Hey, how do you ladies feel about "display" showers for a baby shower? I'm on the fence. For those who don't know, display shower is basically this- you tell guests to bring their gifts unwrapped and have a designated spot at party for everyone to put their gifts. Guests attach a card/tag to say who it's from of course. This is instead of the traditional "sit down open gifts" portion of the day. Do people really care/want to spend almost an hour sitting quietly while you open gifts? I feel this gives more time for people to relax, mingle/catch up and is less "awkward" for mama to be....? Thoughts?
you might have more luck in your BMB or in the babyshower thread.... but generally I'd say the older population (50+) want you to open the gift as they watch.
If people don’t want to watch you open presents they can leave before that happens. That’s what I do. The people that want to watch your reaction will be very disappointed to miss that. That’s why people give gifts. It’s not for the mock tails and party games.

Personally I get annoyed any time there are special instructions at a shower like how to wrap gifts (or not wrap them) or to provide books instead of cards, etc...
The point of a shower is to shower the recipient with gifts and most people want to see the person open those gifts.
