@beckylookatherbump SAME! Have been eating vegetarian prior to being pregnant and now I can't even look at any of my meat alternatives, including any type of bean.. GIVE ME ALL THE CHICKEN.
I crave spicy food everytime I'm pregnant! I feel like a Franks Red Hot commercial. I put that sh!t on everything! 😂 hot sauce on eggs, mac n cheese, I eat Mexican with a taco/fajita/nacho in one hand and a bottle of Cholula in the other. My first pregnancy we had to buy the double pack of huge BJ's bottles!
Chicken has been gross lately can't stand the smell of it raw so cooking it is hard. DH cooked it a while ago and I couldn't eat it then either.
@shaqn0sis I’ve been eating chicken, I’m down almost 10 lbs so my ob told me I have to start getting more food for baby. I do plan to go back to being a vegetarian after baby. Until then buffalo wings lol. i love how we are all vomiting and still craving spicy foods.
@MrsB915 no chicken for me either! I could eat it if it’s shredded in a soup or something, but I can’t do big pieces of it. Red meat on the other hand, I’ve been wanting like crazy. I usually try to keep my beef consumption pretty minimal. Not now, baby wants burgers!
+1 for team spicy, I made myself a cheese quesadilla for breakfast this morning with jalapenos and hot sauce. Maybe not the most well balanced meal but it was tasty.
@kristinl492 I'm cooking chicken for dinner tonight, gotta feed my 3 hungry guys! But I'm so grossed out! I'll probably have leftover tacos with extra hot sauce and spicy peppers!
I normally like Chinese food but it is now quickly becoming an aversion. I can taste all the nasty MSG in the food and it’s disgusting. I’m becoming super picky... lately just chicken soup and got a box of cereal and milk which is now becoming a favorite meal. I can never figure out what to eat...
@Elle131 I’ve had a Chinese aversion, too, but I know it’s not MSG. MSG is naturally occurring in tomatoes, mushrooms, lots of hard cheeses like Parmesan, some yogurt. And I can’t get enough tomato and Parmesan. 😂 For me I think it’s a texture thing. I can’t do lots of sauces right now and Chinese (at least what I tend to order) has thickened sauces that just don’t appeal to me right now. But I can’t get enough rice. Aversions are truly weird.
@meanjellybean I just started drooling thinking about crab rangoons. Today I had a super cheesy piece of pepperoni and mushroom pizza at 10:30am and have no regrets, only that I don't have more.
@meanjellybean crab rangoons sound SO good. @lizzybean84 i had a really good breakfast sandwich this morning, and it was bomb. wishing I also had a second helping!
I also just spent a good chunk of time at my desk today on Pinterest looking at cheeseburgers.
This might sound weird but I hope I'm not the only one. It's the middle of winter, -36C with the windchill here right now, and all I want is a Slurpee.
Also, I work at a retirement community and can usually smell what they're cooking for lunch, and whatever it is today is making me want to dive head first into the kitchen and devour whatever it is they're cooking. What is it about pregnancy that can turn us into absolute raging barbarians when it comes to food that smells good? Or maybe it's just me.
How is everyone eating burgers? Are you all eating them well done? I like mine med rare and I don’t think I’ll like it well... but I want a juicy burger sooo badly... and boston cream donuts, which I can’t find anywhere (rural town in Wyoming) and had to settle for a raspberry bismark today - which went straight to my thighs! Also cannot stand to be in the same room with my husband if he’s eating beef jerkey. Get that away from me! Ugh the smell is so awful.
Mexican food usually isn't my favorite. Not to say that I don't like it, but it isn't the food genre I tend to crave or think about. But recently I cannot get enough of those particular flavors! I'm working from home today and I may have scared the dog when I whooped for joy over a frozen Amy's black bean burrito I found in the freezer. Lunch is that plus salsa, avocado, and a fried egg and I am so happy about it.
My poor teeth are going to rot out of my mouth from all the Coke I’ve been drinking this week. But it’s been helping to settle the stomach weirdness so I’m embracing the sugar and bubbles 🤷🏼♀️
The thought of water has been turning my stomach. All I’ve wanted to drink is ginger ale with a splash of orange juice. I need to buy some seltzer though and see if I can manage that so I have something water like in my day
So I don’t know if I’d call this an aversion or a symptom, but I’m having the hardest time swallowlling pills (especially the long capsule ones). Took two iron capsules this morning and then proceeded to gag and throw up all the water I had just had - though somehow managed to keep the pills down. 🧐 It was super not-cute and I was really happy that nobody witnessed it. Anyone else struggling with this?
@Elle131 I’ve been craving a turkey hoagie relentlessly this pregnancy. It’s just ruined by the thought of heating it up. I finally caved and allowed myself to have one from a reliable place we’ve ordered from a ton of times. I felt guilty until that first bite 😂.
@Pascal86 same. Taking my prenatals have been a bit of a struggle, so I take gummies when the gagging is really bad. It’s getting better. Taking Tylenol is still hard though. I keep getting headaches but I hold off on that Tylenol as long as I possibly can because I dread swallowing them.
@Pascal86 yes!! I never struggle with pills (unless they taste bad) but for the last week or two my prenatals have been horrible to try and swallow. But I do feel like for the last couple weeks my gag reflex has also been in overdrive.
@bluguitarhannah@nursejenn5 glad I’m not alone! I also don’t get why prenatals have to be so massive. I’d gladly take two if they’d just make them a little smaller!
@Pascal86 to add to the pill dilemma. I just got prescribed some HORRIBLE tasting antibiotics. I think I’m gonna go old lady on this and crush them up and mix them in something. The thought of the horrible taste in big pill form makes me want to vomit Just thinking about it 😂
@nursejenn5 so I think I've solved the pill thing - I googled how to take pills better after yesterday's incident. What I read (that worked) was to: put the pill in your mouth, then put water in your mouth, hold both in your mouth while tipping your head forward, then tilt your head back and swallow it all at once. It's worked at least twice now, so I'm hopeful! My previous approach was to stick it in the back of my throat and try to have it pointed the right way, and then drink some water and then choke and vomit. Maybe it could work with your antibiotics, but don't know how it'll affect things if it's super gross tasting too.
Or you could do what my mom did when I was a kid for our dogs, and then in turn for me... which is to stick the pill in a glob of soft butter, cover it in sugar, and then swallow. That worked too but I can't bring myself to do it now.
@Pascal86 😂😂 I think for now I’m okay with my prenayals and a bunch of water. The bad tasting ones I’ve been taking with a naked smoothie and the thick consistency helps sooo much
@Pascal86 I’ve been the same with pills. And all I’m taking are the small round magnesium pills since I have chewable prenatals lol. If I don’t sip water right away it’s like an emergency situation where I have to be over the sink because I’m about to vom. I’ll be happy when the super sensitive gag reflex subsides...

Edited for spelling!

all I can think about is eating a tuna fish sandwich with loads of cheese and pickles.
