Fit Friday 2/7

How are you feeling this week?

What are you doing to stay active?

How did you do last week?

Any goals for next week?

GTKY: Did you play any sports growing up? If not, what was your “thing” in high school (e.g., debate, chess, Model UN)?

Re: Fit Friday 2/7

  • How are you feeling this week?  Much better than last week.  Finally able to eat more veggies - they had been soooo not appealing.

What are you doing to stay active?  Trying to hit the treadmill, but I only made it once last weekend.  It's just so hard after I get home from work.  I'm starving and exhausted after my hour commute.

How did you do last week?  Only made the treadmill once.  But I did meal prep and had salads for lunch and overnight oats for breakfast.  I even made turkey tacos for dinner one night (and ate three of them)... hubs had been doing all the cooking.

Any goals for next week?  Treadmill and would like to make it to prenatal yoga on the weekend.  This weekend is out as we are going house hunting tomorrow.

GTKY: Did you play any sports growing up? If not, what was your “thing” in high school (e.g., debate, chess, Model UN)?  I was a cheerleader - competitive, football, and basketball.  Competitive was my favorite... although the parties after the HS football games were fun!  Growing up I tried all sports though... did softball a few years and volleyball too but wasn't very good.  Was in the play one year as a hot box chickie in Guys and Dolls - that was cool!

  • How are you feeling this week? : Nausea goes up... nausea goes down... then up... then down... today was an up day.  :#

What are you doing to stay active? : I'm still managing to pound out 9 miles at least 4 days a week on the stationary bike... Sometimes I have to take pee breaks.. today I had to take an unexpected puke break.. but I'm chugging along.

How did you do last week? : Wednesdays have been cursed for me.. for whatever reason for the last 3 I've had huge migraines... I'd really like to be biking 5 days a week but I refuse to alter my weekend routines at this point to squeeze in a make up day for a headache, I know it's petty but on the weekends, I rest.

Any goals for next week? : To not get a headache on Wednesday, and to be the person who takes my kid to karate class all week. Hubby has been pulling a lot of extra shifts as far as housework and child care... I want to step it up.

GTKY: Did you play any sports growing up? If not, what was your “thing” in high school (e.g., debate, chess, Model UN)?: I was a backstage kid... did all the painting, the hammering.. the set building. All the fun of the drama kids but none of the drama of having to actually act.

  • How are you feeling this week? It’s been rough. A stomach bug has been kicking my whole family’s butt.

What are you doing to stay active? Running 3-4x/wk and HIIT 1-2x/wk

How did you do last week? Made it to Bootcamp/HIIT today and was able to get 3 lighter runs in (shorter mileage than usual) while I recovered/nursed my family back to health. I have a 12 mile run with my run group tomorrow. Nervous because I feel like my pace has really really taken a hit at this point.

Any goals for next week? Get back on track with my usual mileage and HIIT.

GTKY: Did you play any sports growing up? If not, what was your “thing” in high school (e.g., debate, chess, Model UN)?

I ran in middle school and played lacrosse and did weightlifting in high school.

@ziggymama06 When I worked full time during my first pregnancy I only worked out on my days off. There was no way I’d have the energy to do it when I got him. I feel you on that.

@redbaramid Puke break? As in you continued after? You morning sickness mommas still out here working out are the real MVPs.
  • @tyrion_ I can't stop working out.. it's how I'm paying for all the extra ice cream I've been craving.. lol. Also despite the occasional puke break.. I always feel better for a while after even if I hate myself while I'm doing it.  I don't negotiate with terrorists.. and currently I consider this baby a terrorist for as long as they make me struggle with morning sickness.

Unrelated question for my fellow working out mommas: What are you doing when your usual work out pants are starting to feel really uncomfortable? I've got two pair that I love but the control top waistbands are not my jam.. you out there buying maternity gear or just rocking sweats?

  • I’m amazed at all of you staying active in spite of MS, exhaustion, migraines, and stomach bugs - even if it’s just once!

How are you feeling this week? So. Much. Better. My morning sickness is mostly gone and my energy level is way up. Even the bloating is better!

What are you doing to stay active? Running was making my pelvis feel like it was going to fall apart, so I’ve started doing the elliptical at the gym at work. I also started prenatal yoga on Sundays.

How did you do last week? Three sessions on the elliptical, yoga, and upper body strength training. I’ve also managed to eat vegetables again!

Any goals for next week? Stay active and get something healthier to snack on than the stuff I’ve been eating at work (they have free Chex Mix!)

GTKY: Did you play any sports growing up? If not, what was your “thing” in high school (e.g., debate, chess, Model UN)? I wasn’t sporty at all. I acted in theater.
  • How are you feeling this week? Much better. No nausea or yucky first tri stuff. Still a little bloated but other than that I feel good.

What are you doing to stay active? I'm doing the Every Mother program @gomillis recommended. I'm also working in prenatal yoga.

How did you do last week? Really well. I managed to do my recommended workout for each day.

Any goals for next week? Finish up the Embody Essentials portion and move on to the next piece as well as do more prenatal yoga. I LOVE yoga.

GTKY: Did you play any sports growing up?
Yes, I played soccer since I was 7. In high school I played 4 years worth of varsity, travel and indoor soccer. I ran cross country and played softball my freshman and sophomore years as well but ultimately soccer just took over all my time.

@RedBaramid I have high waisted workout pants that are not quite comfortable any more.  I think I'll buy a few pairs of maternity pants.  I'm not a fan of working out in sweatpants and plan to do yoga so they wouldn't really work great.
PS.  You are a warrior... I just can't even wrap my mind around your workout "breaks".
