PGS accuracy?

What is the accuracy of PGS testing for down syndrome? We used a donor and of 20 eggs retrieved, only 5 made embryos, and of those 5 only 1 tested PGS normal.

now my first beta, only 10 days post transfer, was very high at 617. In the back of my mind I am slightly nervous about down syndrome since that can cause very high betas, and because 19 of 20 eggs were bad.

Re: PGS accuracy?

  • High HCG is associated with Down’s at 11-14 weeks, I thought, not at such early stage of pregnancy. And I also remember that the serum marker (like HCG) was not a very good marker anyway (too many false positives, I vaguely remember).
This is anecdotal but I transferred 1 PGS-normal embryo. I had the nuchal scan at 12 weeks and that came back high risk for Down’s (the measurement was slightly above the cutoff). I did the Harmony test and that came back low risk for Down’s, similar to the PGS result. My son doesn’t have Down’s.
