Happy Last Monday of 2019!

Please double-check your name and confirm your Dx & Rx.

QOTW: Do you like New Years resolutions? How do you celebrate the new year?

Any Rants/Raves from this past week? Tell us about it!

HOUSE KEEPING QUESTION: We have a few members in the paging section who have announced their BFP. I always ask people to let me know when they are ready to be moved to the hall of fame, but many people say they aren’t ready yet then stop participating in this board. Should I move them up at the end of the year? Should we keep the 2019 hall of fame into 2020?

QOTW: Do you like New Years resolutions? How do you celebrate the new year?
I always intend on keeping resolutions and then only half commit (or maybe like 10% commit lol). This year I just want to work on managing my emotions and anxiety. Remove stress from my life. We have no plans this year so maybe it'll be just us at home. We never go out to a big party to celebrate.

Had my last appointment before the biopsy next week. Everything is looking good. I can't really take any meds beforehand to ease the pain. Ibuprofen can interfere with the results of the inflammation testing! Shucks. Oh well. I'm a warrior and can manage right? Results on the inflammation come back in about a week with the timing results coming a week after that so by mid January we should have a full plan of attack!

@inthewoods23 good luck with the biopsy prep, glad everything seems to be on track!!

QOTW: I really vary in my New Years resolution, but met with the IVF specialist today and he is pretty insistent that I cut out all sugar, so that is my resolution for this year. I’m looking forward to having a calm night at home for NYE, we had 12 people staying with us until this morning.

So my update, met with the IVF specialist today. He wants me to cut out all sugar (AAHH I love sugar) and do one more round of IUI, then BCP in Feb with stims in March. They won’t let me do stims without BCP for a month first. I’m a little disappointed that they changed the plan (we were supposed to start  meds in just a few weeks) but trying to just stay calm and focused on the end goal. The upside is it gives us some extra time to figure out where we will get $23,000.  Also they decided to do some additional genetic blood testing today and omg the nurse could not find my vein and it was awful!! I feel like a pin-cushion!

@inthewoods23 goodluck with the biopsy prep! Fingers crossed for you!

@2dogsmom cutting out sugar seems terrible, i also loveee sugar! What exactly is BCP?? I’m sorry they changed your plan, but hopefully it will work out for the better!!

QOTW: resolutions... hmm I mostly thing they’re a load of crap, the working out eating better. That’s a lifestyle change, not just something you do for the new year. However, I resolve for a BFP, so I guess that mine lol.

Updates: Currently my diagnosis is a potential of PCOS, my OBGYN saw cysts in my ovaries consistent with that which is why we were referred to the fertility center. We went to our first fertility appointment on Friday and met with the RE. She’s so very sweet. We both did blood work. Our next few weeks i will be doing day 3 and 21 bloods as well as Ultrasounds. Also i will have an HSG. I’m so nervous that it’s going to hurt!! I checked the results of mine today, it’s all within normal range, I’m going to call tomorrow to see if they can give me the access code for DH because he doesn’t have the account with the hospital, fingers crossed his looks good! I look forward to sharing our journey in making babyB with all of you! 🙂

@abarr723 welcome to our weekly thread! I’ve added you to the top but will wait to fill in your RX until you know more.

Getting the bloodwork and diagnostic stuff done will be good! It will really help you and your RE develop a plan! Don’t stress too much about the HSG, for me it was almost completely painless (my IUIs hurt way more actually) but even people who experience pain it’s no more than period cramp type pain. Drink plenty of fluids before and especially right after and you’ll be fine.

Also, BCP = birth control pills, which is totally counter intuitive sounding but the theory is you don’t want any one egg to develop too fast for the IVF egg retrieval process, so being on them right before you start all the stimulus meds should start all eggs at the same size so they grow at the same rate.

@2dogsmom I’ll let you know more about my RX as it comes! I’m so glad I found a group of ladies who understand what I’m going through! If I here one more person tell me “it’s okay, it’s going to happen” ill flip out!

I am looking Forward to having a solid plan developed! It sounds like she’s going to start me with meds and IUI, as long as my HSG is good. I’m glad to know it shouldn’t be too painful. I’m in a group on Facebook and they were all ranting about how awful it was.

BCP, yes that makes sense, I worked at the fertility clinic for a year so I am familiar with them prescribing BC prior to stim for IVF. ALSO, $23,000! Oh my gosh! That’s unreal, your insurance doesn’t cover anything?? ☹️

@abarr723 interesting so many people in the FB group were complaining. Hopefully it won’t be painful for you. I am sure once you have a solid plan you’ll feel so much better, but yes I can so relate to all those “helpful” comments that hurt more than they help!

Yes $23,000 — my insurance doesn’t cover anything (I don’t “need” to be pregnant). It’s crazy but will be worth it.

@2dogsmom I know lol I hope they were all just being dramatic.

I’m so sorry, that’s crazy. But It will absolutely be worth it to have a little love that’s half you ah half your best friend!! ❤️

Also, what type of pups do you have?!

@abarr723 to be fair, my HSG was painful but I also hadn't been told to take any meds beforehand to help with cramping. Same with the SHG if you ever need to have one of those done. The first time sucked for me because it's saline going up in there and I think I felt it up into the tubes too so lots of pressure. My 2nd SHG though they did actually tell me to take a bunch of ibuprofen so that time felt a lot more comfortable.

@inthewoods23 the nurse at the fertility center told me to take ibuprofen before the procedure. Hopefully that is helpful!

@inthewoods23 hoping you get a plan set soon! thats exciting that youll finally have some solid plans. sorry that you cant take ibuprofen, that stinks :(

@2dogsmom I'm sorry you didnt get to do IUI last month, but it sounds like your doctors have a plan so thats good. why are they insistent that you stop sugar? just curious. and i cant believe it will be $23,000!! wow i am so sorry.

@abarr723 welcome! though i am sorry you have to be here, i am glad you found the boards! they have been a great support to me and i hope they are to you too. i have PCOS as well, so if you ever have any questions, you can definitely message me! it is not a fun diagnosis but its amazing what modern medicine can do. good luck with all the testing! its a pain, but its worth it to know whats going on in our bodies. my HSG hurt quite a bit, mostly the getting everything in place part. but if you are super worried, they can probably prescribe you something for the pain or you can take ibuprofen beforehand.

QOTW: Do you like New Years resolutions? How do you celebrate the new year?
Honestly, I'm kind of lame and usually just go to bed instead of celebrate haha. I like sleep too much just to stay up to see the clock change lol. I don't really like New Years resolutions....I think its smart to set goals at any point in time, so whether you set them on Jan 1 or Sept 22 or whenever, it's just good to set them!

AFM: well, i graduated from my RE today, so i think this will be a good time to move me to the board graduates. i'll miss you guys but ill hover and read and check up on how everyone is doing!!

I am about 11 weeks now. @abarr723 Hopefully taking the meds beforehand your HSG experience won’t be too bad. Thinking about it, part of what helped me I think is they sucked as much of the contrast dye back out as possible because I am allergic, so I didn’t have the extra fluid in there all day which I am guessing would contribute to pain. But who knows, everyone is different.

@knockupthestock no sugar because my bloodwork showed really high blood sugar and he wants to monitor and see what happens.

Congrats on being almost through your first trimester, I’ll move you up to the graduates sections
