Re: Group 2 (April 9-16) Check-in Week of 11/25

  • Happy Thanksgiving week, group 2!

    EDD/W+D:  April 12, 20w1d

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: blue

Baby is the size of a(n): paper airplane

    Upcoming Appointments: next week

How are you feeling? Great! Back pain still a bother, but I’m not expecting that to change as the belly gets bigger!

Raves/Rants: we had our anatomy scan today! So amazing!! I would probably watch it over and over again if they gave us a video of the images. Did get a few nice ones to show family at thanksgiving. Also, had the Popeyes chicken sandwich afterwards... worth the wait!!

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal? Dessert- definitely pecan pie! Side dish probably garlic mashed potatoes. I’m not a huge turkey fan, but can get excited about sides and dessert!

  • EDD/W+D:  4/14, 20 wks tomorrow

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): banana

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan and appointment tomorrow

How are you feeling? Getting backaches. I'm assuming part of it is due to not sleeping well, so I just ordered a pregnancy wedge pillow. Also so hungry. I feel like I get so hungry at work and am not packing enough snacks anymore.

Raves/Rants: Rave: So excited for my anatomy scan tomorrow and to find out if we're having a boy or girl. Also planning on telling my boss tomorrow. My one boss knows, but my other boss doesn't(he may have guessed, though). I was waiting till I was assigned spring classes till saying anything. Since I just got assigned those last week, I figured might as well wait another week.
Rant: DH and I keep getting on each other's nerves. I know I'm more hormonal, but it's annoying!

Questions: Anyone else not planning on telling the name to family? We told last time and got no negative comments, but part of me would like to keep it a secret this time.

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal?
I'm not big on Thanksgiving or Christmas food, but I enjoy most desserts. Not a fan of pumpkin pie, but I'm making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for our family's get together!

  • @Kathryn0903 we are keeping the name a secret from friends and family. I think it will be fun to have that as a surprise since everyone already knows gender! Also, picking a name that DH and I love is important to me and I think that’s most easily done without family input.

  • @Kathryn0903 We are sharing the name, but close friends and family knew what name we were going to use once they found out she was a girl. I’ve talked about wanting to use it for a girl for years. I think if we’d had a boy, we might have kept the name quiet a bit longer, maybe even the whole time to avoid comments.

@gingers19 Yay for a good anatomy scan. The Popeye’s sandwich is HUGE. When I got it, I mostly remember thinking how big and filling it was.

    Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan 12/4

How are you feeling? Pretty good aside from the insomnia. Probably doesn’t help that I’m at a hotel. I never sleep well in strange beds.

Raves/Rants: Rave: Heading to the airport this morning for the big trip. We’ll be in Magic Kingdom this afternoon. Rant: My mom is already driving me crazy. 2 hour drive last night because of where the airport is. She complained the whole time and kept trying to pick fights with my dad.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal? I’m all about the desserts. I don’t really care much if I don’t have a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but I love coconut cream pie and the chocolate pie my mom makes. Not really into pumpkin pie, though.

ETA: Have a great week, ladies. Probably won’t check in much, except when I can’t sleep.

  • *lurking from Group 1*

@Kathryn0903 My husband and I don’t plan to share our top name ideas. I agree with @gingers19 - what is important to us is that we love the name, and we think it will be easier to choose if we aren’t also weighing the opinions of parents and extended family!
  • @mercury94 I hope you have the best time at Disney! <3
@katheryn0903 Did you find out?!?! We told the name right away to people this time but for our next baby we may keep it a secret, although if it's a boy it'll already be set with the name we would have picked for this baby.
@gingers19 ooh I really want to try the popeye's chicken sandwich!

    EDD/W+D:  4/12  20w+2D

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): Paper Airplane

    Upcoming Appointments: December 23rd

How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good. Very congested though and not sure if it's a cold or pregnancy related. A little back pain but not too bad so far.

Raves/Rants: We had our anatomy scan yesterday and everything look great. It's so amazing how many changes there are from the first ultrasounds to now. She's been kicking away too each day.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal?  I love dressing and cranberry sauce. Turkey....meh. I'm a fan of cheesecake for desserts or different pies.

  • EDD/W+D:  4/14, 20w!

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Cantaloupe

Upcoming Appointments: OB tomorrow- we can see our PCP up until 20w in Canada, so tomorrow is my first appointment with my OB. Looking forward to talking about a RCS and how we are going to handle preventing preterm labor (I am high risk).

How are you feeling? Okay, still feeling tired a lot!

Raves/Rants: We're still dealing with major cuts at work. My dept. is tomorrow, so hopefully I make it through! It's been a busy couple of weeks IRL, so I haven't been on here much!

But we had a great AS last week! Baby boy still looks perfect and we got cleared by prenatal genetics.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal? Stuffing and my grandmother's chocolate cream pie!

  • @gingers19 Yay for a great anatomy scan!

@Kathryn0903 we will be telling immediate family once we are 100%, but that's it. I don't really care what anyone says/thinks. We did last time with DD and it was fine.

@mercury94 Have the best time! I hope Mom settles down.

@littleredm So glad you had a great scan!

  • @Kathryn0903 we learned our lesson with our first not to share names we are considering or the one we eventually land on. Our parents tore apart a few we really liked for our DS and it ruined the names for us. We also changed his middle name twice before he arrived (the last time was when I was 39 weeks). We announce their name once they are here. Hard to say you don’t like a name when looking at the baby with that name.

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Feel like I have my sciatica pain well managed

Raves/Rants: I feel like I’ve been constantly nagging/reminding MH to do common sense things around the house like wipe down the table, run the dishwasher, help DS cleanup before bed. So over it.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal? I love pecan, apple and pumpkin pie. Favorite side dish is mashed potatoes with gravy.

  • Late to the party, but a good update is better late than never, right?!

    EDD/W+D:  April 10/20w6d

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Green, though I’m feeling pink vibes as is MH

Baby is the size of a(n): beanie baby!

Upcoming Appointments: prenatal check up December 12

How are you feeling? I’m starting to get some energy boosts which I haven’t had! But lately I’ve been getting little bouts of nausea again for the first time since 10w, so I’m hoping this is a temporary thing! Still exhausted, super gassy...

Raves/Rants: WE HAVE A CONTRACT! Our negotiations team was in with the board for 13 hours and finally reached an agreement. We voted yes and were approved on Monday at the board meeting, so no more strike scare! However, this has made for a very long and stressful past 2 weeks, along with parent teacher conferences and the usual student crazies leading up to thanksgiving and Christmas. Just get me to December 18...
In other news, we are team green, but MH peeked at our anatomy scan and thinks it’s a girl. I’ve been having gurl vibes this whole pregnancy, but this just added to my crazy. Ugh.

Questions: anyone else starting to really show all of a sudden? One of my coworkers mentioned that I popped over the weekend and actually look pregnant now... that made me happy!

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal? I don’t get thanksgiving dinner until Saturday, but I’m super excited about all of it! I haven’t had a real thanksgiving dinner in 3 years due to my weight loss journey. I was on Jenny Craig, so I ate their turkey meal every year for thanksgiving. I’m ready for everything this year! Mostly stuffing, scalloped corn, and pumpkin rolls! MH is making his pear pie this year, too, which I’m really excited for!
    littleredm
  • @ejoseph16 that pear pie sounds delicious!
  • Hey group 2!  I kept meaning on checking in, but got distracted by other posts with the limited time I had this week.  I hope everyone who celebrates US Thanksgiving had a great one!!  I’m loving reading all about these awesome anatomy scans!

    @gingers19 & @Kathryn0903
add me to the group of back pain. I’ve been using my belly bandit upsie belly support band and that has helped a little. We didn’t share the name last time due to all the reasons you both listed but we haven’t talked about that yet.

@mercury94  I hope your trip is going amazing! Hoping that it is full of happy memories.

@ejoseph16 YAY for a contract! I bet that is a huge weight lifted.

  • EDD/W+D:  20+6 & April 11

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Purple

Baby is the size of a(n): paper airplane

Upcoming Appointments: dec 19 OB and growth ultrasound on the twins

    How are you feeling?
Still having the pelvic pain and back pain has come in. Last pregnancy I broke down at 36 weeks and bought a support band. I started using it at 20 weeks this time but it’s helping

Raves/Rants: We told our families! We did a smaller gender reveal with mine on Thanksgiving and then the same small one with DHs fam today. (We drove up to my parents 3 hrs away yesterday and returned today).

    Questions: none right now

GTKY: What is your favorite side dish or dessert for a holiday meal?
thanksgiving fav side dish is sweet potatoes and dessert is pie (pumpkin, blueberry or apple)
    mercury94
  • @ejoseph16 I’m so glad the strike scare is over. I did Jenny Craig for about 2 years. I got so sick of that food. I usually splurged a little on my birthday or major holidays (avoid most of the bad stuff, but eat a small dessert). Maybe the splurging is why it didn’t work for me long term. Sounds like you have excellent willpower. Hope the meal was amazing.

AFM, I had a great trip with minimal family drama. DS had so much fun and really loved meeting all the characters, especially Goofy and Timon.

  • @mercury94 admittedly, I have been horrible between pregnancy 1 in the spring, going through a MC, then getting pregnant again. I am up about 70 pounds overall. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s super embarrassing, but I know I’ll be able to get it back off no problem. It’s just frustrating. I never learned to work through emotions without food. The strike business being done is a huge relief! We talked this morning about how nice it was to get to work when we wanted and to wear what we wanted... usually Monday’s are work to the contract days and we wear all black. Naturally, today I was there early and wore bright colors. 🤣😂
    mercury94
  • @mercury94 Thank you, my team and I were safe. But 7 people were cut from my department (out of 40ish) so that was a lot. And it was job termination, so those positions are now gone and we lost some really great people too. It just sucked! I haven't been through a big lay off before so it was incredibly stressful. There will be more rounds in the future, but I am safe now until I get back from mat leave (which will be 12-18 months).
  • @doraleigh35 That is a big reduction. It sounds like an awful experience. Glad you are safe now to get through leave.
