HR ordered business cards for me (finally, it only took a year) and they arrived yesterday.  I was told to stop by "whenever" today to pick them up, so I did.  Only when I stopped by he wasn't in his office. I was going to come back but I saw the box just sitting there on his desk so I grabbed them and then sent him an email that I picked them up, so that he would know it was me.

He wrote back asking if someone else grabbed them for me.  So I replied, "No, no one else was around so I just took them. I hope that was okay and I'm sorry if it was not." 

To which, he replied:
"Moving forward for confidentiality purposes, if we have to meet, let's just put some time on the calendar."

Ummmm.... I didn't need to meet with you, dude. I just literally picked up a small box with my name on it off of your desk. Seriously?!?!

Do I even respond? Or just....
 ??

The right answer is probably to let it go, but that’s annoying, so I’d probably say something like “No problem! I assumed since you told me to stop by whenever that you just left them out for me. I’m sorry for the confusion!” 

But I’m a brat who can’t let things go haha

Confidentiality?? Then what the hell are business cards even for?

I'm sorry, are we not supposed to give out our information to people?? 🤨

I would just roll my eyes and move on

@bows22 I'm a brat who can't let things go either hahaha But I think I'm taking @inthewoods23 advice and just moving on. But I soooooo want to respond with what you wrote!! I'm still REALLY annoyed by it!!

@kpearse99 I would respond with what @bows22 wrote. I mean I understand if you were like rifling through files looking for them that would be over the line. But honestly if HR is keeping confidential information in plain sight in an unlocked office that would be a no no on his side.

@millpe oh THAT kind of confidentiality lol. Totally did not get that before. I am so slow at understanding things

DH's work has the rule that if you leave your desk, even just to use the bathroom, you have to lock your computer because they work on government projects and that all has to be kept confidential.

We have a clean desk policy too. Computer locked, drawers locked. Even when you are working on things, except for any documents you are actively using it's supposed to be upside down until you need it. 

My WTF is this damned month. My SIL was in a wreck last night. She is mostly okay, her car is mostly not. Hopefully November is better.

one of the managers on my team’s wife is pregnant which NO ONE CAN STFU about. It’s why my one coworker told me not to join a call the other day. Now he just sent a team wide email with the “exciting news!” And an Instagram worthy pic of them holding their ultrasound pictures which I think is weird as a guy in a professional setting but whatever. 

Everyone from our team is going to be in town next week for an annual conference. Was this absolutely necessary? Bracing myself for a long day of reply all’s 🙄 #bitterAF

Thanks ladies ❤️❤️ @bluetickgal @meri-mac it’s just annoying because like...work email isn’t another form of social media haha. Luckily there haven’t been too many replies!

My coworker has answered today

0 calls
And 0 emails

2 of the emails in our inbox are continuations from inquiries he originally answered and we generally follow the rule that if you're the one to answer the initial inquiry then you follow through the whole way until the customer is good to go.
