Someone hacked my Zulily account and ordered stuff in the middle of the night. I cannot say enough about their customer service. 'We already flagged the order, we've removed all your info from your account, and we'll work with your bank to make sure your money doesn't get taken out." I also got signed up for literally hundreds of email newsletters. Milanka, whoever you are, you are welcome to choke on a bag of dicks.
I got most of my BFing done in the in-laws thread, but can I just say it's bullshit that I have to actually work 5 days a week from now until the baby comes? Haha, I've been spoiled by the holidays.
@thepretzelchick Ugh, that's THE WORST. Whoever had my number before me was named Katrina, and I get at least one text a day that says something like "Katrina, click this link to find how you can easily earn $1000 a day!" I've reported and blocked at least 100 numbers, but they keep coming from new ones.

I found out I need a certain number of sick days to get max short term disability. I thought I could combine it with vacation day, but I can't. I have a million monitoring appts between now and having these babies, and I am going to be pissed if I get less disability because I have to use sick time for all my appts.
@ruby696 Ugh, that sucks. Can you schedule flex at all? I usually try to avoid using my paid time off and try to just make up the time during the rest of the week, or working from home an hour or two in the evenings. But I'm lucky in that my boss is super flexible with that stuff.

@shamrocandroll I have every other Friday off, so I need to start pushing for appts on those Fridays. I should have enough time if I start using vacation for medical appts. It's kind of annoying that the reason my sick leave is low is related to the condition I'll need the disability for. Its not like I call in sick all the time. I'm hoping I can do the weekly NST's on my lunch break. Hopefully they'll only take an hour or less. That will help at least.
Two of my husband’s partners are out on short term disability. One had knee surgery and told the medical director not to schedule him for shifts in Jan/Feb so that no one would get stuck having to last minute cover his shifts. The other one is apparently well enough to go out for drinks, drive her kids to school, go to the gym and do everything EXCEPT work. She is taking her disability week by week and is on the schedule...so people are having to cover her shifts in high season. MH has already had to cover 4 shifts in the last 3 weeks on top of his 20 shifts a month. Average ED doctors work 13-14 a month. MH is always in a shitty mood (can’t blame him!) and I’m basically solo parenting.
On the plus side, today DD went back to school. If I weren’t pregnant, I’d have popped champagne in the parking lot.
MH gave me a hard time this morning when I asked him if I could leave the house first (we have to stagger due to our needy pup who freaks out if we leave at the same time). He immediately got annoyed because I "should have said something last night" when he KNOWS this is a crazy busy week for me at work and I'm already stressed about it. I have to catch the bus every morning and he can go into work whenever he wants so its really not a big deal if he leaves a few minutes late. Sorry I asked you to be 10 minutes late to the job that doesn't care if you roll in at 10am 😑
I had a swimsuit I needed to return to Motherhood Maternity that's nearing the 30 days since delivery, but I had been putting off going to the outlet mall near work to return because I figured it would be crazy with the holidays etc and I'm lazy and it's like a 10-15 minute drive so takes up my whole lunch. I finally went today to get it over with and apparently they stopped accepting online returns just a couple weeks ago because of all the stores closing. I had returned something in November and hadn't given any thought that things might have changed in the past month and a half. So I wasted a trip to the mall which was annoying and now I have to go to the post office to mail it back (and pay shipping) or just eat the $30 which I'm honestly learning toward because finding time to get to the post office before they close is such a pain. On the bright side I did get a pumping bra for 20% off while I was at the store though. And maybe I'll just tell DH we need to schedule another beach or water park vacation to get some use out of the swimsuit before May so I don't feel so bad keeping it haha
I know it's not Monday anymore, but I always disliked Tuesdays more anyway. We just upgraded our bed to a king, and moved our still relatively new Tempurpedic queen mattress down into our guest room. We had a pillowtop mattress dish there, which used to be MH's before we met, so even though it's over 12 years old, it wasn't used a ton as a guest bed and was still in great shape. So, I posted it for free on FB with the box spring and metal frame, and a lady messaged me saying she'd take it. She proceeded to be a PITA and rescheduled her pick up day 3 times, then finally came today right at our usual dinner time. I had told her MH could help carry them, but to bring something big enough to transport it and strong help. She showed up with a minivan and her pregnant teenage daughter, and proceeded to watch as my husband tied the mattress to the roof and disassembled the frame for her so it would fit in the van. Thankfully the box spring was split and fit inside. If I wasn't so eager to get it out of here and get the space back, I would have told her to f*ck off. Also, they're getting on the highway with it, so I really hope it's tied down tight enough , but I feel like mattresses on the roof end up flapping around no matter what. She barely thanked him before they left. Ugh, good riddance to the mattress and to dealing with her.

@shamrocandroll I had a similar experience I know how you feel. I offered a sleeper sofa for free. A friend claimed it. The only reason we were getting rid of it for free (moving) was that we didn't want to deal with actually moving it down the three flights of stairs and into/onto a vehicle. We made it clear she needed to bring help and move it herself, she brought a girl that couldn't have weighed more than 90 lbs and they couldn't lift it together, let alone get it down the stairs, and then they didn't bring a truck and thought somehow it could go on the roof of their car. We were livid. Our plan if no one wanted it was to toss it off the balcony then put the pieces in the dumpster. It would have been waaaay easier. My husband managed to get it to the bottom of the stairs where he left it for them to deal with. We had so much other stuff to do as we were closing on the sale of our place in the morning and everything needed to be perfect.
oh, and the queen mattress I just got rid of, this couple showed up in a prius... you know you are picking up furniture and this is the vehicle you bring???
Insurance and policies are Grade-A BS. I finally spoke with the correct person from HR-- I called HR months ago about the policies but I didn't speak with the leave coordinator. Now that I got a chance to talk with her I'm pissed. Under the University's FMLA we get 30-days full pay but up to 12-weeks leave. Welp, I just learned that I'm not eligible under FMLA because I've been employed for under a year (I just started in August). This is the first time I'm learning about this policy. So my plans to leave a few weeks early is out of the door. I'm the breadwinner and I can't afford a reduction in salary, so I'll be working until my water breaks. Hopefully I make it to term ...
P.S. Before TTC I looked into supplemental disability insurance because I wanted to be covered financially if something happened during pregnancy. My claim was denied because I weighed too much.
@drkoyya I agree that navigating insurance and leave is a giant pain and way more complicated than it needs to be. Unfortunately, yes, federal government does not ensure FMLA time off for employees with under a year of service, paid or unpaid, so what you are left with is any PTO/Vacation time or optional Maternity leave provided by your company only. If you don't have time off accrued that could leave you with little to no time off paid or unpaid... the company is not required to hold your job/position for you, you could just be termed. It's a sad situation.
@pirateduck Luckily I'm on a two-year contract and on a 5-year tenure timeline so I can't be terminated because of leave. I could be terminated if I don't keep up with my tenure criteria but that's a different issue. I barely have any vacation time saved up. The saving grace is that our contract ends on May 20th so I'll just miss a few weeks of pay (if I carry to term). Just still upsetting that I'm just finding this out now, when I've been to the benefit workshops and previously spoke with HR.
Frustrating for sure @drkoyya I've had misinformation in the past regarding insurance and lots of bills to pay out of pocket as a result. In terms of leave, I know I don't get paid maternity/fmla time, so I just have to save my pennies until then.
@drkoyya That sucks so bad!!! I’m so sorry you’re just finding this out! I know it’s not the best situation but at least you still have 4 months to try to save up some more money
@drkoyya This is probably just semantics and not the greater point of your post, but the majority of labors don't begin with the water breaking. Only about 15% if labors actually begin that way. It's one of those things we've all been led to believe by Hollywood's inaccurate portrayal of birth.
