but all tests came back ok. There isn’t a real known cause for the miscarriages. I’m hopeful this stops soon so that I can freely enjoy this lil miracle. The only possible explanation would be that I have a low lying placenta but it’s been moving up, and I haven’t been diagnosed with placenta previa. Thank you, again. Prayers for the both of us.

  • @katrod22 Your welcome! I'm glad your medical team is taking such good care of you guys. For what it's worth, my miscarriages are also unexplained. My most recent one, I even had the tissue tested and it all came back normal. It sucks. Praying for you as well!

  • @katrod22 Did they see any SCH or had you had anything inserted vaginally? With my second I had spotting from sex, every pelvic exam (had to check for yeast, etc a couple times), and such.

  • @pourmeanothermocktailI was diagnosed with Friable Cervical Ectropion & BV. It’s two very different things. Doc believes that they were both exacerbating one another. You can’t detect either one with a transvaginal ultrasound since I got so many to try & figure out the problem. My cervix was swabbed & the samples were sent to the lab at the hospital so we got the results within minutes. As a result of the BV, I was prescribed Flagyl- antibiotic. I was told to take it very easy still. Crossing my fingers this does the trick🤞🏼🙏🏼
