I was so productive this morning before work! DD woke up to pee about an hour before my alarm goes off. I took her to the bathroom, cuddled and put her back to sleep. I laid down for a few minutes then decided to get up. Took a shower, made some more coleslaw to go with our lunches, made chili and put it in the crock pot for tonight, I got DD's food and back pack ready for daycare, packed my lunch, actually ate breakfast and got out of the house on time!
OOO! @mokay19 I'm on board to do a Whole30 thread! I'll somewhat join you for the month of November, I won't do it 100%, but I really want to try and get a majority of my meals back to a W30 base. DD's birthday is in November and I am already planning on making Pizza Soup from The Whole Smiths W30 endorsed Good Food Cookbook. Have you ever done one before?
@m6agua I can’t even do all that with normal sleep in the morning you rock!
I’m so unmotivated with work right now, I just want to be home on my couch watching Hallmark Christmas movies 😂. I went and did blood work this morning so I feel like that should allow me to slack off the rest of the day since I am deathly terrified of needles and I did really well this time, I want a lollipop or sticker for being that good.
I also called our pedi today to make sure they save a spot for this baby with our NP, I’m very partial to her because she was my pedi too.
@stacyjlucas8 Hi and welcome! Please introduce yourself in the introduction thread and look at some of the other pinned posts to become aware of how this community runs. In general those "just for fun" gender prediction games are not welcomed around The Bump. We tend to like more scientific approaches around here, so blood tests or anatomy scan (with the shot between the legs, interpreted by a professional).
@mamaj1220 I'm so ready to curl up and watch Christmas movies! I don't think I got to watch any last year with DD running wild all the time. Hoping I can make it a priority to get some relaxing in this year
@rox7777 I was at Walmart today with DD and had the sudden urge to go. I walked to the restroom and it was closed! I asked the manager nearby if there was another restroom and I think I looked pretty desperate because he let me use the employee one 😂 you are not alone!
If anyone has Blue Cross Blue Shield for insurance, you should see if your area participates in Better Beginnings. I got signed up with mine and it has perks like reimbursement for prenatal classes (birthing, breastfeeding, sibling, etc) and exercise classes. I don’t know if it’s unique to my state, but thought it worth mentioning!
ETA: a quick google search shows that different areas and different insurances have similar programs with different names. I’d say it’s worth contacting your insurance company to find out if there is anything. I reached out to mine in the online portal so I didn’t have to sit on the phone.
After not being able to find the heart beat the other morning, I just found it. I was not looking in the right place before 😂 I forgot how low that babies start out! Also, it’s like hiding behind my blood flow so the doppler won’t pick up the number since mine is louder. Phew!
My other random, I finally called the hospital that I want to deliver at and picked a new doctor that practices there. Actually, I ended up choosing a midwife so we’ll see on 11/27 if I stick with her or switch to a MD!
This isn't twat-waffle worthy so I'll post it here. I just shared with my department that I'm expecting. Everyone is extremely happy for me (which feels great as the new girl). Surprisingly, I've gotten a lot of support from the other male faculty members. They've been telling me their stories of being a parent of a newborn. They all are saying how great it is. I truly appreciate that they're supportive but at the same time... it's not the same. There is another layer of complexity when you are the one that has to carry the child and breastfeed. Just a thought I'm sharing here because I know you all will understand.
P.S. Is the app not working for anyone else? I can see the feed but I can only comment & like if I'm signed in online.
P.S.S. @shamrocandroll that's hilarious and congrats on the good news!
@drkoyya I get that it’s not the same, but don’t undermine the fathers/SO’s role in the pregnancy and newborn phase. Yes, they’re not carrying. Yes, their nipples are worthless. But, my DH—and many H’s—put a focus on the mom and taking care of the family unit as a whole. It’s rewarding and difficult for them. My daughter went to the NICU after birth and you bet my DH was crying right next to me. She had trouble with blood sugar and feeding so DH woke up for every. single. feed in the first few weeks to help out.
I totally agree that it’s not the same, but I just want to make sure that you don’t just brush off the importance of the partner
How about the BMB drive bys this week 😂?? I guess is too much (rude?) to ask them to introduce themselves and contribute before asking random questions...

Re: husband's - MH was a rock after DS was born. I was not prepared for how emotionally difficult it was for me the week we brought DS home. I can't even describe it, other than to say I felt like my life would never be the same - and not in a good way. I realize now it was post partum hormones, but that first week, things were rough. MH was amazing. He took two months off and spent every minute being completely hands on. He did skin-to-skin, diapers, baths, everything but breastfeed. And he still got up with me every time DS needed fed in the MOTN. I don't know how I would have gotten through it without him. He was the same with DD, but I had a much easier time emotionally with her. Still didn't change what an amazing dad he was/is.
PSA for FTM's - give YH a chance to do things for the baby, even they do it different than you. If you don't let them learn how to take care of your newborn, you're going to end up doing it all yourself later.
@queenklau I try to politely hint that we don't know them and they should go read the pinned threads to figure out how things work around here, but they usually just ghost and never respond. Like the knottie8zillionsomething who posted not one, but TWO baby name threads without an intro and then hasn't been heard from since. 🙄

I've been wearing the same long sleeved dress for like two weeks every time I leave the house because I'm still too lazy to dig out the winter clothes we got this weekend from storage. I just happened to accidentally not pack this dress with winter things when we moved. I have an OB appointment today and I'm all nerves. Please oh please let it go well. And then I have to take the earnest money check to my realtor - kids are not getting a nap today and thus, your thoughts and prayers are appreciated as I drive them all over tarnation and then make them sit in a doctor's office for what the scheduling person described as a long appointment.
@mokay19 Thank you! We are planning on doing some small renovations to the property first so it might be a week or three after closing. So probably around Christmas time or the first of the year.
@Austenista - T&P's 😆 I hope you have a great appointment and that your kids are perfect angels. Personally, I'm not above bribery. And new coloring books.
@Austenista - Long appointment + Kids sounds like what nightmares are made of. Good luck! as @ruby696 said, I am not above bribery either. Bribe away to buy yourself some sanity.
@ruby696 yes, the post partum hormones were insane! I also cried hysterically for a few days and told DH and my mom that I just felt like I was drowning in emotion. I couldn't even pinpoint anything wrong other than knowing nothing was ever going to be the same. It was a really rough first few weeks. I'm really hoping this time is easier since I know somewhat to expect.
I went and got my blood drawn this morning for NIPT. It was a little confusing because it didn't look like the dr office had completely filled out all of the "required" things, but the lab said they can call on it. Then the lab said "oh we don't have this code anymore" and had to look through a book and then call another office to get a new code. In the end it seemed like everything was ok so just hoping to get some good news hopefully next week.
@drkoyya I hear you. My BIL tried to give me breastfeeding advice. Please don't. This isn't your realm. Now DH helped a lot with me getting comfortable nursing after DD was born when I was feeling frustrated. Totally different.
