Re: Group 3 (July 17-24) Check-in w/o 1/20

  • just wanted to say @knockupthestock - i'm sorry I never came back and responded to your ridiculous OB stuff going on last week - I can't believe they're treating you that way! I really hope you're able to find a new OB and an office that doesn't make you feel like you're a f*cking psycho for being worried after all you've gone through with IF.

    EDD/weeks+days: 7/17 14+3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: PINK!!!! yay!

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: peach / baby can now hear my voice! Lucky her....

    Upcoming appointments: not until 2/5

How are you feeling?: tired but just so happy that we can stop calling the baby an "it"!

Raves/Rants: my only rant is that I'm exhausted - I never ever sleep when my parents are in town because my mom is like the most cold blooded human ever so we have to crank the temperature up way higher than normal (we like the house fairly cold), so I just sweat all night. Plus DH snores when he drinks, which he does when we're entertaining my parents or like for the gender reveal Saturday, and I can't even go try and sleep on the couch because my mom always sleeps down there for the same reason lol. Rave - I'm so happy to finally know what I'm carrying! I would've been thrilled with either sex but my mom and I did have a lot of fun picking out some girl clothes at Target yesterday. DH's reaction was so cute and I'm so happy someone took a video of the reveal so I could see his face! My face on the other hand is laughable, I look confused and startled from the balloon lol. One would think I could look a LITTLE happier but I'm not good with everyone's attention on me waiting for a reaction. I just can't believe there's a little girl in there!

    Questions: none atm

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about the state you live in? The bourbon! lol. I also love all the rolling hills and horse farms - so gorgeous!

    EDD/weeks+days: 7/19, 14+1

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: peach, and not a fun fact but I can't get over the fact that we saw baby's brain at our appt last week!

Upcoming appointments: just had one, next will be my anatomy scan in about a month

How are you feeling? Good. Lots of my first trimester stuff (which was on the milder side anyway) has pretty much subsided. Now I'm HUNGRY and apparently expanding outside my usual pants. Bring on the bump!

Raves/Rants: rave: we had a great appointment on Friday and finally got to see the little one in all their glory! I was amazed by how much we would see and how much s/he was moving around in there. Then on Saturday we announced the pregnancy on social media (I'll drop it in the spoiler) which was a lot of fun. Yesterday we went to buy buy baby because I felt overwhelmed by just looking at stuff online and it was super helpful just to walk among stuff and talk it through with DH. We decided on a stroller, narrowed down carseat, and decided instead of a bassinet we'll go the pack n play route. I also picked up some maternity clothes. It's all feeling very real and exciting now! Yay second tri!

Questions: what did we decide a few weeks ago about hair treatments? I desperately need a cut and balyage update 😳

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about the state you live in? Oh I become my most obnoxious version of my self on this topic (good one @b_1029 !) I love Massachusetts. So many beaches and cute small towns around them and all the good seafood, all four seasons and perfect autumns, and the best damn sports teams in the country! It's a great place to live 🙂

    ETA tags oops
@b_1029 so so so exciting about the girl! Glad the gender reveal went well and you had a nice (albeit warm) time with your parents. I went to KY once with my bff from our Nashville days (she's from there) and it was a great time! Beautiful state

ETAx2 our announcement in the spoiler wow baby brain today!

  • @mehugg ohhh I can't take credit for the question, I definitely ripped it from another group's check in lol. You had a great US picture, I'm so happy you had a great appointment! Also - we announced this weekend too! Congrats :) also very overwhelmed about registry stuff but so many people have already asked me about a shower so I feel like we should start chipping away at it. My OB says hair treatments are fine during pregnancy - I'm sure it's fine now especially since we're officially 2nd trimester YAY!!!

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out, March 2nd

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: 'as tall as a deck of cards'/growing its peach fuzz this week.

Upcoming appointments: Jan. 27th for just a quick check up

How are you feeling? I'm all right. Hips starting to hurt, it was so painful yesterday but the pain has subsided today. I keep telling myself I need to start my yoga routine back up but just haven't had the energy to do so. I'd rather lay in bed and binge watch The Vampire Diaries. I've also been dealing with a 'sinus' headache since Friday. It comes and goes, pounding, and nothing seems to be helping. I can only find temporary relief with a hot pack on my eyes, leaning over a sink. But I can't do that all day.

Raves/Rants: I am down to 1 pair of jeans that still comfortably fit me. I also think I told some of you a couple weeks ago that I had an interview for a promotion at work, and I GOT IT! Yay.

    Questions: None at the moment.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about the state you live in? The lakes, food, craft beer, 'Up North'. Really anything in Minnesota during the summer is my favorite. During the winter though, I hate it with a passion. I always question why I'm still here.
  • @shaqn0sis lurking from Group 2 to wave hello to a fellow Minnesotan. :) I moved here from New Orleans so I fully understand the winter hatred.
  • @rachelredhead Hello!! :) Oye, that's a big change! I've never lived anywhere else, but I know how good other places have it during the winter.
  • @shaqn0sis My Louisiana friends complain about their summers so it all balances out. I just use winter as justification to buy all the cute sweaters and drink all the dark beer (when not pregnant). The lack of beer is cramping my style this year. :)
  • Yay congrats on the promotion @shaqn0sis!! Boss lady!!

  • @mehugg I love mass! I went to college on the north shore and have always told DH that that is the only other place I would want to live

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out at anatomy scan

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: peach!

Upcoming appointments: I did a 24 hour urine and lab work yesterday, for a baseline reading since I developed preeclampsia with my other pregnancies and then OB appointment next week!

How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good, some days I’m exhausted though. Last night I went to bed at 7 right after putting DD2 to bed and just let DD1 watch tv in my bed until she fell asleep

Raves/Rants: It was so nice to have a three day weekend but going back to work is always the worst when you’ve lost a day of the week

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about the state you live in? I love living in Maine! The ocean and seafood is my favorite but I also love that we have some mountains. I also love living in a state that thrives off of tourism. Most people hate all the tourists but I love it when the towns come alive with people everywhere and the cruise ships come in
  • @NinnyJean I love Maine! My mother and her entire family live there and I frequent often.  <3
  • @mehugg thank you! Also, never been to Massachusetts but I assume if it's anything similar to Maine I bet it's gorgeous! Love me some fresh seafood too  :)
  • EDD/weeks+days: 15 weeks  July 18

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green:  Blue!

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact:  A box of crayons or a canary lol

Upcoming appointments:  I just had my 14 week last Wednesday so my next ones arent til the end of Feb.  The 24th is my regular one with my doctor and the 28 is my anatomy scan!

How are you feeling?  Overall Im fine but Im tired and cant make it through the day without a nap.  Im also cranky and I feel bad about it because Im taking it out my kids when really its because Im hungry and tired growing a human and also raising 3 others.

Raves/Rants:  I just wish I had more motivation and energy overall.  I have ADHD but cant take meds when pregnant and I just miss the old me some days when I know I could be way more focused and motivated to do stuff   My home is a wreck but I cant get myself to clean

Questions: I know people say you shouldnt sleep on your back for extended amounts of time because it can cut off blood flow but if you have an anterior placenta does it affect it as much?  Like is sleeping on your stomach worse in that case?  I am a side sleeper overall but just curious about the placement.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about the state you live in? Its close to the beaches.  I miss the ocean so much in the winter.
  • @b_1029 Im guessing Kentucky?  My husband is a big bourbon drinker and Im a non drinker.  Im always wandering around the bourbon section of the alcohol store with no clue what to buy him for presents  I buy a lot from what I deem is a cool looking bottle lol.  Any suggestions?  I know the ones he likes or have had like Blantons and Jefferson etc but always looking for new ones to surprise him with

@mehugg I was just in you state right before I found out I was pregnant!  We took the kids to Boston for a few days to see some sites.  I love seafood so had to have some clam chowder when there.  So good.  My friend lives by Cape Ann and Im really considering a trip one day out there to visit and check out the seaport area.

@shaqn0sis Hope you are feeling better.  The Salvatore brothers are a wonderful healing method I hear.  Random fact but Stefan is from my town and is a year younger than me.  I have photos of him in my middle school yearbook and Im a few degrees separated from him through random friends in the town.  Small world.  I never met him but his family I think is still here.

@NinnyJean Oooh Maine.  Another seafood haven I want to visit one day.  My SIL and mom have both raved about Arcadia so its on my list to see one day hopefully with the family.  If anything I just want some delicious lobster and chowder.
  • @enchantindragon I don’t think sleeping position risks are related to placenta placement. I could be wrong but pretty sure it’s just about the aorta being compressed by the weight of the abdomen and reducing blood supply to the baby, no matter where the placenta is placed. It’s not usually a big deal until at least halfway through the pregnancy, and mostly in the third trimester. And at that point, I don’t know anyone who is even remotely interested in trying to sleep on their stomach.
  • @Pascal86 I think you are right. And yes agreed no one is a tummy sleeper in the 3rd trimester! Thank you for explaining
