Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out at 14 weeks
Baby is the size of a(n): wild strawberry?
Upcoming appointments: Just had 1st scan yesterday; next will be NT scan Dec 6 (didn't do this w/ my daughter, so this will be new)
How are you feeling?: nauseated? I'm on diclegis now, though, and hoping it helps.
Raves/Rants: I felt weirdly amazing last night & thought the diclegis was a miracle-worker, but I've been nauseated and very tired today. I also didn't sleep well. Meh.
Questions: Nothing really.
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? baking! I love to bake cakes
How are you feeling? Alternate between total crap and ok. Nausea seems to be lessening and I’m getting more sleep so I’m less tired. Still eating a ton.
Raves/Rants: our house is up for sale! We got a steal on a brand new house in a great neighborhood. Stressed thinking about moving soon but I’m so excited to have more space for our family.
Questions: I can’t think of any!
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? I love to read. I love to bake and cook and am trying to get more into it. It’s been hard lately but with the holidays coming I’m looking forward to it.
Upcoming appointments: Redoing a urine test tomorrow as I showed potential bacteria in my urine in my first sample- fingers crossed it’s nothing! But next actual appt is December 9th for a scan.
How are you feeling? Okay. My sister is pregnant with twins, also due in June, and she’s been so sick so I feel like I can’t really complain. I’ve been exhausted and had terrible constipation but no throwing up!
Raves/Rants: I just want ONE good night of sleep. My toddler and bladder keep ruining those plans lol. Also i feel like I’ve been pregnant for sooo long. I’ve only known for 5 weeks!
Questions: Nothinggggg
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? Travelling. I’ve done a great job with Europe but there’s so many more places I’d like to see!
@hayhay2501 I feel you on the sleep. DS spent the entire night in his bed for the first time in his short little life, and I was up for 3 hours because I’m so used to sleeping with him. It was weird.
Upcoming appointments: nothing until 2 weeks from tomorrow 😄😄😄 It will be a 2 hour long appointment for pre-eclampsia screening and genetic testing. Never had it before but I am happy I get to see my baby again.
How are you feeling? Nauseous 24/7 and so sleepy that I fell asleep at work while typing.
Raves/Rants: 24/7 nausea is soooo annoying. I just want to puke and get it over with like I did woth my first.
Lovely daughter is trying to creep her way into my bed and I am already sleep deprived but dont want to give in.
@hayhay2501 the first night wasn’t bad at all. Only 3 wake ups total! Last night was awful. He slept until 9:30, and was then up almost every hours until 1, slept til 4 and then up again. It’s almost 6 now and I think he finally went back down, just in time for me to have to get up. Ugh.
@hayhay2501 thank you! I really hope tonight is better. I was always against sleep training, but after a year, we had to make a change! Im struggling mentally and physically and I don’t feel like I’m a good mom because I’m always so damn tired. I get super anxious at bedtime because I don’t even know if I’ll have enough time to do anything before he starts waking up. I hate it so much, but I’m hoping things turn a corner soon.
EDD: June 18th (changed by doctor from 6/22, guess I'm one of the Week 3 crowd now!)
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out, don't really care what the gender is though
Baby is the size of a(n): piece of popcorn
Upcoming appointments: Dec 6th, they decided to combine my week 10 & 12 appointments because my doctor wasn't available until midway through week 11
How are you feeling?: Can't really complain. Yes, I have periodic nausea, I'm tired, boobs hurt a bit, and occasionally get cramps, but really I expected everything to be so much worse. A little paranoid that people at work will be able to tell because I now have a bump popping out (It's far more obvious to me than anyone else, I'm sure).
Raves/Rants: Rave: saw the kiddo!!!! Had my first sonogram/appointment and everything went well. Bought my mom her birthday card, which has "grandma" on it, so super excited for her to know. Also, now that I'm apparently a little further along than I thought I'm not as worried about my friends finding out at Thanksgiving since I'll be 11 weeks. Still will want to keep it quiet until after my 2nd appointment, but that's only a week off.
Rant: I went to my doctor's appointment only to find that she wasn't there because they had a flood, so I had to metro out to a different office. Good thing I blocked out the whole afternoon (I figured if the appointment went poorly I'd be too upset to go to work). Kind of a miracle that worked, because this week has been crazy at work. Scheduling my next appointments is kind of a pain now, though, since they won't book anything at my preferred office until everything is fixed. Makes perfect sense, but it's a busy practice so I wanted to get all it set out.
Questions: In information overload right now, won't have questions for a while
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? Anything involving boats, I'm on a dragon boat team and love to kayak and paddle board. That's one thing I'll miss next summer, though I suppose I can maybe do some kayaking/paddle boarding later on in the season after the kid comes.
@chaos-and-coffee I was always against sleep training too but my daughter was soooo bad at sleeping we had to try something before we all had mental breakdowns. Hugs! Baby sleep is hard. Hoping BOTH our next babies are sleep unicorns who STTN from 6 weeks 😅😅😅
@saladflambe I am team do what works best so you can best maintain your sanity! It makes me sad when people judge moms for their choices. We slept with DS in our bed from 6 months - 1 year and it worked fine for us but I had sooooo many people tell me why it was wrong. Um thanks Karen but also no thanks. If it works, it works!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green! We have two other littles at home (2&1) and found out for both of them, so this is new!
Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry
Upcoming appointments: 12 week Ultrasound in December!
How are you feeling? Very tired, but started on diclectin a couple weeks ago so not nearly as sick as I was!
Raves/Rants: I am sooo happy that my little guy started walking this week! He is 15 months, and was getting heavy! Especially with how tired I have been feeling!
Questions: —
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? Running! I ran up until the day before my little guy was born last pregnancy and would love to do that again! I even ran a 10k at 32 weeks, and it was so much fun getting all the double takes from everyone. Hoping it works out to run the whole time again!
@hayhay2501 They said they called me, but I never got the message. In their defense, I do get a lot of spam calls, so if it came from a number I didn't know it's entirely possible I ignored the call.
@kayldawn Pregnant racers are my heros, good for you! I want to like running, there's so much I should enjoy (outside, free, no special skills, don't have to trek to a sad gym), but I've never been able to get into it. Before fatigue set in I was trying couch-to-5k, hoping to be able to restart it soon.
@akoros I totally get that! It took many years of forcing myself to run before I actually liked it one day lol. Couch to 5k is such a good program! I know so many people who have done so well with it!
Hey, guys! I apologise for being so absent here. I think I'm still shadowed by so much doubt. I'm hoping once I have a second scan (fingers crossed they'll let me see at my next appointment) then I'll be much more at ease with this pregnancy.
EDD: 6/17/20
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green
Baby is the size of a(n): Grape
Upcoming appointments: 11/25
How are you feeling? Persistent headache today, which is unusual, but otherwise just tired all the time.
Raves/Rants: Ranting at myself for not participating sooner (other than intro-ing). I'm still kind of having doubts about a successful pregnancy despite having a positive 7 week scan, thanks to being PGAL twice over. My symptoms tend to come and go with nothing too crazy (I rarely deal with morning sickness, even in my son's pregnancy). I feel like I'm going to need a second scan to be convinced everything is going to be okay.
Questions: Nothing that comes to the mind at the moment.
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? Jewellery making!
@chaos-and-coffee Ahh! We're planning on selling our house too! We have a photographer coming Tuesday and I'm so stressed to have everything clean and in order with a 17-month-old under my feet!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink! Just found out my Sneak Peek results this weekend!
Baby is the size of a(n): cherry
Upcoming appointments: Next appt is Dec 2 and I’m assuming it’s just finding the heartbeat and NIPT bloodwork since I’m seeing the NP. I won’t start seeing my OB until the following appt.
How are you feeling? Great! My symptoms started waning about 10 days ago, so no more nausea. I still like to go to bed around 8:30-9:00 though. And zero sex drive
Raves/Rants: Still wrapping my head around a baby girl! I have a wonderful relationship with my mom and hope to share the same with my daughter, but I’m terrified of the pre-teen/teenage years!
Questions: Still debating the need for a double stroller. I have a son who was born Oct 2018, and I used my Tula carrier a lot with him, so not sure it’s worth the splurge.
GTKY: What's one of your hobbies? I don’t have time for it very often, but I enjoy making quilts for friends (and their babies!).
@kjack86 We wear a lot, but also use my double stroller a lot. Kid 1 is 3.5, kid 2 is 14 months, they're 27 months apart. Use double stroller plenty, single still some too, with carrier, or with big kid walking. Depends on length of walk, but we'll likely do less time wearing when kid 2 is walking. Just our experience. We're outside a lot when it's not snowy, and it's a mile and a half to the park. We also have the double for when it's too hot to wear. We did get it used and not a fancy one, because it isn't a daily use when we're not running daily.

Thanks @pourmeanothermocktail! Mine will be 20 months apart so I think you’re right that it will get used a lot as the baby gets bigger. Do you prefer side-by-side or in-line?
Thanks @pourmeanothermocktail! Mine will be 20 months apart so I think you’re right that it will get used a lot as the baby gets bigger. Do you prefer side-by-side or in-line?
Our single has a rumble seat, so we kinda have both, and love both for different reasons.
Our side by side holds ALL THE THINGS so for a long adventure, like the zoo or whatnot, yes. Or for running with kids (no regular sitters for us, so we trained for half marathon with kids). But, we don't use it inside for pretty much anything. It's not worth maneuvering through doors, through stores, etc. It's also hard to load into car as joggers fold big and are super heavy.
Our tandem (in-line) doesn't hold much when both kids are loaded, but, I can easily backpack stuff when I'm not wearing a kid, or leave stuff in car/at home for shorter trips. It is easy to transport and fits through doors.
So it really depends on what fits your needs and lifestyle better.
There is a whole thread all about strollers too, as a product spotlight.
