1st Trimester

Food is hard

My morning sickness is nowhere near as bad as others might have it, but it's constant and my appetite is poor as a result. I'm tired of thinking about what to eat next, and also just plain fatigued in general. I feel like crying because I have to eat lunch soon. I know what I'll be making but it just doesn't feel appetizing or appealing to me at all. Anyone else relate?

First trimester is all about survival. If your morning sickness is interfering with your ability to eat, talk to your doctor about medications. It doesn’t matter if others may have it worse, there’s no need to compare your pregnancy to others’. Do what is best for you and your pregnancy.

  • When I was pregnant with my twins, I survived the first trimester thanks to mashed potatoes. I didn't feel like eating often but that's about the only thing that was appetizing.
Like pp said, sometimes the first trimester is just surviving. But definitely talk to your doctor if you're concerned.
  • @milkt Agree with PPs. Eat what sounds good. The first trimester is about making it through. If the thought of what you're planning to eat makes you want to cry (been there) find what won't. I survived on McDonalds 4-piece happy meals my first pregnancy. This pregnancy it was pierogies and cheeseburgers (go figure). Also with both, a lot of crackers and toast. I took my prenatal and ate healthy when the morning sickness cleared around 14-weeks.
  • meggyme @bellebaby221 @jrouge12 : Thanks for your responses, I'll mention it at my first prenatal visit. I'll probably end up going the happy meal route.
  • On top of talking to your doctor about possibly takin meds for the nausea, just make sure you’re taking your prenatal vitamin do that you are still getting the nutrients you need for you and baby.
  • I'm at almost 12 weeks right now and I definitely relate!! It doesnt seem to matter what is offered or available, NOTHING ever sounds good! But I get so nauseous when I get hungry. And then as soon as I'm done eating I get nauseous again. I was not this sick with my first baby. I havent had to throw up, thank God! But the nausea makes me so fatigued that I don't manage to do much of anything. I really hoped it would ease up by now. I started feeling nauseous before I even had a missed period, so it has been a really long 1st trimester!
