Not sure what to think any similar stories

Lmp was Jan.8.2020. Started having positives since Feb.7.2020.  Had blood work done for hcg on Saturday night going into early Sunday Feb.15-16th due to bleeding all day enough to have to wear a pad all day and it would be just about full. But hcg was 33 and that was my first hcg test. Cervix was closed. Ultrasound nothing. today hcg went up to 48. Bleeding slowing down also. Have to test again Wednesday or Thursday. I'm not sure what to think or expect but expecting the worse but hoping for the best. But wondering about anyone with similar stories?

Re: Not sure what to think any similar stories

  • When you say "ultrasound nothing" does that mean there was no increased blood flow, presence of a yolk sac or fetal pole? At just under 6 weeks, it could be difficult to detect this early, though. If there was nothing present at the time of your ultrasound, this could mean you're experiencing an ectopic pregnancy (couldn't find the baby inside your uterus), so I would definitely follow-up with your doctor because this could be potentially life-threatening if left untreated. When you were bleeding on Saturday, were you experiencing any cramping or abdominal pain? Fever? Chills?

Also, HCG is supposed to double every 48(ish) hours, so yours yesterday should have risen to around 60-65, but that doesn't mean you're 100% out. You could just have a slow rise.

  • that's what was said on the ultrasound and no cramping or other symptoms at all just the bleeding, still am but has gotten somewhat lighter...
  • *And 48 hcg was taken on feb. 17th yesterday morning*
  • I’m sorry, it sounds like the bleeding you experienced was probably a chemical pregnancy. A 7 mm endometrium is thin for a pregnant uterus, it’s typically 15 mm or more in early pregnancy.
Definitely keep following up with your OB. If your HCG keeps rising and there’s nothing in the uterus, it would be very suspicious for ectopic like PP said.

    sorry you’re dealing with this
