Re: PGAL Check-in week of 10/28

  • This thread is for those who are pregnant after a previous loss (or losses).

    1. Weeks/EDD/How many times a mom? 15+6w, 4/14, 6th pregnancy- DD is 3

    2. Previous loss(es)? (3) MCs (most recent in April. DS was delivered stillborn on 1/36/18 at 22+w.

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally & physically?

After our early AS last week, I’m feeling good. Feeling a little guilty that we’re having a healthy boy and hope people don’t think “we’re fine” going forward because we have a “replacement” baby.

    4. Any appointment updates? Waiting for the referral to my OB.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Started cleaning out the 12 bins of DD’s baby stuff and trying to figure out what to do with it all. Also, just made my first bigger baby purchase (Snuggle Me Organic) and feeling good about it.

    6. Any milestones coming up? No

    7. GTKY- What are you doing for Halloween?  We are having a potluck at work and then I’m taking DD trick or treating at my ILs (they live on a nice quiet street outside of the city).

@doraleigh35 I’ve worried about people thinking that we are replacing DD.  A Facebook page I follow on child loss shared a quote of: “before you tell a grieving parent to be grateful for the kids they have, think about which of your kids you could live without” For me that is the closest way you could tell another person that there is no way of “replacing” Also- that is great you made your first baby purchase!  I haven’t been able to do that yet, but I’ve managed to stock up on maternity clothes.😀 what is DD dressing up as for Halloween?

    1. Weeks/EDD/How many times a mom?
16+2 4/11 STM but FTM in all aspects once bringing baby home from hospital

    2. Previous loss(es)?
DD was stillborn at 40 weeks + 1 day. Sept 2018

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally & physically?

Had OB apt last week and she found heartbeats for both babies with the doppler. First time I have heard both as last time one was being a stinker and we got sent in for an ultrasound and he/she was bouncing around like a kid that had too much sugar. Symptoms starting to lighten but the nosebleeds have started. Can’t feel babies for sure yet, but we’re getting close!

    4. Any appointment updates?
Good apt last week and got scheduled up until the end as she can’t “double up” apts with me since we’re having twins

anatomy scan on nov 18 and hopefully will be finding out genders. I’ve been lying to everyone saying that the scan is after Thanksgiving. 😂.  With having done IVF again and being so open about it we never got to surprise people about getting pregnant or anything like that so we’re hoping to surprise family with gender reveals on thanksgiving

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?
    Not today 😀

    6. Any milestones coming up?
should be feeling babies movement any week now. Being a STM I hope that I can feel them earlier but the last ultrasound I had they think I’m going to have an anterior placenta - which I had with DD and that kind of cushions the first movements.

    7. GTKY- What are you doing for Halloween?
handing out candy. Typically I leave our house dark and sit with my neighbor on her front lawn because we get about 200+ kids. This way we can talk and enjoy ourselves. There is a city Halloween event about 2 blocks from our house so most people tend to trick or treat in our neighborhood after before leaving to go home.

  • @mandarenee898 She is going as popcorn! She picked it out and thankfully it can go over her winter jacket.
I've heard that quote before and it is so true. PGAL is such a hard thing to navigate sometimes. I feel like I have to remind people around me that I gave birth to DS and I didn't just stop being pregnant. I love that you are going to surprise everyone at Thanksgiving, that will be such a special moment! I had an anterior placenta with both DD and DS, I couldn't feel either until closer to 18w. I have a posterior this time and wow, I've been feeling this little one since 14w!
