Congrats!! I can't wait to see some pics if you want to join us on Facebook   I'm sorry it was such a rough ride but it sounds like you're slowly recovering and he's doing well -- and in the end, that's the most important thing

~~ Our Story in Spoiler! TW loss/child~~
    Fall 2012 -- started TTC
Summer 2015 - no BFP yet, labs normal, referred to RE
Fall 2015 - Summer 2016 - Further testing all normal. 3 IUI's -- BFN. Recommended move to IVF. Planned cycle for fall 2016.
September 2016 - Surprise natural BFP. MMC @ 8 weeks. RE expressed confidence that we just needed the 'right' embryo.
    Fall 2016 - Spring 2017 -- Break from TTC
June 2017 - Started IVF; egg retrieval for freeze all cycle. 9 mature eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized. 2 4BB embies on ice.
August 2017 - FET transfer both embies. BFP.  Twin pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound. EDD 4/28/18
September 2017 - Twin B stopped developing; Twin A doing perfectly! Graduated from RE @ 10 weeks
March 2018 - Baby Girl born via C/S due to pre-eclampsia -- strong and healthy!

    TTC #2
    January/Feb 2021 - Freeze-all IVF cycle
    March 2021 - FET of 1 PGS normal female embryo. BFP! Beta #1 156,  #2 472, #3 1241, #4 5268 EDD 12/5/21 - Christmas baby!

"When all is lost then all is found."

  • @k_mama91 - a very BIG congratulations on the birth of your little boy!! Love the name too! So sorry to hear about the scary aftermath of the birth, but really hope the recovery period goes smoothly. As others have said, it’s crazy how much you’ve been through with this pregnancy and birth and how you’ve gotten through it all with such strength! Will be thinking of you and your family as you get through this next phase of recovery.

@knockupthestock - ahhh, so excited to see you here!! Congratulations on the BFP; it must have been such a shock to see that positive! Hope all continues to go well with you and you don’t encounter any other scary situations like the SCH.

@cigaline - I imagine once you get to the 30’s when it comes to weeks of pregnancy it feels a whole lot more real. Sorry to hear about the reflux! Does your doctor/midwife have any suggestions? I’ve always found reflux worse than heartburn just because of how “close” it is to the mouth compared to heart burn. On a more positive note, sounds like a lovely way to spend the weeks before Christmas playing in an orchestra and enjoying being part of the music!

@hanshotfirst77 - glad to hear the reveal to your family went well! Did you reveal the news in any particular way? I know the anxiety never, truly goes away (at least in my case), but I hope the more scans and appointments you have decreases it a lot! Almost through the first trimester! On a side note, bravo for forging forward with conceiving another child without waiting for that Mr. Right! I can imagine it takes a lot of determination and courage to take that path, especially with all those IF treatments, so well done you!
    • How far along/EDD? 26w1d  3/9
    • How are you feeling this week? I’ve been continuing to feel pretty good overall. Been having some heartburn here and there and some restless legs at night which hasn’t been fun. But overall I really can’t complain much.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Had a lovely weekend with DH decorating the tree and then had take-out and watched some Christmas movies. I love weekends like that when I don’t have to leave the house. I’m enjoying them as long as they will last before life gets turned upside down with a newborn lol.
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB appointment on Thursday and glucose test. I’m not looking forward to gulping down that drink, but looking less forward to just sitting around in my doctor’s office before getting blood drawn. I have to remember to bring a book with me on the day.
    • GTKY: how did you and your significant other meet? We met on-line. The funny thing was that we both lived only 10 mins away from each other, both attended the same church, and our sisters attended elementary school together, but yet we never had met. As part of a wedding gift, DH printed off all the discussions we had on-line (we went on dates pretty quickly after meeting, so it wasn’t a huge stack of paper) so I could look back on our very first discussions. It was pretty cool!
  • @sincethelastday Thank you! I put my son in a shirt that says "Brother Shark" like from baby shark. I also have a matching onesie that says "baby shark". And I just kinda waited for people to notice. It wasn't a huge surprise since my family knows about my losses. So I'm sure they assumed I would keep trying. But I didn't tell any of them I was doing IVF or anything along the way. Except my mom. Who actually has been giving me all my PIO shots and taking me to the major appts like the retrieval and transfer. There was some tension when my family first found out what I was doing. For some family members they were not immediately happy or supportive. Others have been great the whole time. I know it's not a decision everyone would make for themselves or want for their family. But I am glad it seems even the skeptics of the family seem to have come around. And at the end of the day, I know it doesn't matter what they think. This was what was right for me and my little family. And they can be on board with it or not. But I sure am relieved that they seem on board.

Good luck with your glucose screening. I remember hating that part. And good call on the book. And that's so cool about your H printing your first talks. How cool to look back on that.

  • @k_mama91  Woo hoo! Congrats.

    • How far along/EDD? 10 weeks
    • How are you feeling this week? almost no symptoms which is making my PGAL brain anxious
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Ob/GYn cancelled my 1st appt this Friday b/c records weren't there.  I called RE to fix and they had them to w/in a hour.  Evidently, now an unamed doctor needs to review them before they'll schedule me.
    • Any upcoming appointments? see above
    • GTKY: how did you and your significant other meet?  We met at my high school.  Wife taught there but never taught me.  Reconnected as friends 12 or so years after I graduated and then started dating after my divorce.

  • @Tulips29 - can I just say that your comment about restless legs and can’t stretch them out due to causing a charley horse is SPOT ON for me too! Ugh, they suck! It doesn’t help that my small-medium sized dog seems to hog the bed like he’s a Great Dane, but I don’t have the heart to kick him off the bed. Hope you get some relief from these symptoms as you near the home stretch!!

@sincethelastday What kind of dog do you have? We have a 9 lb yorkie who also thinks he's the king of the bed and LOVES to sleep either in my feet or behind my back. My husband moves a lot in his sleep so our dog learned to just sleep on my side. And I also feel bad when I end up kicking him off me or pushing him around when I get up frequently at night. But he will not sleep anywhere else, so he must deal with me.

  • I haven't checked in here in awhile and don't have much time so I'll respond to everyone else's comments later!

    • How far along/EDD? 22+3, April 4th
    • How are you feeling this week? Actually pretty good! I managed to not catch the cold that has been infecting my whole family but maybe it's just a matter of time. Emotionally I feel awesome because we had our fetal echo today and baby boy's heart looks perfect and his growth is spot on. His estimated weight is 1 lb 1 oz.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? I guess just a rave. I just can't believe how long it takes nursery furniture to come in! We ordered ours at the beginning of Nov and the estimated arrival is mid February. I'm so glad we went early (knowing we would have to because our daughter's furniture also took for GDE to come in).
    • Any upcoming appointments? Next OB in 2 weeks and next ultrasound in 6 weeks.
    • GTKY: how did you and your significant other meet? Online in 2012, met up January 2013 :) We didn't even have app dating at that time so you had to actually go on your computer. I kind of wish I could experience the world of Bumble and Tinder!

  • @knockupthestock welcome and congrats!! What a great surprise! I haven’t had a SCH, but I’ve had some spotting this time around and regardless of the cause or how bad/light it is, there’s just no way around the anxiety. Thankfully, it seems like most on here that have had any kind of bleeding seem to have good support through their RE or OB, so my advice is if an extra scan will make you feel better ask for one 😊

@k_mama91 yay for baby Wyatt!! (also love the name, it has been on our list too). I can’t believe you had to have a bowel resection though! And you’re home already?? You are amazing.

@cigaline woot for 30 weeks! It definitely hit me this week too that the end is near. I ended up buying almost everything on our registry on black Friday because I just needed to have everything done and settled while I still had the stamina to assemble a crib and organize. I’m also having really bad reflux this week, mine will just hit all the sudden and I actually vomit a little into my throat. Tums help a little, but I remember from last time, this is just how it goes until baby drops and gives us a little more room ☹

@hanshotfirst I was a little hesitant with this week’s GTKY question, since I know this isn’t a journey everyone does with a partner. I’m really sorry if it felt irritating or isolating to you, but I’m really glad that you pushed forward with what you felt was right for your family and didn’t let anything stand in your way. Before I met my husband I had already planned to start a family using a friend’s sperm, we had an agreement worked out and everything, so on our first date I told DH that my plan was to start a family in one year (with or without him!) and if he wasn’t on board with that we shouldn’t go on a second date. Hopefully everything went well at your appointment today! Keep us posted 😊

@sincethelastday your weekend sounds lovely! Honestly, it sounds just like maternity leave haha. For me it was like one long weekend, just add in lots of baby snuggles. I’m SO excited to be on leave again to spend days (and nights) snuggling a little babe while binge-watching shows haha!

@Tulips29 I’m 4 weeks behind you, but I’ve already given up on shaving! I’ve also started getting winded when I do anything, which is super annoying when your toddler wants to dance with you to Single Ladies! Haha! Sorry to hear about the cramps, were you trying a magnesium drink before bed? I remember that helping a friend who was having the same issue. I wonder if your OB can prescribe anything? A B vitamin?

    ·         How far along/EDD? 30+3, 2/8

    ·         How are you feeling this week? Not bad. Feeling some muscle soreness in my crotch (as if I went to the gym and used that weird machine where you squeeze your legs together), I’m guessing that’s due to my pelvis loosening up. Reflux is getting worse and I’ve given up doing most lifting of our toddler, so DH now has to do all the bedtime/wakeup/car seat tasks with him. I have weekly PT appointments now where they basically dig their elbows into my back and butt to “release the tension”, I’m sure it’s helpful, but I end up being pretty sore for about 2 days after.

    ·         Rants/Raves? Questions? Rave – I’m pretty excited to be getting a little push of energy this week. It’s definitely “nesting” and I’m excited to have everything done by this weekend so I can relax until baby comes!

    ·         Any upcoming appointments? OB next week

    ·         GTKY: how did you and your significant other meet? We met on Tindr. I was using the app for entertainment, not to actually date anyone, but he had some pretty funny pictures and asked to take me to lunch, so I figured I would give him a shot. I had plans with friends about an hour after our date as an “out” because I figured he would be nice, but boring. We ended up really hitting it off, so he just came with me and ended up meeting all of my close friends on our first date!

  • @Tulips29 - we have a Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise cross who weighs about 25lbs, so definitely bigger than a Yorkie lol. He also likes to sleep plastered to my back, which is nice for the first few minutes and then it starts driving me nuts lol.

@wifeinraleigh28 - great to hear that you and baby are doing well overall, especially with not catching that cold!

@PoeMasque - that sounds like an awesome plan with getting pretty much everything done this weekend so you can just relax afterwards. Hope you get some relief from the reflux and groin pain though! I also found it reassuring with you mentioning the perks of mat leave, like sitting on the couch cuddling a newborn and binge watching TV. I’ve gotten this sense from people in my life that I won’t have time for anything anymore, even like watching some TV or reading part of a book. This may be really naive of me, but don’t you get some time to do things like that when you’re sitting breast feeding or when baby is down for a nap?

@emmasemm - I’m with you on feeling like I still have so much to get done! We have most of the nursery furniture purchased and assembled, but it’s just all the little things that we still need to buy. I’m stressing out quite a bit with how much clothes and what type of clothes to buy right off the bat. Like how much newborn clothes do you really need? Hope you have some more energetic days than exhausted ones!

@k_mama91 congrats on the birth of Wyatt. Its wonderful to hear that he is doing well. I am sorry the birth process had so many complications. I hope you have plenty of help while you heal. In case you need a hand there is such a thing as a post-partum doula who helps you around the house, helps with baby etc.

@emmasemm I think not feeling the kicks is the thing I miss most after giving birth. (though I don't miss the kicks to my cervix!) feeling the baby move around is such a magical and reassuring thing.

  • @sincethelastday I did so much sitting, snuggling, feeding, and watching TV on leave that I started to worry I was going to give myself a blood clot from inactivity! it was wonderful though, soaking in all the oxytocin! The downside is that you don't sleep. DH and I ended up working out a schedule because getting less than 6 hours of sleep in a row (IN A ROW IS THE KEY!) for more than 3 days is basically like being super drunk all the time. They've done studies, you are a safer driver when you're drunk than when you're sleep deprived! I pumped at 6pm, went to bed, DH was on baby duty until ~12am-1am, then he went to bed and got up at 6-7am. We had a sound machine and ear plugs in our bedroom. This was honestly the key to my sanity for the first 9 months when our son was waking up every 2-3 hours (which is totally normal). We plan to have the same schedule this time too.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 glad to hear you're doing well and feeling well!

@PoeMasque I will trade you dancing to single ladies for laying on the floor pretending to be a train track lol. I feel bad telling mine to wait until daddy comes home to crawl around on the floor with him because once I get down that low, I am not getting up! I haven't tried magnesium drinks, I've just been eating more magnesium rich foods. Your last post about the sleep deprivation hits home and I'm terrified thinking back on all those sleepless  months and feeling like a zombie and going through it all again soon.

@emmasemm I hope that heartburn/reflux/restlessness gets better for you! I remember after birth thinking I was feeling phantom kicks for quite some time, but it was definitely not the same as the real ones.

@laurad75 At one point my doc stopped telling me heartbeat rates and just saying "everything is looking good and it's a strong heartbeat" because I was also focused on the numbers being perfect. If they don't say there's an issue with the HR, then I would try not to worry, even though I know it's so much easier said than done. Hoping your next u/s goes perfectly!

@sincethelastday I know every baby is different, but with my son everyone told me not to get any newborn clothes and just get 0-3 months right away. My son was 7lbs 2oz and was drowning in 0-3 months clothes, so I quickly picked up a few newborn onesies for him and he wore them for at least 2 months from what I remember. I wouldn't worry getting a ton though and you can always have someone pick up a few things for you when the baby comes of amazon prime them if that's an option.

  • P.S. wanted to add to my post - I went in for an ultrasound yesterday and this baby is measuring a little over 6 lbs already! How in the world am I going to last another 5 weeks? I panicked for a second and asked if I should expect giving birth to a 10 lbs baby, but they told me she should be closer to 8.5 lbs if I last all the way to my due date. Also, holy swelling! For a second I thought I would avoid swelling this time around as it started earlier for me last time. But I can barely fit into any of my shoes now except my roomy uggs and my fingers feel like swollen sausages.

The newborn clothes go by fast, but it's helpful to have a few onesies and sleepers on hand. Anne was a preemie and she still outgrew them within a few weeks! 0-3 will be your best purchases for the first period, but they go through clothes quickly! Look for the packs of onesies that Gerber sells -- they were life savers when everything else was in the wash. Once you get to 6-9 and 9-12 month sizes, it slows up a lot.

  • @sincethelastday our son spent the first year spitting up constantly, so I was glad we had inherited boxes full of clothes from friends because we actually needed 3-5 outfits per day for him. Also - don’t get anything that doesn’t open from the bottom. Tiny babies are suuuuper wiggly and I remember our son hating diaper changes when he was new. having to undress him completely for a diaper change every 1-2 hours when his outfit didn’t have snaps or zippers at the legs was horrible!

@Tulips29 haha! Our son is super into trains too, but if I laid on the floor he would just think it was time to wrestle :( I wouldn’t worry too much about the weight estimate via ultrasound, they are often way off. I know they say up to a pound in each direction, but I’ve seen them off by a lot more than that. I can’t believe you only have 5 more weeks! Eep!

  • Thanks, ladies, for all the advice on baby clothes!! Clothing is what I’ve found to be the most overwhelming when it comes to purchasing stuff for this little guy. It’s so nice to just be able to come on here and ask a question and get so many answers! 😊
  • @Tulips29 6 lbs! That's great and also has to be anxiety producing.  It seems babies are getting so much bigger these days.
  • @Tulips29 and @PoeMasque Hello from the world of little to no sleep 😴 it’s just as you remember it being. I feel like a zombie!

@sincethelastday You will absolutely be able to do those things! I’ve caught up on all my shows on dvr this week and even watched a couple of Christmas movies with ds1 while baby was napping. Probably should’ve napped but oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • @k_mama91 Congratulations on baby Wyatt!!! I read your birth story and oh girl, you had it rough. But I’m glad that you are both alright.
  • @k_mama91 was thinking of you and wondering how you're holding up. How has the transition from 1 to 2 has been? I hope the zombie days go by quickly!

  • @dukie001 I’m still traumatized but would do it again for him in a heartbeat.

@Tulips29 I’m doing pretty well physically. My incision is swollen today but I think it’s from pushing myself too hard, being sedentary is hard! 1 to 2 has been fairly smooth. Dh has been home helping so ask me again in a month and I may have a different answer lol!
