It's Family Day here in Ontario so we're using it to get some apartment baby prep done that has been nagging at me but that I couldn't do alone. Hoping we can get through all or at least most of it!
@literatureandink Yep, I was one of the people who had a shower this weeken! I did have one on Sunday, and it was so much fun but exhausting. (I spent yesterday recovering from it TBH) They provided so much yummy food for the 20 or so people that ended up coming, and because it was at our church, we had several people who couldn't stay for the whole thing but dropped off a present anyway so I had so many gifts to open. (Not complaining about that! ) My mom and baby sister even drove down the 3 hours Sunday morning to be there and then left that afternoon just so they could be there with me! My four friends that ended up throwing the shower made sure several of my cravings were represented, so I ate way too much. The whole group of ladies read Scripture and prayed for me and my baby, and it made me cry to see how loved my baby girl is already.
As for gifts, I definitely got a few more boxes of diapers and a whole bunch of wipes and several things I wanted on my registry. I think my favorite non-registry item I got was a tiny hand crocheted pizza blanket (pizza is one of my constant cravings). I tried to post a picture, but I can't seem to get it to properly attach. Definitely got lots of clothes, especially in the 6 month size range, though someone did give me a preemie-sized set of onesies. (Ellie is already 3 pounds and doesn't seem like she has any intention of budging any time soon.) My mom is throwing me a small extended family only shower in March up in Delaware, so I'm looking forward to getting away with the hubby and enjoying that in a few weeks too! I washed a load of baby clothes this weekend, and that definitely made things feel real. Time to really kick the nursery and baby prep into higher gear.
Shameless ask: anyone interested in trying Stitchfix? I got an offer for $50 for me and $50 for a friend with my referral code and I'll share it if anyone wants it?
My dad's 70th bday is just over 3 weeks from babies due date. He has had some crappy bdays the past few yrs so we decided he deserved a party (plus he threw my mom a surprise 70th) so I am helping my sister with the before hand stuff and we will do it at a restaurant, but I am a bit nervous for how I will feel 3 weeks post and with the baby and lots of people. I plan to babywear and keep him covered, and I usually recover pretty quick, plus all the attention will make my toddler happy. Let's hope this baby likes to be worn, bc my toddler did not.
*TW* All the people there will have known about Spencer and everything, so I am sure they will be excited to meet this new little boy but I expect the older crowd to unintentionally say things that might come across not great, so I'm nervous there*

Not too much planned this week - DH and I have been talking about buying a house but it's a little overwhelming to think about. We wouldn't do anything more than get pre-qualified before the end of the summer, but I'm so over renting this tiny little house we're in that has no storage, the smallest bathroom ever, and a backyard that I'd be afraid for my daughter to play in. There's just a lot to consider with that, but I really want to proceed in that direction.
@smallbutmighty77 I hope the party goes well and you are able to wear the baby and avoid too many unhappy comments. I can’t imagine how hard that is for you.
@smallbutmighty77 You just reminded me that my dad's 70th is also shortly after this baby is due to come! I better check with my mom about what the plan is. I hope everyone keeps the comments to themselves and you can enjoy yourself!
@sbalding88 My DH's nesting when we were pregnant with DD2 included the sudden need for us to buy a house so I know the feeling!
DH's pal who was due one month before us just had her baby boy early, at just shy of 35 weeks, this weekend. Luckily both are doing well, though he needs to be monitored in the NICU for a little while just to be safe. I am so excited for her, but it also freaked me right out about how much we have to do to get ready for baby! I am so grateful that my in-laws are buying us a crib but I hate not having that in my control (they haven't ordered one yet). I feel like my nesting is now in overdrive and I'm super anxious to get everything done. Realistically baby won't be born very early, if early at all, but seeing that wee little boyyo has got me nervous about it. He is awfully beautiful though
Also, I cannot shake my craving for prosciutto, which I'm not supposed to have. My request has been filed with DH for a full on charcuterie board as my first meal after baby is out. I want prosciutto and brie right now like my life depends on it.
@korthouse I keep telling DH I don't think this one is going to make his eviction date. I just keep feeling like he wants to show up sooner than that. I'm just hoping it's only a few days early if he does. I even got anxious about packing my bag sooner than I had planned.

@korthouse would prosciutto on something that would cook it a bit satisfy your craving? We get a pizza from Trader Joe's where your supposed to put the prosciutto on after you bake it but I throw it on before and it gets all crispy and delicious!
@smallbutmighty77 I hope the party goes well! @korthouse Why is it that the things we can't have are the things we want the most? I desperately want a Wawa Italian sub right now, and I'm very cranky that I can't have it. I suppose I could heat it all up, but that's not the way I want it. I hope the crispy prosciutto helps with that craving for now.
@Kathryn0903 my hospital has nothing cool like that! But we are in a birthing suite with a kitchenette so he WILL be making me cold cut sandwiches to bring with us!
@literatureandink you have a kitchenette?! That's so nice! We have an 24 hour Au Bon Pain and a Starbucks. My brother works for hospital doing HVAC and told us to never eat at the Au Bon Pain though.... we pretend he didn't tell us and still get stuff there.
Man, my hospital is lame. No 24-hour restaurants or even really restaurants. Just the little cafe. I’d have to send someone out for food if it’s after hours.
@korthouse I totally eat proscuitto while pregnant! I tend to figure that it's not really a deli meat, in that it's not processed, just cured (Not saying that's the right choice for everyone, of course) You could also put proscuitto on a pizza, to help with the craving!
I will say my hospital is awesome- no 24hr in our actual bldng but we are connected to like 5 other hospital bldngs and there are a few restaurants that stay open. Even though I get meals during my stay, I am sure I will make DH go get a smoothie at Protein Bar and my best friend works in one of the connected hospitals and always brings Stans doughnuts when she comes to meet baby. During the day DH can literally choose from 2 cafeterias and like 15 restaurants without leaving the indoors.
ETA: Also deli meat was all not to be eaten bc of possible Listeria issues, but with both pregnancies prior I've had recalls on lettuce and apples for that, no meat...where is the rule telling me not to eat those?
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
@smallbutmighty77 that's why doctor tells me if I want deli meat go nuts, just don't eat it from somewhere sketchy. She always points out the listeria recalls on ice cream and how she's not going to tell me not to eat ice cream.
@smallbutmighty77 Exactly! There's been so many recalls on greens/lettuce and berries, but no one is saying that pregnant women shouldn't have smoothies or salads!
I may be the UO here but I totally eat cold subs whenever I want during pregnancy. As others have said above, there's always listeria recalls on greens, peanut butter, last time I was pregnant hummus, etc. so I dont feel personally there's a bigger risk with lunch meat. I do only order it from places that have perfect health scores though. May not be right for some but I feel it's right for me. With my first, I followed all the rules and didn't even drink coffee or caffeine in general. With baby #3, most all rules (except things like alcohol and tobacco) are out the window. Girl's gotta eat!
Its national margarita day so of course my office is celebrating. Man do I want a margarita!!

@smallbutmighty77 a margarita sounds so refreshing!!! Last pregnancy I got a virgin one and it was so NOT worth it. This pregnancy I keep wanting a good Bloody Mary and when DH and I went out of town for a weekend I got a virgin one and it totally hit the spot.
We had our spa day mini moon today and it was everything I could have hoped for. Started off by taking our puppers for a good play in the park and our puppy got to practice being off leash for a bit which she LOVED. At the spa we had a couple's massage in a cozy room with a fireplace, I got to swim in a pool and not feel like a giant heavy egg lady and also let my legs sit in the hot tub (not whole body as I don't want to boil baby!), we had an amazing lunch and we got pedicures including a hot stone foot/calf massage and DH went all the way by getting blue polish. We were also really chatty and silly with all our service providers so we wee laughing all day. When we got home and had walked pups again we had a giant nap with all our furbabies. Such a great day and feeling like it was the perfect check-in with each other before baby takes over for a while
@mwill291 I had one Wawa Italian hoagie when I was early in my second trimester because I wanted it so badly, and I had them toast the whole thing, though I'm not sure it officially got hot enough. And it was fine - didn't get sick or anything. It was okay toasted - but not exactly what I was craving - and I am too nervous to try it cold, even though it's probably fine.
@korthouse That sounds like such an amazing day! I can't seem to convince my DH to go get a pedicure with me, even though I think he might enjoy it and his calloused feet certainly would. lol. I'm definitely going to get myself a pedicure once it gets warmer; for now, I am settling for DH as I can't seem to cut all my toe nails anymore thanks to this growing belly. He's got a steady hand so he's actually pretty good at it.
@Kathryn0903 I just put this on the registry post too!!
