Happy Tuesday ladies!  Let's hear em!

  • 1) It's going to rain more or less for the next two days, with steady temps in the low to mid 60s.
    2) I'm still able to climb the 39 Steps up to the second floor at work. I'm thinking I'll be able to make it to 30w!
    3) This year was my year to take DS1 Trick or Treating and I wasn't looking forward to it. He asked to be with his dad, so I was all for it.
    4) DS1 wants me to pick him up after trick or treating Thurs, so I get out of it AND I don't give up one of my days with him!
    5) Christmas lights go up this weekend! I'm so excited!
    6) Halloween cold front, high 55...but into the 40s by evening. Such a nice change from the usual 80
    7) Time Change this weekend!
    8) HONEYCRISP APPLES
    9) In the last week, I discovered my decaf coffee was what made me sick in the first tri, NOT coffee in general. I've been able to drink black coffee again, reg or decaff, as long as it isn't a dark roast.
    10) Anxiously awaiting the first time I hear Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song.

    1. I spent way too much time watch Graham Norton clips on fb this morning.
    2. DS woke up at 5:10 this morning. Sometimes I’m convinced he’s not really mine. I like sleep.
    3. I made terrible coffee this morning. Such a terrible start to the day.
    4. Loving the 60 degree weather we are having this week.
    5. Finally caught up on GBBO. I wish it was year round, I’m obsessed.
    6. Excited my sister is coming down in a couple weeks to help me prep instant pot freezer meals for when the babies get here.
    7. Contemplating hiring someone to come clean the house because I’m tired of doing it. I won’t but I want to haha.
    8. I feel the need to get my Christmas shopping taken care of over the next few weeks.
    9. I bought a box of wheat thins and forgot how delicious they are.
    10. So tired of the carpal tunnel and I don’t want to go to my mfm scan today.

  • @amb0924 - I'm getting the baking urge, even though I made biscuits and cookies last night. I have a can of pumpkin puree and I'm trying to figure out what I want to make with it.
@MrsJessS - Oooh! Are you going to post the maternity pictures on Facebook? I'd love to see them. I just got a bushel of apples from the Mennonite farm here and I'm so excited to make applesauce and apple butter. DD is obsessed with the apple cider we got too.
@FyreFlyeRush - Honeycrisp are my favorite snackable apple.
@kbrown2385 - Graham Norton is great. Love that show!

    1. Work has been picking up, so it's nice to be busy again.
    2. Loving this cooler weather. Finally feels like October!
    3. I've been under the weather a little, so I've been making a bunch of soups lately: tomato soup, chicken noodle, zuppa toscana, and sausage bean.
    4. DD surprises me every day with her understanding and empathy.
    5. Hallmark has Christmas movies already!
    6. Baby Eileen has been doing somersaults all the time lately. I never remember DD being this active.
    7. DH is on a weird work schedule this week where he works all day plus an 11pm-2am shift. It's killing him, and making me feel like I already have a newborn and getting up at 11 and 2 with him.
    8. Finally going to the pumpkin patch this weekend as long as the weather holds. I'm hoping it's going to be less busy now that Halloween is passed and most people are looking forward to Christmas as of Nov 1st.
    9. I think I've decided against maternity photos and instead will just do newborn photos. I haven't really found a photographer that I'm willing to pay, so we'll probably just do a studio.
    10. DD saw Christmas decorations at Ross last week and shouted, "Mommy, look! It's we wish you a merry Christmas!" 😂
  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k - No pumpkins here yet either. I'm jealous about the babymoon!
  • 1. Got an e-mail that my insurance-paid breast pump is arriving Thursday.  I love that these are fully covered as preventative medicine now  :)
    2. One of my best coworker friends gave her 2 weeks notice today.  I'm going to miss her  :(
    3. We never got around to carving pumpkins this year which I feel kind of guilty about, but also not because things have been so busy (plus we decorated pumpkins for a school contest, so I think that counts)
    4. DH told me that he woke up last night because the baby was kicking him in his side (I guess I was lying with my belly facing him) and he just lay in bed for a while with his hand on my belly feeling baby kick while I slept.  Very cute, and also a little creepy?
    5. DS (8 years) is already starting to complain about needing to pose for holiday pictures in a few weeks. I'm not much of a picture-person, but I love having these yearly professional photos done to see how our family has grown each year. He was a pain during the shoot last year and there was a serious lack of good pictures of him as a result.  He'd better suck it up this year and let me get my pictures.
    6. I've decided that I need to show my kids the Princess Bride.  Maybe we'll do a family movie night this weekend.
    7. My kids know which candies I plan to steal from them, so they make sure they get extras of those while they are out trick-or-treating. I guess they aren't totally rotten  :D
    8. I'm having a really hard time focusing at work the past few weeks. It's way too early for me to start having short-timer syndrome regarding maternity leave.
    9. Car passed inspection today with just a running light to get replaced.  It's an old car with a lot of mileage on it, so this was a relief.
    10. Looking forward, but also a little nervous, about appointments next week. Particularly the GTT and a ultrasound recheck of my baby's bladder (it was measuring a bit small during the anatomy scan).
  • 1. Had my 3 hour glucose test Saturday morning and I passed! I'm super relieved! 2. We had family fall/maternity pics on Sunday and we got one sneak peek and I adore it. I can't wait to see the rest!
    3. I'm at a 2 day training and the information I was really seeking he covered super briefly and quickly in like 10 minutes. Kinda frustrating!
     4. It was nice to stay in a hotel by myself though, I slept pretty good despite the heartburn. 🙄
    5. The training is in northern(ish) Michigan and about 30 minutes away from the "World's Largest Christmas Store" and of course I went and spent too much money. It seriously made me so excited for Christmas. I want to decorate my house NOW.
    6. Also if our baby name wasn't 100% locked in before, it is now because I personalized an ornament with his name on it at the Christmas store. 🤣🤷‍♀️
    7. Planning to follow up with my OB about the SPD tomorrow morning, but the Dr I'm seeing is the NP who literally only gave me 5 minutes last time I saw her. I'm kinda bummed it won't be my favorite Dr who explains things really well to me.
    8. We're supposed to get the first snow this week - on Halloween. I'm not ready for the snow! We still haven't turned on our heat to the whole house and just turn on the wall heater in one room that we primarily spend our time in as needed (typically in the mornings). The house has been maintaining around 67* and I'm ok with that because the upstairs where we sleep stays warmer. Idk how much longer we can hold out though.
    9. I finally sat down and took a practice test for my licensing exam...missed 61 out of 170. Technically it's a passing score, but when I broke it down in the different focus areas, I really didn't do great and need to buckle down on studying. It was a good starting place for me though.
    10. I'm pretty over this training and ready to drive home. 😏
  • @valerie4786 I hate when the piece of training you want is barely covered!!! Huge annoyance!

@catsinawindow I'm always relieved when my car doesn't need major work. Also an older car with lots of mileage!

    @marebear15 yum soup weather!

@c1kc1kpol1cn1k My SIL apparently when DH was born was like "I didn't want it to have one of those!" Hah! Reminds me of you DD. I'm sure she will adjust eventually!

@kbrown2385 I'm super anxious for the GBBO finale which will be out on Friday here in the states!

    @FyreFlyeRush HONEY CRISP APPLES!!!!

@amb0924 at first I thought you bought the butterfingers to celebrate passing the 3hr GTT lol

@MrsJessS nice that you did your friends maternity photos! Is this the same friend with the shower? If so I think you have done your bit!

@c1kc1kpol1cn1k so glad we got a babybjorn hand me down from SIL!! Good luck finding one
  • @biolprof I wait all week for Friday and then forget it’s available to watch haha. I was glad to see who went home this past week. Her voice made me a little crazy.
  • 1. Gbbo final in 30mins for me - ladies come talk to me when you see it friday cause I always need to bitch about who wins! Lol
    2. Weve been having hassle with exchanging contracts for the new house & today was particularly stressful to the point where I thought we were going to have to walk away from it altogether this morning & i was freaking out as our current house is not big enough for 3 children!
    3. A particularly complicated project that i was coordinating completed today & im feeling like a pretty smug rockstar about it!
    4. My blood sugar levels had been pretty stable the past month or so but have started creeping up the past few days despite no changes in diet etc which is frustrating.
    5. Mil & bil have left & gone home. Much as im grateful that she could look after dd for us the past few days but I hate having people in my house when I come in from work!
    6. I had a roast beef in the slow cooker all day for dinner this evening & its so good.
    7. Dd is being a spoilt brat after a few days of granny indulgence 😕
    8. I got new doc marten boots on sunday & breaking them in is killing me.
    9. Dd got matching boots & theyre so much cuter in tiny sizes
    10. My previous bmb secret santa assignment emails got issued today & im so excited to shop for mine! One of the ladies husbands assigns them for us & were all like giddy children about it! Lol
  • @leprechaunlady

#7 - That doesn't end...I'm still dealing with it with DS1, and he's 7, and to an extent, my mom still spoils my 23yo when she can.

#8 & 9 - OMG That's so cute! I need to do this...I absolutely need to have the 5 of us get matching Doc Martens. One of the memories that sticks out in SO's brain is me at in ROTC at 16: Long brown hair, a plaid flannel over a No Fear shirt, with jeans and Docs. So totally 1993...all that's missing is Zombies playing in the background.
  • @FyreFlyeRush she had little original black patent docs last year & I paired them with little cord miniskirts & tights & she absolutely was my sister in the early 90s & it was adorable!
this year ive gone for black patent chelsea boot style ones for us both & I love them!
  • 1. I WAS PROVEN RIGHT THAT SOMEONE MISSED A PAYMENT TO A STUDENT... and it only took 10 emails back and forth for them to acknowledge I was right all along from last week. When this could have just been resolved the first time I asked. But I was right!!! And that's what counts (well and the student getting their money obviously)
    2. mac and vegan cheese is delicious.
    3. An amazing best friend who found a vegan restaurant (dairy allergy here) to cater my baby shower food so I can eat at my own shower. Bless her heart.
    4. DH is having a guys night over at our place this weekend while I'm away and I keep calling it his dadchelor party. IT makes me giggle every time.
    5. It's suppose to be another warm halloween this year (70 degrees) but the poor kiddos are gonna get rained on :(
    6. We have picked out our daycare. Daycare #2 was so much better than one and is worth the extra $100 bucks they are charging a month.
    7. We actually have 1 carved pumpkin this year so far (I still gotta do mine) which is better than last year. DH had a shit abusive boss last year and we just didn't have the energy to deal with anything really besides that until he was able to leave the situation in January/February. I mean every holiday was ruined because of her last year.
    8. Labor and delivery birthing class today which then flows into my OB appointment tomorrow which is perfect timing to talk about birth plans with my team at Penn.
    9. Crap I gotta sign the stupid scary form that basically states all the scary things that can go wrong that they can't predict during/after labor that I wish I had just signed without reading that they gave me last appointment. UGH.
    10. I've been talking to two of my online friends about teaming up with them in their businesses to offer my graphic design services to their clients as part of their packages. This would be huge for me and I hope they come through. <3

  • @stashattack, are you full vegan? How do you keep your iron up? Pregnant, I eat red meat at will, but not pregnant I only eat chicken and fish, with steak once a month MAYBE. I ate iron rich foods, but still found I had to take a multivitamin to boost it.
  • @stashattack - I just signed my VBAC consent form, and basically just skimmed through everything. I had to initial each line though. It really does scare you, but you also have to remember that those things only happen just a fraction of the time.
  • @FyreFlyeRush no just dairy free. But a vegan restaurant means there's no chance of them screwing up my allergy. My dairy allergy isn't just intolerance. It's like a peanut butter allergy. I got die if I consume dairy. So full vegan restaurants are the safest places for me. I couldn't go full vegan. Sushi and bacon just taste too good LOL.

@marebear15 yeah I'm trying to remember that. And everything has been soooo good so far it terms of a normal pregnancy, but still. Next time I know to skim!

  • 1. My admin brought chocolate into the office and I have basically eaten my weight in snickers.
    2. My only afternoon patient cancelled for tomorrow so I can probably go home early! This never happens.
    3. My OB appointment is at 7 tonight, so I miss bedtime for DD. Usually this would make me sad but she has been such a pain at bedtime lately that I am glad to miss it.
    4. We carved pumpkins this weekend and had a fun family day at the pumpkin patch/fall festival.
    5. It is supposed to rain on Halloween  :|
    6. I am so ready to start watching cheesy christmas movies
    7. I started christmas shopping and want to get it all done soon. I don't think I will have any patience to do it in December.
    8. Apple Cider is my life recently.
    9. I am probably overdoing it with the hot tea consumption the past couple days but I don't really care because I've been so sick with a cold.
    10. Hocus Pocus! DD loves it as much as I do and will quote the movie. I really hope she says "I smell children" at school like she does at home because that. is. hilarious.
  • This is my first TTT....here goes!

    1. My kitten loves to sleep on my bump, which I find unbearably cute.
    2. We have accumulated 2 pumpkins and a little bitty gourd for DD but haven’t carved any of them yet.
    3. I actually think I might carve one into a pregnancy announcement and have DD pose with it since I STILL haven’t announced on Facebook or Insta yet!
    4. I am still behind on GBBO by a few episodes but have adored this season so far. Not sure I’ll be caught up by Friday but I look forward to more binging!
    5. MyFitnessPal has a recipe for pumpkin oatmeal and I am really tempted to try it. You use pumpkin pie spice in it in addition to the puréed pumpkin and it sounds awesome.
    6. It’s supposed to snow on Halloween here, too. Very typical Midwest. I grew up wearing a snowsuit with my costume half the time.
    7. DD is going as a cat this year, and my mom and I are going to put the costume together tomorrow. It will be very homemade and I can’t wait!
    8. DD peed in the potty at daycare for the first time! She’s done it once at home, too.
    9. I love sweatpants.
    10. People at work are telling me I’m in the homestretch now and it’s finally dawning on me that I am. Eek!
  • @marebear15 I posted a couple on my photography page and will for sure have more going up now that she has seen them all!

@biolprof it is the same friend w the shower. We have been friends since...high school or earlier? I’m excited to spoil this baby as much as can while I’m here!
  • @kbrown2385 i have a cleaner that comes for 2 hours every week. It is the best £22 i spend every week and makes life so much easier and means our weekend time is freer with not having to spend time cleaning. i spend half an hour tidying things away etc the evening before hand and that's it. I'd highly recommend it!
  • @marebear15 I didn’t know there was a special VBAC consent. I’m really hoping for a VBAC this time around.

@kbrown2385 I second @leprechaunlady about house cleaning. We have someone come every other week and she keeps us sane! And I do the “tidy up before the housekeeper comes” thing too despite DH making fun of me for it.
  • @EmilyE13 the way i look at it is that she comes to clean not tidy up after us and therefore we need to tidy up & put things away for her to be able to clean properly!
  • @EmilyE13 @leprechaunlady if we weren’t on the Dave Ramsey debt free plan I’d jump at hiring someone to come and clean for me. I have told Dh that once we are debt free believing someone is something we will absolutely be budgeting for.
  • @EmilyE13 - It might be hospital or OB practice specific. I had two pages of stuff to initial for the hospital (so I can't sue them) and one page for my OB (so I don't sue them).
  • @kbrown2385 just an idea since I know you mentioned budget but I would maybe put that as a registry item or a gift idea for the holiday's? I hate getting gift's that I never use but my mum each year get's me a full house deep clean package or something like nail salon gift card since that is something I will actually use. You are definitely going to need it around the holidays and leading up to the twins birth. I've put out the request for money towards my newborn photo's since those packages also are pretty expensive, just an idea!
  • @EmilyE13 pumpkin pie oatmeal is delicious.  You should absolutely try it!

@kbrown2385 as others have said, you should absolutely look into hiring a cleaner once you're in a place to do so.  We're working our way out of debt, too, and I fully intend to put the extra $$ towards a cleaning service once we are.
