@mercury94 I used to like the Samoas. But then a couple of years ago I had a Samoa cup cake and barfed shortly afterward so it ruined them for me. I guess I shouldn't say I don't like them, I just feel like there's a big hoopla around them and they're not that great, especially for the price.
@KFrob Agreed! They're overrated. All of them. And I'm a girl scout for life.
I don't like alcohol. Hard, wine, beer, none of it. And I think it's so annoying that all the maternity shirts assume I'm an alcoholic and can't go 10 months without drinking.
@kfrob I agree. I used to love the peanut butter ones covered with chocolate as a kid (when I was a girl scout) but then realized it's just better to buy a Reese's PB cup for way less money and more satisfaction.
I don't like chocolate and mint together. (Thin Mints, Andes Mints, Mint Chocolate Ice cream, you name it!)
gah! @mandarenee898 chocolate + mint is my thang! I recently ate an entire box of Andes at 8am in about 15 mins. I also count down the days until Starbucks has peppermint mochas back!
edit to add two things: 1 have you tried Trader Joes peanut butter cups? They're the best! and 2. I've been dying for one of those Reeses cups filled with the Reeses Pieces.
@KFrob What if you worded it differently? Grande mocha with a shot of peppermint? I bet the cashier just didn't have a button in the POS for that drink and couldn't figure it out.
@Kathryn0903 no peanut butter anything? So no Reese’s? And no makeup for you and @gingers19? I can go without makeup but I enjoy putting it on so I usually have some one when going out of the house (except for errands, I’ll go in pjs and and throw my un-brushed hair up in a ponytail). I have developed rosacea this pregnancy so makeup has been a friend.
@kfrob sorry to disappoint!!! Lol! I’ll have to try Trader Joe’s PB cups. I haven’t been there for a long time as we don’t have one close to our house and so we’d have to go out of our way to go. So.... laziness essentially. Or logic. Debatable!! 😂
I highly dislike beer. All beer. Ciders are different, I'm good there. Also team no makeup, which is fun bc my sister works remotely and puts on a full face daily! When she comes to visit her makeup bag is bigger than my entire toiletry bag.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
I quit wearing makeup when I was 6 months pregnant with DS. I have pulled it out for special occasions, but not often. I feel like I’ll go back to wearing makeup when things settle down, but that might be years, honestly.
@KFrob I gotta agree with you on the chocolate and mint together and could probably put away a ridiculous amount of Andes Mints if given the chance. And while I love Girl Scout cookies, I'm usually too cheap to buy any. I'll occasionally do it for my niece to help her out, but otherwise, I probably won't buy them.
@mercury94 Works for me - I'll eat your share of fish then. Except for 6 years of my life, I've lived right on the East Coast, and I've grown up eating fish, shellfish, and anything else you can get from the sea. I'm cheap so I don't eat it as often as I'd like, but I enjoy it so much when I do. My Midwestern husband has gotten on board with most of it, though the soft shell crab sandwiches freak him out a little bit.
@Kathryn0903 My love of peanut butter has dampened a bit in pregnancy. I am one of those weirdos pre-pregnancy who would eat a spoonful of peanut butter when the craving hit, but I haven't done that in awhile. But I regularly crave Reeses cups and love my PBJ sandwiches still. Weirdly, I can't eat peanuts at all though, makes me nauseated right now but peanut butter is fine if paired with something else. Also, while I do wear make up to work still, I find it exhausting and don't wear anything except mascara on my days off. And even when I do wear it to work, I'm wearing less of it. I can get away with it now because my skin has randomly cleared up in the last month, and I'm going to enjoy that while it lasts as my skin has been awful while TTC and the first few months of pregnancy.
@smallbutmighty77 I've never found a beer I liked. Until I was pregnant, my husband would have me try every different kind he bought, and still nope. I'm barely drank alcohol before I was pregnant; it had been a month since I'd had any before my BFP pregnancy test. It was a homemade mojito my sister made me. I've only found a handful of things that I actually like, and I think the only time I've REALLY missed drinking while pregnant is indulging in a warm mulled wine when it was really chilly outside lately.
My unpopular opinion: I would take a pie over cake any day.
@sbalding88 I currently live close to the s Gulf, so DH finds it really weird that I won’t eat fish. He loves it, but has a mild shellfish allergy, so he doesn’t eat seafood much. But, I grew up inland and the seafood several hours from the water just wasn’t good. I blame that for making me a fish hater. Depending on the pie, I’m with you, but I don’t like a lot of fruit pies. Chocolate cream pie, though. I’d eat that any day.
@mercury94 Lol. Fruit pies are my jam. I mean, I won't say no to a chocolate cream pie (or basically any pie), but my favorites are apple and key lime. My husband lived inland, though not terribly far from the Great Lakes so most of his seafood was fried. But I'm winning him over on the seafood front - him and his parents when they visit us.
Love makeup. For me it’s so much fun to pick different color schemes based on the occasion or outfit. When it’s just home time though, I don’t use it.
Hate fish and I grew up in New England.
Ricotta pie is my jam.
My unpopular opinion: I’m a home baker but (in general) I’m not into sweets. Most of the time I don’t even try what I bake. Pregnancy, however, has thrown this out of the window.
@jecies I had to google it too, but it sounds so good! I'm gonna have to try that now as pie plus any type of cheese sounds like my kind of deal.
@literatureandink Now that I have a decent oven, I've thought about exploring baking, particularly making my own bread. I'm not a huge sweets fan when I'm not pregnant, but bread is my weakness. Maybe I shouldn't become a baker as that might not help the post-pregnancy diet that much.
@jenabary I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this could happen. I think the last time I didn't work for 10 weeks was when we first moved to Virginia and I couldn't find a job for over 3 months. But I'll enjoy the daydream of a perfectly behaved baby content to let me bake bread and complete all my projects I'd like to get done before going back to work.
@jenabary@sbalding88 Hahahahaha! I laugh, because I've actually attempted it a few times (I do make bread regularly anyways, so it's not a delusion), and ended up running to do something with flour all over me and the dough drying out. Now I just make it when DH is around to run interference.
@Sailing_Mama I just remember when my mom was a SAHM and she would make homemade wheat bread, and I'd come home from school with the house smelling like warm, delicious bread. I've never attempted making it before, and I think I might try it sometime soon. Pregnant me is now craving homemade bread - so maybe I'll attempt it sooner than my maternity leave.

Fish is disgusting. Peanut butter is heavenly.

I had to google ricotta pie.
